York Flood, Elvington and Sutton, February 2024

  • Footage over and across the Sutton Bridge of the local flooding to Elvington and Sutton-upon-Derwent. We've not see the grass on the Ings or spill fields since November.
    Surely it's got to get a bit dryer soon....

    must be terrible to get house insurance... hard to tell in places where the canal ends and fields start

      Luckily its an old established village where the houses are all 4-6 metres above the Ings and the flood plane. There have been plans in the past to build there!!!
      The river does a sharp turn under the bridge, and splits to fill the canal to the right of the main river - very hard so see when it’s be submerged for so long!
