This is my first non tutorial style video. Hope you can appreciate this different style of content on the channel! Might do more in the future.
great overview reminds me of the talks I need to re-watch
Thanks! 🙌🏻
Didn't heard about this talk but thanks to this video I'm now tunned :)
You just won yourself a new subscriber, this is the first video of yours that I am watching ;-)
Oh, and by the way, it is noticeable that you are a Blender guy, - you chose to have your camera for this video to be pointed into a corner to get more depth to your video ;-)
Looking forward to learning more from you!
Animation pencils
Who remembers the days that everybody laughed at you when saying you use Blender in stead of Maya ?
That’s not too long ago!
Imagine live 3D collaborations in blender, teaching in that would be very interesting
Absolutely! Would be very cool 😎
So Gmod sandbox but infinitely more complex, absolute anarchy like we've never seen before
@@drumboarder1 Blender and Unreal are probably both aiming for this in some way. Something that combines the creative possibilities of both with VR Chat-style shared worlds and art/dev environments is how I picture the metaverse actually working (sorry fb horizons lol).
There are some plugins for that already if you search around, though sadly I've not gotten a chance to try any.
I even recall some animation team from Ubisoft released one on github around the time Ubisoft became a sponsor
@@spaceghostcqc2137 I really hope 'the metaverse" does not happen. I believe it will be detrimental to the true physical world we actually exist in. There is too much online not enough offline in our lives. Why do you think we are having so many problems in society? the 'metaverse' will become the ruin of everything.
Thanks so much for an amazing time at bcon Jesse!! Can't wait to meet again!
Same here! It was really fun and I can't wait for the next one. Thanks!
@@KaizenTutorials Well done, even Polyfjord wants to meet you ;-)
Haha yeah 🤗
Everyone focuses on what Blender does great, so I'll throw in the things it doesn't do well on. I've been a Blender user since NaN (Not A Number), and Blender still struggles with multithreading everywhere, a good example of this would be the Video editor, it can be fast if you just do basic editing, but it falls between a rock and a hard place the minute you start using various transitions, effects and things you'd normally use. This is due to some effetcs not fully multithreaded and adding these can increase rendertime from just a minute to several hours on an extremely powerful platform.
The same things goes for rigging that has angle solving issues and can grind Blender to a halt if you get into certain angle issues. This is still an issue today a decade later.
The one thing I use Blender more and more for - is realtime environments, meaning I like to animate and model in real-time. This is kind of like using actual Rendering less and less, and just using the Eevee environment more and more to instantly see and work with changes and progression as it moves along. The multithread issues not being present everywhere causes severe slowdowns here, and breaks the whole idea of real-time-rendering. My biggest hope for Blender is that it goes more and more in the direction of fixing this and improving on real time rendering work.
Thanks for the in-depth comment! Yeah Blender has it’s issues. I guess people just love it because at a basic level it does everything pretty well and it’s free. For hardcore purposes it can fall short opposed to other software that’s specialized obcipusly!
@@KaizenTutorials Sure. Blender has been a good personal friend of mine for over 20 years now, and it's the ONLY software on the planet that has literally been with me in my life this much, I can't imagine a life without it.
You wanna see something that is disturbily heavy? Use a png as plane and start messing with it, extruding, and distorting and arraying and whatever, if is a png with alpha, my lord is even worse. xD
Its a really good way to make quick graphics in motion with a stroke of ink. xD
any work on vse is very appreciated. would love any internal speedups and more rendering settings. ffmpeg being stuck behind clickable options means I always need to render to 16bit png before yet another render in ffmpeg. That's a lot of space and time.
I would also add the UV editor could do with some updating, better tools etc. Just feels a bit old compared to how good the rest of the software is.
The Donna Biscuits Geometry nodes was so cool and yet it went over my head..
_Not to mention, Emilis and his Geo nodes city was insane_
I couldn't grasp these...lol
Yeah they’re crazy cool.
the bcons talks never failed...so cool content and topics this year again...
Thank you!
