    Great video! So funny! I live in a 1924 bungalow, and we still have phone boxes and wires in our house. Since my husband and I are boomers, we knew what they were, but someday, someone is going to move in and wonder what they are.

    ironic, sarcasm, parody, - just a few words that too many people just do not understand much anymore. I personally enjoy your subtle jabs at life and the joys of renovations. You have yourself a very beautiful home and I'm certain you will bring it back to it 's original magnificence as best you can.

    Thank you, thank you for restoring, not renovating. I understand the difference and have commented on other channels about the difference. It drives me crazy when someone says they’re “restoring”, then tear down a wall. I understand that modern conveniences need to be considered, but it’s still heartbreaking to see big changes made.

    I am so very thrilled that I found your channel! So glad that there are still people who want to restore and preserve these grand beauties! Not everyone has the resources, know-how, or dedication for the "elbow grease" that goes into restoring. I have been so discouraged by so many shows and channels that have people who claim to bring back the beauty but they are just "flippers". They go cheap and tear down rather than taking the time to restore. God bless you both for being true historians.

    I stumbled across your channel a few days ago, and I love it! Love your sense of humor, and LOVE your old house! I’m an old house lover and am so glad you’re restoring, not renovating! I follow a number of renovation channels, including Caleb’s, who I just love! I so admire your courage to move across the country to an area you don’t know to take on this beautiful lady! I’ve looked at hundreds of Victorian beauties on the internet but just can’t imagine moving to someplace that has winters where the temperature goes to zero! Glad to hear that she’s not the drafty thing in the winter that some people describe. Please keep up the great work on your house and your channel! I look forward to more great videos!

    Great way to take the negative comments and twist it to a positive. I do have one question....... So you roll the wire up and put it across the road on the ground beside the pole, like the man on the phone told you to do, but did he say he'd send someone to pick it up? I wonder how long it would sit there.😮😊

    • @JamesABeckHouse
      @JamesABeckHouse  Před měsícem

      nope still just sits over there almost a year later.kinda of makes you wonder how much "dead" wire just hangs out there

  • @stew8584
    @stew8584 Před měsícem +2

    I would be inclined to leave that phone connection in place as it is part of the history of the house and it itself is now something of the past and it's in an out of the way place but in a way makes it quirky, by all means take it off retreat the wood but put it back on. You could also go as far as a small 1970's pedestal table with a dial up phone from that era, just a thought, Cheers.

    That doesn't look like a lightening strike damaged your tree. More likely, it was just high winds. Those maples break fairly easily. They also recover fairly fast. Cut off the damage and give it time.

      @JamesABeckHouse  Před měsícem

      @@JamesABeckHouse Delay reply. Phone issues. My neighbor has a silver maple about 80 plus feet high. It was struck by a bolt and it's dying. Huge limbs dropping off destroying fences. Doesn't care.
      I'll look at your video again, it appears underneath of leaves were silver in color. They are fast growers.
      At my place, previous owner planted four of them. Fortunately a bad ice storm came by and I had them all removed. Keep up the great job you are doing with your home. It has so much character. A true beauty.
