- This footage is just over 2 minutes long, and has the team parading the trophy around The Dell before the game against QPR. There is also footage of the legendary Bobby Stokes receiving his Ford Granada (I think) before the game. Notice the huge "L" plate situated on the roof.
. there had been 250,000 fans out for the parade of the cup. Most of them wanted to go to this game too. 20,000 were locked out. Only 29,000 paid to get in, but another 5,000 got in free. The ground couldn't contain them all so there were thousands on the pitch, right up to the white lines throughout the match until one Saints' fan ran on and scored a goal and the ref abandoned the game. I was there.

This is magical footage. Channon was my hero as a kid. I wore number 8 throughout my career because of him. I even nicked his 'windmill' celebration. :)
He should be spoken of in the same breath as the very best England has offered over the years.

Great memories. I was one of those that got in for free (mate's mate managed to pull a Milton exit gate off it's runners) and was inside the penalty area by the time that final goal was (or wasn't) scored