I appreciate the breakdown on the Blender Conference for those of us who could not attend! Also, the links provided! Great video!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks :-)
Thanks for this video. Great overview of the Blender Conference! 👍
No problem, glad you like it! Maybe next year we can meet there or if there’ll be one in LA 🤞🏻
Thanks man! super cool to see someone making a recap of this and filtering the best ones to watch! I'm adding those talks to my watch list. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Some many exciting things on the way and so much that is already fantastic. Love Blender.
Thank you! And yes so many exciting things for sure 💪🏻
I’ve been waiting for this video! Well done mate! Blender con was so nice this year.
Yeah it was, thanks! Nice meeting you there. Crazy your channel blew up so much! Confmgratz on that 🙌🏻
Great video, very generous with your resources!
Thank you! ☺️
Fantastic summary of all that's good at the Blender conference.
I'm most excited about the NRP and the Grease Pencil talks, thanks for putting these together.
Thanks! Yeah there's so much to be excited about. Ofcourse I'm geeking about GeoNodes mostly haha!
I really appreciate this video, Thank you Kaizen
Great to hear, thank you!
This guy deserves so much more recognition, Huge inspiration!
Thank you (if you meant me lol)
Thank you for great advice! I definitely should find the time to listen to all those speakers!
No problem! It’s a ton of free and valuable info so yeah definitely 💪🏻
Great video mate!
Thank you so mmuch for sharing your experience. :)
Thanks a lot! Glad you like it.
What a kindness!
I admire you.
Thank you, very kind of you!
I love your editing style!
Thank you!! Glad to hear it 🙌
Simple but yet effective
thanks your talk! so helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so very much for this video - I have nearly 30 years in 3D animation and although I use Blender I'm watching the world accelerate awy into the distance. I used to program and understand Geo Nodes but these talks I hope will get me into gear with this stuff - I have so many ideas for story telling (remember that?) that coudl be greatly enhanced with these new technologies!
You’re very welcome! Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with all developments, especially if you’re well versed in the software. The talks will definitely inspire and showcase good new ways of using Blender I think. And about storytelling; with grease pencil, rigging and geonodes the time is now to use Blender for that 💪🏻
Good to see someone talking about this in a sensible manner. it's one of the most versatile tools for us artists, work with Blender, it's community, Devs and each other; to share what you know and have; so that anyone creative can use it in some way or another as the tool to do what they want, not what others want. Work smarter, enjoy it, have fun with it, whatever you want to do with it. It's an amazing resource.
Thanks! And yeah you’re absolutely right. 🙌🏻
Can't get a job... on top AI is already settled..
Any Alternative you got?
@@lavatr8322 please rephrase question
Love that Blender is continuing to go forward, I would love a simple app for basic 3D modeling that doesn't suck on Android.
Yeah, that would be very cool! Especially since it's free aswell 💪
Same to me! I would love an app like such! It would be a convenient way to do some 3D modeling on the go!
is nomad not enough?! it is more of sculpting tho
I'm new to 3D but I heard that it can export to blender
I appreciate this style of video!
Awesome thanks for the feedback
We are blessed to have such a powerful tool available for anyone, For free, and forever.
what you said gave me an "aha" moment, Because what kept me struggling with Blender was me trying to copy and stick to some people's style or workflow, But what should be done instead is to find my own style and preferences. there is no right or wrong way to use Blender, You don't work for it, You make it work for you!
Thank you for this amazing video, Can't wait for your next tutorial/Tips! ❤️
You’re absolutely spot on! Glad to have inspired you. Happy Blending ❤️
imagine they get bought by somebody and it turns into a 300 dollar a month subscription
That can’t happen! The open source doesn’t allow it to be sold. Not even by Ton Roosendaal himself. Blender is and will ALWAYS be free!
Thank You for the Summary
No worries!
The talks by the Daniels were GREAT!! Also the greebles was very cool.
Yes, definitely! Amazing knowledge and skill 💪🏻
had not heard of the initiatives. i went gooey eyed with excitement.
