You see the BMW in front of you slowly and cautious make it to the other side, so you decide to floor it. 👍 outstanding thinking
Didn’t even wait 30 seconds to let the wake settle 😂
“Fuck it that much higher off roading thing made it, obviously I can too”
What gets me is they don't ever seem to try and teach themselves - like you all have a computer in your pocket that can literally show you a video of proper technique.
Yeah that's what I don't understand why are people going so fast through the water don't they know that's going to Splash into the engine
Slow and steady wins the race
He thought it was his chance to overtake a faster car.
That's probably the most competently driven BMW I've ever seen at the start
probably just borrowed it for the day
CGI is getting better than ever
Probably still doesn't know what an indicator is 😂
X3 wading depth 0.5metre. But go steady no spray and bow wave.
Granny just don’t give AF 😂
😂😂Granny with her blacked out alloys and tuned exhausts, lol😅
Didn’t even flood it!
Go Granny Go
@@Atom-56 She probably never even saw any water.
The best remedy against hydro locking is taking a little or bigger detour. Your car is not a boat.
Honestly it’s not that deep, but driving fast creates a massive bow wave. It’s incredible so few people understand the basics about engines
Yes the cars that went dead slow didn't even make a ripple. I crawl through a flood at a snails pace and the floods we get here in the Midlands are rarely over 4 inches deep. You just need to be patient.
The first BMW crossing is what to do vs the little red Ford with what NOT to do..perfect observation
Driving through water really needs adding to the driving test theory and hazard perception tests.
6:25 - Beautiful technique, and it's really simple - you just drive at the same speed as the wave so it doesn't swamp the air intake
*provided the water level is below your air intake, otherwise, dinna do it.
@@LexTNeville yeah but that water was clearly not too deep with proper technique.
I am shocked at how people see it getting too deep and never seem to think they can just reverse either
Dynamic pressure plays a big part. You can't compress a fluid but you can move slowly thro it
and if you're not sure how deep it is , drive in reverse , your exhaust will blow the water out , so that it does'nt go into the air intake lol .
I'm really impressed with that guy on his bike - he made it!
yes..but his wheel bearing are soon gone....whater and greas...no good. BUT fun. I have done it my self in a river.. and that is why I know about the wheel bearing.
@@mclaren122 That's good to know and a funny coincidence - I ordered new rear hub cone bearing parts yesterday. :D
(but for an older Fully I overhaul atm)
The fact that the 90 year old woman in the little red car showed us all how it’s done is brilliant 😂😂
Pension day. No stopping her. :)
Except she entered it far too quickly.
Obviously those little Seat's are great for wading, could not believe that after that fast entry into the water.
@@sbomorse My might be making a bow wave to get a clear run. These old girl`s drove army trucks in WW2. :)
Odds on she was clueless as to what was going on by the blank look on her face with her mouth open, glad she made it through though.
First time ever where we get to simultaneously watch the correct way, and incorrect way, to ford high water!
There’s always a BMW stuck in a flood anywhere in the UK.
By speeding through, these clowns are artificially making the water 2 or more times deeper than it actually is.
Shhhh don’t tell them
@@haider7866 not saying it's not entertaining. It's like a modern version of jousting or dragon slaying for idiots. An intelligence test if you like. You must be this smart to go on this ride. 🤣
Motorists really do have a "no one and nothing is going to get in my way when I'm behind the wheel" mentality 🙄
And cyclists apparently
You must surely be playing the "will they wreck their engine" game the moment you see how they enter the flood. I do!
Lol😂
Scary when you think that people with this mentality hold a driving licence😲
And Breed.
@@MX-MugDriving skills are non transferable through DNA but due to lack of male driving skills, it could instead be completely replaced by the parents mother side. Which wamen are notoriously known for .
@@Y2Kvidswomen aren't very good at parking the car though that seems to be inherited because I'm still yet to meet a woman that can reverse park properly! 😂😂😂😂
yes
I am a driving license holder. Quick question, if I drove through in reverse would I be ok😊
Yep, that Ford had no chance,, going that fast. The Volvo was really pushing his luck too. If you can see the bow wave over the bonnet, you're likely doomed. It's actually not that deep, but you have to go SLOWLY!!!
You can hear the engine go kerplunk on the first Volvo.
I hate that driver. Such a nice, off road built xc70 and you're ruining it by not having 5 extra seconds worth of patience.
I'm impressed by the cyclists who managed to pedal through. You'd be hoping you didn't hit a pothole.
But I guess his hubs are shot now.
