    Rod! I’m convinced you could do this job in your sleep. I guess if it were me and paying for parts only, I’d have to go for it and get it back out on the road. Best of luck to you and keep us posted!
    Thank you once again.

    "I think you figured out that I don't do this work for any fiscally sound reasoning" - yep. As I like to describe my identical behaviour - "I'm good at two things: pretending to be an adult and bad financial decisions". Best of luck finding the parts, the ZZR400 and 600 were very famous for 2nd gear going out.

    I have a 98 Yamaha YZFF 600R with the same issue. I don't have the grinding, it just doesn't want to stay into gear. One of these years I'll tear into it...just have too many projects. :)

      Shift Fork & drum a minor part that is not minor to fix. I am pretty sure Yamaha & Kawasaki shared transmission components. Thanks for the feedback & View!

    Sometimes we just have to put our head down and keep moving forward. You will have a very cool bike when you are done. Keep your eyes on the prize, and good luck! BTW, Your videos are excellent! Please do a follow up on the BMW R1100RT project. That is the first video that alerted me to your channel. I have a bunch of motorcycle buddies watching your videos now also. Keep it up :)

    I have been working on my bike, and its logistically frustrating. If people would just take care of bikes from new, the used market would be worth more to all involved.

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  Před 4 měsíci

      It is a question of time and money. The more time someone spends taking care of a bike they typically want more money when they go to sell it...🤔 Thanks for the feedback & View!

    Might be worth looking at swingarm bearings, there was a fair amount of movement in them

    I’d love to know how to order Kawasaki parts from Japan to the USA. In particular, I want to find a 1st Gen ZX-25R factory exhaust to put on a ZX-4RR. It was the small under-body exhaust instead of the larger side-mounted exhaust they added across the board to meet Euro requirements.

    • @RodRidesWrenches
      @RodRidesWrenches  Před 4 měsíci +1

      First, find the part numbers you need by using an reputable English parts fiche, parzilla, revzilla, what have you. Then go to japan.webike.net/ and search the part. 30 year old parts like this are duty free into Canada, probably the same in the USA.

    drag racer people back cut their gears. just taking a file to the dogs to give them geometry that would make them stay together. wonder if this process could be used to resurrect a bad gear for cheap. they have worn in an angle that pushes them apart witch ruined the fork and drum, correcting the angle seems like the perfect solution.

    Hi, I’ve got the same problem with 2nd gear, I just can’t for the life me seem to be able to the the magneto/flywheel off at all will not budge, am I missing something the Haynes manual don’t help much from what I can see.

    • @RodRidesWrenches

      Are you using the proper flywheel puller tool? Use an electric or pneumatic impact to get the force you need to screw the Puller bolt in see this video for when I replaced the sprag starter clutch. czcams.com/video/HUJXsJkg2ms/video.htmlsi=BS9tNcgtJTWLN34p

      @@RodRidesWrenches thank you for your reply! I did find that out, after scouring forums lol. But i used a big adjustable Spanner and my breaker bar to get it off with the puller.