Awh yeah they’re super interesting
exporting as an app is genius and makes so much sense. I use godot and the process of prototyping an app is so fast that it might as well be a consumer feature.
It really is and I'm super curious how easy and complete the feature will be. But even if it's just basic (which it probably won't be) it will still be a very amazing new thing we can do in Blender! 💪
Blender just gets more and more powerful. I hope to learn at least 20% of its potential. hehehehe Thanks to you all!
Right there with ya. If anyone can truly master over 50% of Blender their pretty much a wizard lol
0:31 wow.😊
That is Ada Sokół, check out her talk for sure!
Excellent
Thanks
Love ur vids
Thanks! 🙏🏻
pretty intereting
thanks
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
Looking at how badly Zuck misjudged his Metaverse project and Meta’s subsequent collapse, I’m honestly surprised to see anyone still talking about it as something that’s pressing or relevant. It already existed in many forms for decades.
I agree it’s not coming in Zuck’s preferred pace. But I do believe it’s coming. Meaning more and more 3D assets will be required. Higher quality for better immersion etc. So just the idea of it coming puts pressure on 3D as a whole to develop faster. Which is a good thing I think!
That Zucks Metaverse failed is because he is obviously not aware of any of these amazing tools existing today for building 3D environments. Not Blender, not Maya, and also not Unity or Unreal Engine. Instead he creates a crap looking world with I dont know what kind of software with floating upper bodies as avatars. It looks like it predates year 2000 even and he wonder why it fails. Well... That is why
Zuck is still planning on moving forward with cryptocurrencies that can pay for services inside facebook, instagram, etc.
This infastructure has the ability to allow the metaverse to take a next step that other vr communities are yet to take.
It's not worth investing in right now but probably shouldn't just ignore it.
@@johnpekkala6941 I saw a demo where the avatars have legs now. It's a huge step forward for Meta, ba dum tss!
@@Holphana a wasteland spearheaded by zucc and filled with cryptobros sounds like a fucking nightmare lmao
I maybe would have changed the order of the waves, but that cartoon about all the things coming for humanity is pretty good.
Hahaha yeah it's a great metaphor
THANK YOU!
Blender for EVER!
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
and know I'll have to watch all the talks 😂 great video
Thanks! Yeah there's so much to see and learn, amazing!
Great to have met you!
Likewise!
Daniel Bystedt = Donna Biscuits...
🤣🤣🤣
lol yeah 😂
X: But can you....
Blender: Yes
Yes.
you are like may fav one now
Awh thank you! 🖤
I think it’s time I jump into Blender!
There's no time like the present!
Me who didnt know about Blender, are all out of the sudden fascinated and ready to sumerge myself into Blender. Thanks CZcams and thank YOU!
That's great to hear! Good luck on your Blender journey 💪
Nice video. I am looking forward to blender store or something similar where people can sell blender assets and apps explicitly.
Yeah me too. Curious which kind of addons they'd deem necessary!
I am convinced that Blender might be the tool to create an example for the future transportation system with a city like Munich or Berlin. After that we do think of a virtual NY version of the best public transport option available in today's world.
And it is not some sort of a hyper loop 😁
That would be cool!
I'd like to see blender with game art focus modelling/sculpting/retopo/uv/baking/ app on ipad or other tablet devices with full pen interaction support.
Yeah that would be amazing 🤩
I could imagine a network to allow real-time collaboration.
Would be dope!
if blender can do VR like gravity sketch it's going to be be my all in one tool.
Hopefully one day 💪🏻
You blew my life.
Haha is that a good thing?
Letss go, notification on
Yeaaaah! 😎 see you there 💪🏻
I hope they fully support Metal and build a native ARM for M-series chip
I hope it for all Mac users aswell!
Thanks for the video, though some feedback: You should really fix that huge reflection issue for your mic. Maybe hang up a thick curtain behind you. The triangle foam is for higher frequencies - the bass freq needs way more mass to be absorbed.