@@broderbunto2305 much cheaper to regrease the bearings on a bike, than replace the engine, axles and hubs of a car. ;-)
@@JakobusVdL you really think someone who was too lazy to carry their bike through the water...would all of a sudden choose to pull apart their hubs and bottom bracket to replace the bearings? I doubt it!
@JakobusVdL have you bought Zipp wheels recently? 😂
It's fine everyone they had their mudguards on
The speed cracks me up.
It’s about 1ft of foot water and manages to go up the windscreen on a van
They probably close their eyes too...
These are the type of people who light fireworks in their house assuming it will end ok...
Lol😂
Flew over this today in a small plane, flooding everywhere.
Amazed that red Seat got through. But why do so many stay in lane, when it is often the deeper side???
When you see guy with a camera filming on the other end... How bad it can be?
I thought I recognised the Slash and Mountsorrel Lane. My parents grew up in Sileby so I remember many trips to my grandparents trying to get through the flooding. I'm surprised so many of the locals still haven't learnt to drive through such conditions!
BRAVO. People will never cease to amaze me.
Awesome video as always. They are very daring to travel through. It's amazing to watch 👍😎
Daring/thick.. you say potato...
Great lesson from the BMW, pity the Focus totally ignored it
Gearboxes and axles can still draw in water, by the “chill” effect causing the air inside to contract. Unless you have sealed, high-level breather tubes fitted - don’t wade…
Yup - well-known phenomenon with boat trailers. I wouldn't submerge any part of my car unless I had no other choice. The 4x4 guys with their snorkels are committed to the extra maintenance, just like boat owners. 🙂
@@joez.2794 My 27yr Defender 90 has factory breathers on gearbox, transfer case and both axles, also on aftermarket overdrive case. However the front swivel joints do not need water in the long-life internal grease. Half a wheel deep is enough, better yet if you first watch a Land Rover come through the other way…
3:02 that's the most cluttered dash I've ever seen
america has much worse!!
The 110 pick up gave a master class on how to drive in deep water just enough speed to make a small wave in front to lower the water around the engine 👍
that BMW X5 driver is a pro!
Old lady in the red SEAT Mii was my favourite there, you could see the determination on her face!
how did she even make it 🤣
That wasn't determination it was complete unawareness.
Love that ratty old range rover at the end!
The BMW driver is the first one ever to cross water in a video like a boss.
7:30
Anything for a day off 😂😂😂
Another cracking video. Any idea how much the locals charge for towing them idiots out of the floods...?
😂😂😂😂
It’s about £375 - my uncle was one of the victims in this video unfortunately
nah they do it 4 free source: i do recoverie @@whereslp
@@whereslpcard machines at the ready ?
@@whereslpDo you know if insurance covers the damage?
I newer new that I was addicted to watching cars go through floods
Nice film enjoyed it!
Great driving in the first Ford! 😂
POWER!
That Ford in the beginning coming in like Thunderbird 4 😂
So many drivers think "You need to create a bow wave ahead of the car!" - Don't people know there's a big open grill at the front to let air (and water) into the engine? 🤔
A small bow wave makes the water level behind the wave lower, you have to match a slow, steady speed so its always maintained and you never get ahead of it. The first BMW gets it right for a small section in the middle, but you can see frothy water entering, which is too fast and the bow wave breaks before exiting, which is also too fast.
Slow and steady wins. Once that bow wave is over your bonnet chances are you’re screwed.
Never ,never drive through a flood without knowing how deep the water is
Why would anyone stuff their car just to go to the shops ?
In oz we are told not to drive through flood water. 2 reasons. Water does not compress when it gets into the engine and two you could get washed off the road and then eaten by crocodiles.😅
Just to remind you all newbies on the road, your car can’t be used as a boat. Even if you manage to pass through the floor of your car will be flooded and damaged
4:00 See, the reason why this vehicle did not stall was becuase the air intake was above the waterline. This rules goes for ALL vehicles!
I’ve had a Jeep for decades and I was told early on that there is no reason to zoom through deep water. Just take your time. I think most of the passenger cars would have been fine if they didn’t zoom through effectively shoving water into the air intake.
Speed and power! 😅
Three cars were textbook, the BMW X5 (surprisingly for a BMW driver, the Waitrose delivery driver and finally the defender. How some of the others made it is incredible, unless they broke down further down the road. The old lady peering through the wheel, god was on her side.
Love the Land Rovers.
6.17 , I would not even think about driving through that !!!
