    Thank you everyone for liking and subscribing. We are new to this CZcams video stuff so its very rough, as you can expect things will get a lot smoother as this series progresses and into the future.
    Apologies for Audio quality I am slowly getting use to using the microphones.
    NOTE; Here is a current scenario:
    If I want to leave the wharf, with current prices

    Good fishing! Brings back memories. You never mentioned snagged pots & breakoffs?? Lost pots per season? Down our way a diver earns a nice packet recovering them for the pro's.

      Haha, sadly most our lost pots are very deep.. we often can do a month or 2 without losing any. But on the off occasions.. it's pot after pot. Haha hard to know numbers.

      Are sea lice dangerous to humans and lobos?

    • @Aussielobsterhunters
      @Aussielobsterhunters  Před 4 měsíci +1

      He always misses, I just edit them 😉 I will do a future video of what happens to our lobster! 😀 on land.
      Ocean to plate kind of thing.
      Also, sealice aren't a problem.. that I know of. Other then eating my bait. I would say they could devour a human quickly

    Lockie’s a bloody good deckhand for such a young lad, better promote him to deck boss from now on. Do you have any dramas with seals getting into your gear, I know they can be a pain in the arse in other fisheries, Cheers.

      Hey, don't know if I can give him that special treatment yet.. he hasn't given my a foot massage yet 😉
      Ah no actually. Not an issue for us. They tend not to both with the crayfish.

    What’s the reason for tying the haul line at two points on your pots?

    • @Aussielobsterhunters
      @Aussielobsterhunters  Před 4 měsíci

      So the pots have what we call a 'strop' wrapped around it. It's thicker 12mm to 14mm line.
      With small bits of 6mm to 7mm twine tied on at various points, as a pot gets snagged in a rock the twine or 'break away' weaker rope snaps twisting the pots eventually (hopefully) releasing the pot from the rock.
      Our main line has a float end and a pot end, both ends are a single point of contact.

    I know exactly where you are. I was only on the water right there last September. Do you guys ever pick up a Yellowtail Tuna or two when they run ?

    • @Aussielobsterhunters
      @Aussielobsterhunters  Před 4 měsíci

      na cant catch tuna, they can be bycatch of albacore tuna when we catch them.

    How do the mesh pots compare to the stickies?

  • @stevenblack3092
    @stevenblack3092 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Do you use the stabiliser at rest only or does it work while mobile as well

    • @Aussielobsterhunters
      @Aussielobsterhunters  Před 4 měsíci +1

      We put the stabiliser in once we leave port, then pull it back up when we return. It stays in the whole trip.

    What the best bait too use please

    • @Aussielobsterhunters
      @Aussielobsterhunters  Před 4 měsíci

      difference in baits helps, you want something hardy that will last like heads, then have some soft bait like salmon or mackerel
