Between Upwork and a janitor's job, I'd choose the latter. Reason - I invested 100+ hours searching for jobs, sending customized proposals and all I got was one client who decided to close the contract. Why? Not because I underdelivered but because she found the originally agreed amount of 10 dollars per blog article very expensive. That's UPWORK!
I mean if I had invested those many hours searching for a janitor's job, I'd have found one already and would have made some bank for sure. Freelancing on Upwork is even more difficult than finding the job of a scientist at NASA. Anyone who claims that freelancing on Upwork will make you more bank than a 9-5 is a big time liar.
I love the honest review. I've been looking into Upwork over the past week, and I noticed a lot of companies in the US, UK, Australia and so forth are looking for employees who they can pay $5 per hour. It's far below the minimum wage in these countries, so I get the impression Upwork and Fiverr enable companies who want to avoid paying the minimum wage or an honest wage.
As a fellow software developer, I have been trying to secure jobs on Upwork. Despite crafting compelling proposals, it seems to be an arduous task to elicit responses from clients and secure work. Despite having undertaken over 40+ jobs on Upwork, it appears that I am back to square one with every new job application, despite having a well-established profile that showcases my previous work. It can be disheartening to observe clients settling for cheaper labor, even if they do respond. While some may suggest that persistence pays off or success on the platform is achievable (Most of them have a vested interest in you spending more time/money on these platforms), I, as a seasoned freelancer on these platforms, am aware of the harsh realities. It is, perhaps, better to leave these platforms to third-world country sweatshop workers.

Upwork suspended me such a way that I cannt even open customer support page lol. The only crime that I made was that because of fever I stopped working for few months. They are good as far as you are earning for them when you stop earning they will kick you from their site.

Can I buy connects directly through bank account ?
Hi Sanket, this can vary based on your location, but all Upwork users will be able to purchase Connects with a credit card or prepaid card. If you have a balance on Upwork you can also use it to buy Connects. We hope this helps!
@@Upwork I have a Rupay Debit card .. From India .. I think upwork doesnt accept rupay cards... So is it possible to buy connects directly through Bank account .. Just like withdrawal money has an option for direct withdrawal to the bank ?

Is profile picture mandatory for Upwork? Can we use any other pictures like natural sceneries?
Hi, Yes a profile picture is mandatory. Without a profile photo that meets our guidelines, you will not be able to use Upwork as we need to know you are who you say you are. Plus, clients tell us a profile photo is critical to trusting that a freelancer is running a professional freelance business.

But I was just letting you know once you upload a profile picture, in order to submit a proposal for a job you are interested in, you have to verify your ID by Securely upload an image of your government ID to get verified instantly. You’ll only need to do this once, and verification happens in real time.
Also, you have to have a certain amount of Connects (which you have to pay a premium for) to even submit a proposal to a job.
A lot of hoops to jump through, for something that doesn’t even guarantee you an actual job.

The way upwork has being treating me this day is making feel bad.
I my count has being showing suspended and I had done the needful but upwork had done nothing about it. The customer support is very poor .the way the customer supports works is like one customer for one continent , is really frustrating. Get you education with associates degree or bachelors degree with so many job requirements then get your proposal to work for $5 an hour .🤣🤣🤣🤣.Do not get your degrees with experience since Upwork will hire with cheap low rate from overseas 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪🤪
