Honda X-ADV 750 Owner's 3 year review and MOT checks

  • Honda X-ADV 750 owner's 3 year review of a 2019 model. This was purchased new from Eccosse Motorcycles in Dundee, Scotland. Five thousand miles and three winters. In the UK a three year old bike must have a safety check, called an MOT (Ministry of Transport). It is worthwhile checking over the basics a few weeks before the test and fixing obvious problems. Here I do a final check prior to taking the bike to a testing centre.

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m keen to get one of these as a second bike. Had a NC750X before and loved the DCT gearbox. 👍🏻

      I did not mention I traded in a NC750X against the X-ADV. I had the X for five years and it is a very capable bike. I had no issues or complaints with the X. I considered a new X but choose the X-ADV as something different to try. I have no regrets I the choice.

      Can I ask if you get a lot of wind noise on yours. I think the wind hits my shoulders and sounds loud. More noise than on a naked bike.

    Lovely colour. Can't believe you took the chain guard off, I've hardly had to lube mine and it's always clean.
    Best bike I've owned, love it. I've got the 21, the headlight's like a car! I do like that green though. BTW I'm in Stirling. Perfect bike for our roads.

      I wanted a hugger to protect the rear shock. The hugger and scotoiler complement each other. Pretty much no chain maintenance now.

      I’m excited to get a bike that can fit so many scenarios.

    Thanks for the review. Which windscreen did you add to the bike ? Looks like it protects very well. Looking for a new screen as I am quite tall. Thanks

    • @StayAtHomeBiker
      @StayAtHomeBiker  Před rokem

      I have the Givi taller screen on the bike. I have realised it is the width that is the issue for me. The wind hitting my shoulders makes a lot of wind noise.

    Hi there, Would you change it for the newer 2021 version as I’m looking at a 2020 older version with full luggage and other extras for just under eight grand. Less a thousand miles too.

    • @StayAtHomeBiker
      @StayAtHomeBiker  Před rokem

      I would not change as I have no desire for the new TFT or rider modes, I really like the original instrument panel. I would however like to see if the leg spreading fatness if the bike was improved by much. I also like my green bike.

      My bike is a 2019 model. The SW Motech website has them listed as 2016 onwards and it looks like they will fit new models. Best check with them direct. I do recommend the set-up they make the bike so versatile for shopping, camping or just transporting stuff.

  • @allwheeldrivesn

    What about the wind protection when you ride (face, chest, arms, legs) considering you do not have the original windshield

    • @StayAtHomeBiker
      @StayAtHomeBiker  Před rokem +2

      The protection with standard and the givi screen is just great. I switched to the givi because of the wind noise which I think is loud. The givi did not help. I think it is caused by turbulence at the sides hitting my shoulders and arms because the screen is narrow.

      Belt drive would be a great addition to the X-ADV. It would really improve on the practicality and remove a maintenance task. I guess Honda are relying on the NC platform to keep costs down and sharing components with the very popular NC750X.

      With the set-up I have you could tour for ever. All day comfort. The motor is reliable, easy to service, common parts the the NC750 range mean spares available everywhere. I should not think the worst sand or mud would be much fun with the weight of the bike. A tumble could see a lot of the plastics broken.