Never seen a dreamer in a Beamer driving properly. Still bet the indicators don’t work though 🤣
TV'S crap tonight, so we'll go down the ford for entertainment and a laugh. Ric from Oz 🙍♂️ 🇭🇲 🦘
The volvo xc70 would have made it if speed was lower
There is a wetland area between Wisbech and Ely which can get pretty deep after heavy rain, I went through it a few times in the XC90 I had no problem, I wouldn't fancy it in my current car which is a Kia Carens. What I have found in 20+ years of driving which should really be common sense but by these videos obviously isn't is to drive as slowly as you possibly can so the water doesnt splash up at the front once you are through check your brakes and then you are good to go.
6:15 - have to congradulate the driver there, knew exactly how to drive through it
This is the best movie ever 🙂
At least the water was nice and clear so no danger whatsoever going off the side of the road 😂
Bad electrics and arrogant drivers with no driving ability makes it a certainty.😂
First clip, perfect example of how to do it right, and a perfect example of how to do it wrong. Usually people learn from others mistakes. Take a special effort to watch someone's success and then turn your effort into a complete disaster
Go granny in seat 😂
The insurance companies are going nuts over this video. A lot claiming flood damage
I've a Jaaag Xk and can take on One and a half inches of flood no problem, if I drive slowly
Nice to a landie balling out the frog car muppets
Yeah fast will get you there lol 😆 😊
The fools make our insurance premiums go up FFS
No, _driving_ into the floods is not covered. Neither when you decide to push your car off a cliff...
NEWS HEADLINES ,,,, at 8;15, a BMW actually went through some water without killing it's self !!!!!! 👍🏴
Is the first place leicestershire, specifically around wistow?
We do this in Australia after praying to the god of 4WD, quite often the road under water has washed away.
So there I was happily fishing & these two guys came along, one carrying & one riding a bike....
As iff granny gunned it in the Seat and made it out the other side 🤣
Now that’s how you do it well done that x5! On the other hand that ford just twated😂
Crazy......
Is this now going to become a new sporting event in flooded England?
Its funny ......you only see scrubbers in old land rovers whenever there is a flood or snow😂 😂😂😂😂
Miss those day of deep water driving in my landrover go anywere with a snorkel on your landie
Cyclists are going to wreck the bottom bracket bearings on those bikes. As well as going deeper than the wheel hubs will mean it will lead to a full bearing rebuild.
How boring are you? lol
why isnt the road(s) built higher? is there a nearby stream for drainage?
Because civil engineering projects cost millions. If idiots decide to drive through floodwater the consequences are on them.
The first two cars are perfect example of the right way and the moronic way 😂
Slow and steady does the trick. Avoid water going into the air inlets. Well done BMW and green Sprinter van. Oh and of course the old Defenders and Range Rovers. They can handle this.
Off topic, but one question I have for the British is the price of Diesel compared to regular Petrol in the UK, the same or one is more expensive than the other. From the USA, Thank you.
The price of diesel in the UK is slightly more than petrol.
You see the flooded road, you don't go through it...simple advise to saving thousands of pounds
That Seat Mii shoulda been toast, with the water going above the hood; suprised it didn't enter the intake.
Looking at engine bay pictues, the intake is behind the headlight and facing back, pretty hard for water to get there.
@@bavalenzuela Ah I see, so the angle plays a part, interesting. I suppose that would be down to the limited space present in the engine bay.
Land Rover showing everyone how it’s done. And I lush bed at that BMW sat there whilst far cheaper cars just drive round it 😂😂
Green van got it wright slow and steady
Flooring it is the opposite of what to do unless you have a snorkel 😅 go easy, no tsunami over bonnet keep air intake above water
8:40 like an aligator
2:51 Just by looking at the dash you can tell who's driving it, need I say more ?
its all about the approach and speed... so many people just fly thru it like idiots lol
I stay out of water deeper than 6 inches, as the air intake of my Nissan pixie-chariot is just below the front edge of the bonnet.
Why do people even risk driving through that water if you don't own one that is made for conditions like this?
I know nothing about cars so how the water get into the engine??
@ 6:41 very rare UK-spec Land Cruiser V8 200-series.
Was wading in my work mitsubishi L200 the last couple of days round leicestershire (what a vehicle), the ammount of idiots I saw blatting it was insane.
Would it not be a better idea to reverse through the water if in a small car?
I wonder if that would force water up the exhaust? Otherwise genius.
@@foellerd i would have assumed gases being pushed out of the exhuast would be enough to compensate...the engine is just an air pump!
the first person knew what they were doing
It`s that bad I had to get canal boat insurance for the Nissan Micra.
All drivers should see this: the Right and Wrong way to go through deep water.
