Girnar Hill is an ancient hill in Junagadh, Gujarat, India, with the following features and attractions :
- Geology: A major igneous plutonic complex with various rock types.
- History: Ashoka's Major Rock Edicts from 250 BCE, and additional inscriptions from later periods.
- Girnar Ropeway(Udan Khatola): Asia's longest ropeway, offering a 10-minute ride to the Ambaji temple.
- Temples: Guru Dattatreya Temple at the highest peak, Gorakhnath Temple, and several Jain temples.
- Tanks: Bhima Kunda, a tank measuring 70 feet by 50 feet, and other smaller tanks.
- Initial trek: The base of the mountain, known as Girnar Taleti, has several temples and sacred places.
- Festivals: The Maha Shivaratri fair is a significant event, attracting over a million pilgrims annually.