Yeah I need to get more stuff in the room, and maybe get a different type of mic better suited for this space.
Wow spaceships are sci fi style
Yeah cool right?!
Outro track bangs
Thank you! It’s called Slipping by AGST
I'm a total noob when it comes to CGI art...like I don't know ANYTHING, but I still found this video pretty neat! Can't wait til I nail the basics down so I can start creating realistic renders with cars and whatnot :D
Awesome to hear! Keep Blending and you’ll become a pro eventually 💪🏻🤘🏻
"VR/AR tech" I have always wanted to have a VR environment for software like Blender, people already do such amazing things in programs like OpenBrush I feel like being INSIDE of blender would bring a whole new perspective to the what we can accomplish.
Would be cool, for sure!
After 8 months learning 3d and Blender in my free time i started a short movie that i will release as my 1 year project been working on it for the past 3 months hehehe.
Awesome! Maybe you can send it in for the next Suzanne awards for BCON 2023 🙌
@@KaizenTutorials I dont know what this contest is hehe
Is there a website with more info?
Yes there is conference.blender.org/2022/festival/
@@KaizenTutorials Thanks a lot, sadly my characters and animation come from iclone so im not eligible .
Aah ok! That’s a shame, but maybe further in the future then 💪🏻
i wonder how many old ladies found themselves in there, hoping they found lots of ppl that are juice enthusiasts... one lil ol lady meet another lil ol lady and her friend says smirking "lets 'blend-in' huhuhu", "Oh boi! i hope they let us sample some soup too..." q=D
Hahaha smooooooooothies 🍍🍌🍇🍓
Blender is the best!
Yessss 🙏
I saw a thumbnail with blender inside a tablet I demand to see content about that thumbnail!!! 😭
Haha well uhh it's coming! Blenderapps are coming!
he says that there is no right or wrong in blender... that's proof that he hasn't seen the messed up things I have done in blender so far (Im starting and it's overwhelming XD)
Hahaha, well you learned a lot from those right? So in the words of the legend Bob Ross; There's no mistakes, just happy accidents.
@@KaizenTutorials you are right! but I gotta say that Blender is bast and difficult to tackle, I do a lot of 2d stuff (drawing, painting, photography, etc...) so I have been using Photoshop since I can remember, and now I am starting with 3d printing and I have no problem with the CAD programs, but I wanted to make more artistic 3d printing projects and Blender is the right tool, but damn is being hard...
0:08 Pablo Vazquez :D
Yes! He’s super nice, great person!
I really like the Idea having Blender on my Ipad
Makes that 2
"...you're probably aching to get started..." Yeah, I started while you were talking, lol.
Haha nice! What are you making? 🤗
@@KaizenTutorials Nothing major, just a quick test of a deforming or "bubbling" plane...had to get the idea out of my head. Didn't save it, either, lol.
Haha I completely understand. Something pops up, you test it. You like it or you dont. Doesnt really matter anyway, just neeeded to get it out of your system!
good introduction to these people... im new to blender and just starting out, so im new to these people..... im also trying to figure out wtf blender is at the moment..... it looks wildly amazing and impressive that it can somehow do 2D painterly style animations but its a 3D modelling software???
Haha yeah Blender is very versatile! Thanks!
The thumbnail got me lol
😂
I'd really prefer they get the basics done first. Like successfully being able to export materials to unity and UE5.
Hmm yeah I can see that. I don't use game engines myself, but I think it makes sense if they want to become industry standard.
Fuck yes this is the blender year I’m locking in full mastery. Iv been using blender since March last year no more Maya or 3ds max. Full on Blender.
Niiiice! 💪💪
I am happy for the apps. I have nomad because there was none. 👍🏼
That's great! Hopefully the future will bring Blender and maybe some others aswell. I think tablets are perfect for sculpting and stuff like grease pencil!
