Wonders of Hungary - Egervár Castle

Egervár Castle is one of the noted examples of Renaissance-style castles in Central Europe. In the Ottoman era, it was a border fortress, but later, one of its fortified sides was demolished, and this military building became a representative residence. Its furnishings follow patterns of several styles from various ages, and in its courtyard, as a series of cultural programs dating back decades, theatre performances and concerts are regularly held in summer. A lovely blend of architecture, history and culture among the green Zala hills makes this place a Wonder of Hungary.
