Dude I was so scared it would sell knowing how rare and the demand for Chiron’s. Surprised nobody tried to get it for 2.7m for how incredible that car is along with them not making the famous engine no more. The spec though is unbeatable so I’d say taking an offer like 2.425m isn’t worth it. Your car will only appreciate unless an absurd market crash happened.
It won't appreciate, look at Veyron prices, millionaires want the latest and greatest not an asset that costs them hundreds of thousands in maintenance even if they only drive it twice a year, after a decade of ownership you will have spent more on the car than it cost to buy, personally I think these will settle around the 2 million mark and stay there for years
@@bobmarley2140 tbh I’d say lower than the 2s. Majority of the veyrons are selling between 900k-1.2m (granted there are outliers). But, you figure if majority of the market hovers at around 57% retained value, expect 1.5m-1.8m for the chiron in years to come!

I can't believe so many people from that auction would be your viewers! Something is up - maybe the market isn't right at the moment? Anyway, I think you'll be fine - a package deal for the EB110 and a Veyron sound very managable, although I expect you might have to take a bit of a loss on it, just because it already didn't sell once.
No but people aren't stupid, they would have done their research before bidding on the car. Probably hoping to get some kind of deal because its a "CZcams" Chiron.

@@Chris-hw4mq I mean eventhough it has ppf and everything the car is been abused as hell, I'm not talking about launching it and stuff like that but spitting on the car, pushing the car on ice and the brake light is not working also the amount of people who knows the car already from a CZcamsr , everything about the car is a hassle

That was a really low bid.. The only Chiron in Norway sold a few weeks ago for $3.5 mill. The owner said insurance for it was $500k a year...

If I did my research right, 2019 Chiron's were 2.9 Mil new, which means Steve was trying to sell it without a loss. That's bold! They are such collector cars destined to appreciate, so I guess I can wrap my head around it--uh, assuming the past is a perfect predictor of the future, which I feel like is something you're not supposed to do? Anyway, I hope it works out like that. I will really enjoy that vicariously.

Can someone explain how the auction exactly works ? How is it set up to be allowed for the seller to be able to refuse the highest auction bid ? Used to think the highest bid has it locked and seal. Cheers.
Like many other auctions, Sotheby’s holds a first price ($2M) ascending bid auction, where bidders continuously bid until the highest price wins. Sotheby’s also uses a reserve price ($2.7M) to ensure that the seller makes some profit relative to how they value the auction piece. They begin bidding below the reserve price and slowly work up (ascendingly) from there. Sotheby’s does not sell the item if the betting value does not surpass the reserve price.
@@tonyreburiano501 Thanks for clarifying. However what is the point for starting the bids below the reserve price ? Why not start the bids at the given reserve price to assure the auction sale goes through if any bids are actually made, therefore avoiding disappointment on behalf of the bid winner ?
@@BoNdilmalti Sometimes if an auction ends and highest bidder was close to reserve, the parties talk and work something out. Seller may have had a reserve in mind but when faced with walking away with nothing or 200k less than expected, some settle when a serious deal is on the table even if its below expectations.
3:30 - No one is paying $2.7M for a 9,000+ mile Chiron. A pristine white on black example with under 2,500 miles traded at 2.6M out in Florida... A car with lower miles, less people have sat in it, no video evidence of it being abused...
