The GBA was more comparable to a portable SNES IMO, not Gamecube.

LOL I definitely noticed that error, GBC was apxx NES level and GBA apxx SNES, seeing as the DS is much closer to N64 than GC this is obvious. Compare Resident Evil DS to Remake on GC....

For real and not to mention the psp is more the ps1. Infact the ps1 system was in it thats why it was so easy for us to emulate the ps1 cause itwasnt emulating. Every ps1 game is compatable on the psp. You cant play any ps2 games on the psp but psp games were releases on ps2 also. Confusing i know.

The gb and gbc were the same one just had color. Id compare it to playing on a black and white tv to a color tv but both the nes

They ported a lot of SNES games to it. Low res and zoomed in a bit, though. It couldn't even run an N64 game, much less a Gamecube game. Gameboy Color was also nowhere near the power of the SNES.

Apparently the PS1's audio hardware in particular is backwards compatible with SNES audio engine code. The rest of the system isn't, so it's not like you could load up a whole SNES ROM on the system, but games like Final Fantasy IV, V, VI, and Chrono Trigger, which are all ports of SNES games, reuse their original audio engines. This is because the SPC700 used in the Super Nintendo was developed by Sony, and the PS1 uses an updated version of this hardware.

The memory card thing is quite surprising that it wasn't well documented. I had that addon to play GB games on the PS1 back in the 90's. The sound wasn't the greatest, but the games did play fine. I had completely forgot about the floppy disk accessory. Cool to see it.
Also, the PS1 systems that didn't have a built in MPEG1 decoder needed an addon to play VCDs. I think the only models of the PS1 that couldn't play VCDs were the smaller PSOne systems (or at least I never saw and addon for VCD support for it and I doubt it was made because by the time the PSOne was released, the PS2 was already out which could play DVDs.)
Unfortunately, many commercially released VCDs were poorly made ad left a bad impression on people about the technology. It is possible to make high quality VCDs if you know how. I still make some.

VCDs in terms of quality were about on par with a VCR / VHS tape. Movies would often span multiple discs.
I remember seeing some of the VCD models of the play station in Thailand when visiting family in the early 2ks .
I haven't seen any in North America tho. This country pretty much skipped the VCD format and went from VCR to DVD.

@@linkfuture4561 VCDs were in the US, as there were some USA English releases, but as you mentioned, they were not common. The 3DO add on that allows it to play VCDs I think came with Total Recall as a pack in movie. The VCD quality that you're referring to is from back then. The quality wasn't that good mainly because they used bad sources to create the VCDs. Today, if you rip video from a Blu-ray or DVD and convert that to VCD, it will look BETTER than any VCD you see in a retail store. Especially if it came from a Blu-ray. It looks almost as good as a DVD on the VCD and blows away anything on a VHS tape. And you can have a movie on one CD. But again, you have to know how to do this because if you just create a typical VCD it won't look as good as what I'm talking about.

You can turn PlayStations into DJ Stations as long as you have the appropriate arcade sticks, DJ controllers and software. The first-generation beatmania games had PlayStation-exclusive home ports, and the ports were good for their time.

I liked your video, and nice decision keeping it under 5 minutes. Your research needs work though since there a few factual errors. Still a fun video though, keep up the good work.

My favorite Playstation add on was the Gamars unit that plugged in the back of the PlayStation to allow you to play Video CD, 1 movie spans over 2x CD's. I still have a fully working PlayStation and Gamars unit with a few movies on VideoCD like deep rising and Three Kings ect

you'd think undo-delete would be a feature that would help in selling the system, either person who created such feature died before telling anyone or sony just wanted to be dicks

The super game boy booster is pretty interesting. The down side is that it wont work on later PS1 models. Sony removed the port that it would plug into on later models. [it used to be on the back right]
