I lived under a pop-culture rock in those days listening to nothing but 80s metal. First time i heard this song it came on the radio in a bar i was having lunch at and EVERY GIRL IN THE ROOM started singing it and i had no idea what was going on. definitely strange that such a sharp memory is 10 years old

This song was already meant to sound like this. I almost never listen to pop, I'm a metal head/shoegaze fan, but this song always had something extra in it.

It took me a moment to go "Why do I know this sound/style?" Then it hit me. It very very heavily reminds me of Fuel, but I love this.
It has a Deftones - Be Quiet And Drive Far Away sound I think for notes anyways. Maybe the guitar sound (distortion) is more Fuel ya

You know what? It's not a bad song. I have a strong dislike for the original, but this rendition puts a spin on it that makes it kinda good lyrically speaking... it helps that the music feels so grungy and the vocals are so laid back. Niiiice.