WOW! Thanks for your vlog! Gosh! I have subscribed! Here's a question that I am sure you must get asked every once in awhile... Here goes... How do I - as a total newbie - get started with Blender? I have never used it before. I have always been interested in 3D, and I think it is time to take the plunge. What kind of PC spec am I looking at? I am looking to get an AMD Ryzen 7 based PC. I am on a budget... Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
No problem! Thanks for subscribing.
Getting started you indeed need a decent PC! If you go to my precious video I’ve got all the parts that im currently using listed. It’s black friday sale on amazon now so a good time to buy parts! A ryzen 7 based pc is perfect and mainly invest in a decent GPU! I’d advice a rtx 20 series or better.
Then with your new PC getting started with Blender is just a matter of downloading and installing, finding your favorite tutorials and trying to follow along as best as possible. Do take tutorials like knowledge though, don’t just blindly follow them. Try to learn the techniques shown and dont be scared to deviate from the given visual topic to apply the knowledge to your own designs!
Now it’s a matter of practice and putting in the hours! Keep at it and I’m 100% sure you’ll become great at 3D.
Mac?😊
@@KaizenTutorials Thank you! Much appreciated! All the best!
@@nycgweed I prefer PCs as they are more expandable, and I have loads of applications for it that aren't on the Mac. If I had invested into the Apple ecosystem, I probably would have gotten a Mac.
Thanks for your suggestion. 🙂
Do review the sound editing for a next video. There is a lot of high 'clicking' on the R's
Yeah sorry, can’t seem to get decent audio from my mic. Might get a new one soon.
I can't believe you didn't include Blender Bob's VFX talk, one of the most important, due to the importance of Blender making its way into the VFX industry,
Sorry! It was a fascinating talk for sure. Just not one of my favorites. But then again I’m not a company in the VFX scene ;-)
More freedom for artists
Absolutely and all that open source, for free! It's so amazing.
@@KaizenTutorials agreed 😊
Blender the best
Yes it is!
I’ve been waiting for somebody to combine blender to a game map editor. In other words make it easier to create worlds and environments by drag and drop. As it is now you have to create everything inside blender. My biggest problem when I made an animation was rigging the very intricate problems that popped up was annoying as hell. I would love to be able to just grab a pre-rig character and drop it into an environment and point and click where I need it to go
Well I don't know about the environment stuff. But they are working on a default rig library, which should make rigging a LOT easier.
Your choice of music is always great... Can i know the outro music name?
Thank you! The outro song is called Slipping by AGST. :-)
I would like to add one more to your list of "things blender is used for" ....imho it is one step from the best 3d printing design tool. It lacks perfect "cad-like addon" but even at this point it is awesome. It is anarchy compared to fusion360 (and tools like that) and it allows you to mess up much easier, BUT after a while you are waaaaaaay more productive
Thanks for sharing! Didn't know people really did 3D printing stuff in Blender. Good to know!
Blender with a proper parametric modelling engine and UX of Fusion (or even Shapr3d in terms of accessibility) would change industrial design for good. Sort of how Fusion360 did by being so free with its licensing at the start and then Autodesk did the rugpull, as it is always the case with proprietary tools. I wouldn't be comfortable switching to Blender right now, but I'll definitely pick it up when I start doing more free-form modelling.
@@TheCyberSpidey i think parametric design is overrated for most cases ...dont get me wrong, i love it, but when what you wanna do is create hook for keys next to door, you get it done so much easier with "manual labor" of blender.
Then when you think you gonna change it a lot later and for some reason it would be hard to change (very very rare case in my experience) you have options. You can write python script (approach i prefer as a programmer) or use geometric nodes (which is basically the same but much harder to read once it gets complex, subjective opinion tho)
Having this CAD params middleground would be nice addition that i would very rarely use but would love to have that option when really needed.
@@TheCyberSpidey I'm pretty sure there is a cad modelling addon being worked on called cad sketcher, it looks promising.
This app is worth its weight in gold and these creators are good people for charging what they do. It's a great app to make content for... Over the long term value wins.
