    I'e ridden in quite a few rainstorms with my Givi Trekkers (two 33 ltr. side cases and a 46 ltr. top case and no leaks so far!

    I've heard of quite a few people complaining of the trekkers letting in water. I have a pair of trekker 46l boxes and living in Scotland I've rode through heavier rain than most folks and mine have never leaked. Maybe I've just got lucky, I'm toying with the idea of upgrading to either the sw motech trax or givi outback cases.

    A couple of drops of water may not be all that bad.
    Even the Saddlebags like the Ogio Saddlebags that I just purchased which come with Waterproof covers aren’t 100% Waterproof since many users have complained of leaks, so they usually prefer to keep their items inside Ziplock bags..

      Sathish Rao I pack my things in a large plastic trash bag and then put it in the case. Works well. Hope you’re doing well too Sathish!

    I have the same cases as you. Usually "waterproof" means "splash resistant" (ipx4) rating. Not pressurized water streams. But couldn't find a rating on these cases online. Do you have a lot of water leaking in with normal rainfall?

    Thats too bad, my Maxia 55 topcase has never leaked even when jetwashed at close range, the problem here may be the dual opening feature that needs 2 sets of hinges and another aperture to seal, perhaps trying to overcomplicate what is essentially a motorcycle mounted waterproof suitcase?

    Almost went with these a few years ago when I chose luggage so glad I chose dolomiti instead. Same thing I decided then is the same feeling now, these are a neat concept w/too many moving parts for the real world keep it simple keep it stupid. My metal cases are beat to shit I've had to hammer them square again after hitting trees, dropping on trails etc but they've never once leaked.

      @@trippontwowheels Stuff stays dry and it's simple. It's a metal box doesn't even have the givi key disconnect thing like most monokey that fail on people. Installs w/cam turn fasteners, just simple and reliable.

      @@LawrenceBroussard Actually they snap on very secure and come off very easily so you can carry them into a hotel room or a tent. Very sturdy (and heavy). They open two different ways as well. A set of two comes with 4 keys and if you buy them in a pair, the keys will open both cases. Hope this helps. -Tripp

    If I heard you correctly, you’ve had water issues often enough to have wanted to test the validity of the waterproof claim. Would this have been a dealbreaker had you known they were only water-resistant before you bought them?

    • @trippontwowheels
      @trippontwowheels  Před 4 lety +2

      It could very well have prevented me from buying them at the time, but as the fix is so simple (trash bag liner), I'm not overly concerned after owning them a little over a year. I ordered them from a retailer in Italy so I'm unable to deal with the US distributor and would have to send them overseas to have any warranty work done. Too pricey.

    • @trippontwowheels
      @trippontwowheels  Před 4 lety +1

      The problem with getting Givi USA interested isn’t that I bought them from EM Lineamoto in Italy and I’d have to deal with them. They speak broken English at best and I’d have to pay shipping to send them back. I may show the US folks the video just for grins however! I am a travel broker and business is down so low it’s practically as if I have no business!

    Just shameful. These are way too pricey to leak as badly as they do. I got the distributor to send me replacement seals - they didn't help. A standup manufacturer would have thrown the molds away when the product tested bad, or redesigned the seals, or something. Shame on you, GIVI, for screwing loyal customers with this pair of sieves!! I hope SHAD and the other knockoffs eat your lunch.
