Gotta be honest after you mentioned "helping thousands of students" I figured this was going to be a bunch of clickbait BS but was shocked to find that you then gave us ACTUAL PRACTICAL TANGIBLE tips on making music! Thank you for surprising me!
(Two year later edit:) After watching this video and posting this comment, I started on my first song, hardly can believe it's already been so long but I spent a year on it before publishing it. Despite knowing that the chances of it ever reaching a significant audience were miniscule, I absolutely don't regret the learning experience of creating a song by ear, and trying to make it sound as realistic as possible. It's inspired by the 70's and 80's progressive epics that molded my tastes, bands like Pink Floyd and Rush. If anyone wants to hear it, it starts a bit slow but grows in intensity and complexity until the end: czcams.com/video/7S7SuOwiBhI/video.html

  • @cody42693
    @cody42693 Před 4 lety +10

I'm a longtime subscriber and this video still blew my mind. I knew of chord counting as a technique, but I never really have dived into it and definitely have no music theory. I would just pick notes and keep them close to each other until I found something that worked. But this is way faster, and the fact that you can transpose them to any key is what really excites me! Lack of music theory has been kinda killing the fun I feel when producing music, but now it's back full swing and I can't wait to start making music again! Thanks bro!
Also I really need to jump on the Splice train lol. Soooo convenient.

When I first found your channel I defaulted to cynicism. But I'm glad I listened through this one. I'm not really a fan of EDM, but it's clear as day that you're a genuine guy and I love that your love for making music... and teaching/demystifying the process of music-making... is your fundamental message.
I quit playing guitar and piano after many, many years of practice, because I found that delving too far deep into music theory and always trying to improve technique sucked all the fun out of it. Thanks for reminding me (and others, probably!) that underneath all of that pressure, we first start making music to communicate FEELING.. and that its important to have FUN WITH IT!

Such a brilliant vid bro 🔥🔥🔥
One that was missing on CZcams
I’m a noob, so I also wonder what’s the difference in
    making songs for different genres,
Your steps must be the same cause every song consists
Of chords and a melody, so where the point where you decide
about the genre of your song in these steps of yours?
Or is it just the drums and sound selection?
So for a hip hop song use a trap drum kit and you have it?
Or can you say that when you used the arpeggiator, that was
the moment when it turned to a EDM/ House track.
Or is it about scales bro I don’t get this.
A vid for the different genres would be mind blowing.
    Greetings man

To be Honest... This is the "BEST" Tutorial that I've watch so Far. I'm a big Fan of you Sir. This is really helpful for us Teenager Producer that has no Music Theory. Once again, this is a very helpful tutorial. I just subscriber your CZcams Channel BTW. 😅💕
