Personally, I believe that the cheerleading errors can be explained, but I understand your points.
1) With her parents, yes it is clear that she hates their cheering (I wish that they used this in the episode), but Scootaloo does not. She told RD that she could only dream of having parents that would cheer her on like Rainbow’s does. At the end of Parental Glidance, when she was doing her parents’ style of cheering for Scootaloo at the school, it was not because all of the years of discomfort and embarrassment disappeared, she did it because Scootaloo wanted it. I hope that paragraph made sense, I’m a bit tired haha, it’s 2 AM here.
2) Yes, Rainbow was on a cheer squad, but that‘s because it was part of the welcoming for Ms. Harshwhinny. She expressed how heartbroken she was over Cloudsdale not being able to host the Equestria Games, so it makes a lot of sense that she’d do anything to get the Crystal Empire to get the opportunity instead- doing anything like giving the Games Instructor the best possible welcoming and impression of the empire.
3) Cheering is very different from cheerleading. Very. I love to cheer in crowds and lift up my favorite teams, but cheerleading is an organized group that expands on this practice. It utilizes dancing, flexibility, rhyming, strength, a lot of different things. I’m sitting on the bleachers just screaming, “go!” while my friends and family members, who are cheerleaders, have prepared and organized cheers, and perform a multitude of different tricks. It’s quite different. So what I’m saying is, the “elements of a good cheer” scene goes for cheering only, not cheerleading. RD loves and knows about cheering, but not about the organized teams that expand on these elements.
This is simply my take on this argument. I apologize if I sounded harsh, I have seen this point made numerous times, so maybe I am a bit more careless with my words.

Honestly these lessons get super simple and dumber every other episode they can think of but those lessons for MLP got the ball rolling and made them a huge success in the long run
I would call Rainbow Dash out if I was for being a terrible coach. Rainbow Dash saying that ponies don't care about cheer squad, that's where she's wrong. I would say to her that while she may not care about cheer squad, others around her do. When it comes to Rainbow Dash, she always want to make everything awesome, or 20% cooler, or whatever. Smolder is right when she says that Rainbow Dash only wants to be the most enthusiastic pony in Equestria because it's something that Rainbow Dash cares about. But since Rainbow Dash doesn't care about cheer squad, I don't think they are one of those things Rainbow Dash cares.
It's a good thing Rainbow Dash learned her lesson that while she may not care cheer squad, she should still care about others that do care about cheer squad when she realized that Twilight had set her up to be a cheerleading coach
As a chealeader, this episode gives me more reasons to dislike Rainbow Dash but I don't think that this episode is bad.
No offense to the writers, but it seems as if a lot of the writers struggle when writing Dashie. In this episode, she seemed completely apathetic and even a bit sadistic, which we know isn’t really the case with her (at least not to this extent). It feels like they just view her as dense and egotistical, which is who she is, but that’s not all she is, and that’s why people like her. She has different sides to her, I wish that they showed those sweet sides more often. I feel like the writers (for the show and in the fandom) struggle a lot with finding out when they’ve crossed the line with her.
Sadly real-world adults can be that way though not often toward the entire team but to individual students. I'm autistic and I've had many teachers roll their eyes and groan much like Rainbow when they had to deal with me. Maybe not to my face but, I could feel that energy of 'I don't want to do this, this isn't what I wanted to do.' Which, in the real world can lead to a child especially one with special needs feeling like they're not important or in some cases make them drop the course altogether. Smolder is a character who felt those emotions and voiced them wherein the real world a child may never actually speak up and instead will leave the sport entirely because of a bad teacher.
Am I the only one who noticed Sandbar, Gallus, and Silverstream in the crowd behind Twilight and Celestia?

about Dash's disrespect for cheerleading - I think, it was a result of broken expectations. It is the same as if you usually get some high-level tasks that can be done only by someone with huge experience like you have but one day you get a few important and awfully simple tasks so all you have to do is to click thousands buttons on your keyboard using no brains :) It would be absolutely Ok if you have nothing else to do BUT... it is very annoying if there are many "your level" tasks and you are just not allowed to touch them. So Dash thought a game itself is so important that sheerleading is something worthless comparing to it. That's why I see no problem here.

It's only proves how complex she is. You can't live past. You need to live the future. I love cheerleading and I would say that silly are her sports but I like it as well so I'm not gonna say it. What I dislike are complex tomboy girls who thinks that everything what is girly is stupid and useless.

@@wcchains9782 The lessons help me make friends. But I understand. I did overreact. I just love changelings! But yes, at the end of the day, it's just a cartoon. A lot of people seem to forget that, and honestly I too forget that. This show helped through dark times, it's cute and funny.

I don't understand why Silverstream wasn't here? She would be perfect dancer, better than Yona, definitely.
This was another of those episodes that would be better off replaced with one where something happened to Smolder, Ocellus and Gallus and they need to turn to their treehouse since Silverstream, Yona and Sandbar turned to that place in earlier better written episodes.

About the continuity issues, I don't think there is: in the past cheering cases, said cheerings were:
- For RD herself
- For the Crystal Empire as location for Equestria Games (she wanted revenge for Cloudsdale not hosting the games when she was little)
- For Scoot (her adoptive little sister)
All of the above were reasons/people she cared about. In buckball case, she thought the game itself was the most important thing, and that the cheering wasn't important FOR HER and FOR THE GAME.
But then, she changed her mind FIRSTLY because it was important for creatures she actually loved and cared about, so "if it's important for you, it's important for me!"
That's why also her Element, Loyalty, shines here: her loyalty towards those characters "forced" her to give her best to help them. Consequently, she discovered the true nature and fun of cheerleading, and she stopped underestimating it.
Shimmy Shake and Lightood are so sweet 💕💕. I love these two and I am chealeader in school and I love it, its beautiful.
Start of commentary section was over the top hilarious, OMG xD
As much as I like dash, she gotta chill a little. Also, kinda wish the TEACHERS at the school of friendship were teaching more often than learning the lessons.
This episode gives me more reasons to dislike her.

This episode was all bad writing, which is why I'm not angry with Dash. She's the element of loyalty. The writers seem to have forgotten that a lot throughout this show.
Yeah this is definitely one of those episodes that breaks your immersion in the world as that's just not dash

Rainbow could have done better from the start so she could show the squad that she cared for them but at least she did got good when she realized that was more wrong than she thought from Smother. This episode is ok I like it but it's not that good.

Honestly, this is my least favorite Rainbow Dash centered episode. Which makes me sad because I love RD! She's my favorite of the Mane 6
Upon watching this episode for the 16th time, I like it a little better. Because of her being embarrassed by her parents cheering. However, she should love cheering because she was trying to get Fluttershy to cheer for her during the Best Young Flying Competition. And many other instances of her thinking it's important. Or actually cheering for something or someone herself.

Just like many others, i think this is hands down one of the absolute worst episodes of season 9, although the cheerleading scene was pretty enjoyable!
Yeah, this is in my lower shelf of Season 9 episodes. Common Ground, Sparkle's Seven, and Sweet and Smoky. But the worst Season 9 episode for me was A Trivial Pursuit.
A Trivial Pursuit was seriously the most boring-ass episode of MLP that I've watched in its entire nine-season history.
I hate this episode because it makes it look like the writer never saw any of the seasons. Mostly because RAINBOW DASH KNOWS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF CHEAR!!!!!!! I feel they just made this episode just for the moral.

@my little brony at least the young flyers competition, explained why she wasn't confident. And Newbie Dash explained why she acted... different. This episode has no excuse or explanation that makes sense.