Couldn’t agree more!
how do these guys survive and manage to make money.. this is crazy
Ton is a genius
Donations! That's it, people and companies supporting Blender. You can to, if you want to on their website :-)
Will they still not have a lock ratios option in the render output?
Not that I know of
I wish Blender 3D can make Hologram.
It can with the right shader. Or you don't mean that?
Bring blender to ipad!!! They dont have to bring all the tools if its not possible.
Hopefully soon!
Does it have material editor finaly? You know, feature that is industry standard everywhere.
It has a shader node based material editor, if that's what you mean. If you mean full blown texture paint like features such as Substance, then no it doens't have that!
One thing I'm in doubt about recently is, will AI affect the 3D industry? Like we're hearing AI will replace a lot of stuff... so will blender be required more or less?
That's a difficult question to answer honestly. But my 2 cents on it is that some tasks will be automated by AI, however a human component will always be either necessary or desirable. I see AI more as an opportunity to maybe save me time and workload with things I don't want to be fussed with anyways. Atleast that's what I hope it to be eventually!
Thank you for reporting. While explain in this video I was wondering to define how difference between “artist” and “creator”?
You're welcome! Hmm, well I'd say the biggest difference is a cretor is a broader term. As a CZcamsr I'm also a creator. An artist is more a person who truly creates an artistic impression of something. Wether in real life or in 3D. A creator is someone who makes things, which do not necessarily have to be artistic!
@@KaizenTutorials Thank you for reply. It is not big difference how I understand that feel of art is a key. Also it may be harder to create personality uniqueness on 3DCG than traditional handmade stuff.
I know.
Even I have watched them but faster speed
Lol
haha nice!
could you breakdown Emilis's Presentation?? may be a tutorial.
Maybe! Not sure if there’s enough there to break down. 🙌🏻
7:00 something just occurred to me when I watched this. Is it possible to create a 3d matrix of kit-bashing parts and address those objects by the matrix using XYZ to RGB to create new ships with custom uv maps?
Oof that's a good question. And yes it might very well be possible. By instancing all the objects on a grid you could technically then instance single 'points' from that grid. Effectively instancing parts. But I've never tried it and am not 100% sure that will work.
@@KaizenTutorials my thought would be like an inner asset library addressed internally with XYZ or RGB from 0 to 1 (0 to 255)^3 for a literal 16 million pieces. To access easily.
Ok, I'm gonna try to get this started. Where my damn python book?
Hahaha nice one, good luck!
I want to start my blender or 3D journey and next year I'm going college which means I won't always be home. So my question is from your perspective what do you think have the power and will work for me, a custom build home desktop or a laptop and if it's laptop (should I go for gaming PC or which kind)
I will really appreciate your feedback
I replied to your other comment!

For now just PC but when Blenderapps come it might come to mobile devices
i am a simple man. i see polyfjord, i like the video.
Hahha nice! 💪🏻
One thing I wish blender could do is handle NURBS models. I mainly use it for quickly modifying Product models and rendering them or animating them. but the transition from NURBS to Mesh is rough and I haven't found a good solution yet
I can understand that! It's always hard having to do a different workflow than the one you like best. There is some NURBS stuff in Blender, but I've never seen anyone use it and it doesn't seem like a full fledged feature.
Why isn’t there a mobile Blender app for iPad yet? I wonder if there is any plan to make it happen soon
Yeah so they're making Blenderapps, which will be smaller, specialized standalone apps. Although they didn't confirm that they're coming to mobile, they also didn;t deny it. So if that's the case we can create standalone apps for mobile devices. E.g. only greasepencil on mobile devices. Not complete blender, just parts which you need!
@@KaizenTutorials oh got it! Thank you for the answer ^^
Heey! What about Blender Apps and Extensions Plataforms??
Well all of them are coming in the near future. They haven't given an exact date. But I'm expecting it to be somewhere in 2023, hopefully!
sorry this is off topic but where did u get that jacket please?
Haha no worries! Not sure which store I got it from. But it’s from a brand called Hallinger. FYI i’m dutch so it might be a specific brand from here.
