    This is golden footage.
    Wing Chun is so useful for improving clinchwork.
    The "sticky hands" (chi sao) and "pummeling" drills from Wing Chun Kung Fu and Wrestling respectively blend so well with each other, together they make one of the most fundamental drills you can train with in all of martial arts.

      That's what I'm thinking. Looks good for clinching and I feel like in jiu-jitsu it is good on fighting for the colar grabs.

    • @Bene_Singularis
      @Bene_Singularis Před rokem +8

      @@cesarcrash You're very right. Greg Nelson uses it for all of his gripfighting, including while on the ground, both from guard and top position. He even mentionned that the elbow blocking to prevent re-drags in wrestling is simply "bong sao" from a Kung Fu point of view. That guy trained many things to improve his clinchfighting even further, including Wing Chun, and he's among the best masters of the clinch in the world. Kevin here posted videos with him multiple times. That's the true essence of mixing martial arts.

  • @lincolnpascual
    @lincolnpascual Před rokem +18

    I hate when people say Wing Chun is useless... If you can't see the functionality in this style ESPECIALLY for boxing, you have much to learn, grasshopper.
    Wing Chun's only flaw is that it focuses on a transitionary range. It's not striking, it's not grappling, it is the bridge between. The fundamentals of Wing Chun will make your counterpunching game, as well as your clinching game, EXPONENTIALLY better. As someone whose base is rooted firmly in Kali, Silat, and Muay Thai, Wing Chun helped me immensely in blending the three (along with other systems I've had the privilege of training, which are far too numerous to mention) into something that has served me well enough to ensure my survival through 20 years of warfare, majority of it spent in CQB and Recon.
    I don't claim to be a martial arts expert, but I do know how to use logic, common sense, and deductive reasoning. So, as Bruce Lee said, "be like water". There is something of value in everything and anything you do. You just need to figure out the application.

    • @Bene_Singularis
      @Bene_Singularis Před rokem +4

      Totally. I used Wing Chun for improving my clinchwork a lot. Kung Fu's "sticky hands" and wrestling's "pummeling" drills blend so well together, they make for one of the best martial arts exercise one can get.

    As a long time wing chun practitioner who also trains mma. I gotta say you are one of the best on CZcams. To many people think learning wing chun and hat flailing the arms is how it works they wanna feel like Bruce Lee without learning fully. You have a very detailed explanation of the principles of wing chun and I have learned a lot. I really want to use my wing chun in the octagon one day to prove its effectiveness. Kung Fu takes longer than many other arts because it requires more discipline to master but once mastered it’s highly effective

    Sifu's got them reads. He's so comfortable with his moves that he controls the flow. That's how martial arts are won. It's a manipulation of not only your body to do what you want it to, but manipulating your opponent to be where you want them to be. When you're going that fast, the opponent doesn't even realize they're out of place until they are. Unless they're also a master of their art. Then it gets into the chess match to see who can put the other out of position first. Moves and counter moves

I have seen too many people go direct to two hand chi, loose structured and then they get caught in Left Right rhythm of LRL RLR RLRL - 1 beat rhythm, constantly crossing centre line. Instead dan chi, builds the reflex and structure to fight on one side keeping half beat rhythm - LLLR RRRL RRLL LLRR LLL RRR
