I cann't tell you how I like this clip... it's all about controlling body and mind. Exactly the same with musicians and singers. Training is the long way called to achieve the goal. It simply looks perfect to me, so great to watch this harmony and beauty of motion.
Hell, I'm 24 and I started 9 months ago: the beginning was hard (it still is) but I'm proud of myself when I look back on what I have accomplished already.
Meghan W my whole life I've wanted to learn Irish dance. my very first show I went to esa riverdance when ideas 8 years old. I am half Irish and have an affinity with Celtic music and Celtic shamanism. I grew up in a small environment that had no opportunity to learn..and then I grew up and life for ahead of me. I want to do badly try teaching myself at home...do you actually think at 30 i could start!?
I have the masterclass video and it is NTSC, plays fine in VHS, full color, 100 minutes, 16:9 widescreen, Dolby 2.0. according to the video cover. it is titled Jean Butler's Irish Dance Master class. it moves quickly but thoroughly. I have to pause and go back several times to get the moves down. you do get a me take and physical workout since it is so exacting (clean line and control of the legs).
Hi, Lovely ! It would be great if the dancers in this video had their trousers half black-half white (in a left-right manner); this way, movements would be easier to watch and comprehend. Anyway, thank you for being out there, Jean !
I'm sure you can get proficient enough to teach but your students won't be able to compete because you have to be certified by a board in Ireland. However, if you are willing enough to learn you could get it but it will be REALLY hard. My mom got her's when she was 34 which is pretty old so it isn't impossible! :D good luck!!
Well I've just ordered her masterclass dvd so, I will soon let you know known. My main concern is that the dvd is pal and not ntsc, as i can't play that right now.
I do Irish dancing I have been doing it since I was 6 years old and I am almost 14 now,I have only entered 3 contests though the first was for ages 7-11 I came first in that I came third in the regional contest for my area aged 9-12 and in my last contest I wasn't in the ranking as I fell off the stage and chipped my ankle whilst performing :(

black is the standard traditionally when not in traditional costume. Maybe they should just use a white background.
slow practice in front of a mirror really helps :)

Why does youtube turn old videos down to potato quality ;-(
Jean Butler needs to be Barefoot in Balance Taps and Rhythm, Click Works and Heel Works!

Irish hard shoes don't have taps on them right?
They have fiberglass tips and heels, which is different than the metal plates that tap shoes use.
@@TeaInVegas they do...most irish shoes have metal tips ..my cousin wrecked our floor with hers one summer
@@silverkitty2503 I've been Irish dancing for almost 30 years. Most hard shoes have fiberglass tips and heels. :)
does anyone have the names of these dancers? (other than jean, of course)
Now, this is not just dancing. You are actually using your feet as percussion instruments.

So, the precision of the rhythms really matters.
I WILL relax AND enjoy, as I always experience your dancing.
I know this seems slow to you, but it seems really fast to me. I mean, if I were to attempt that.
This is where "click your heels" originated.
is 18 to old to start irish dance?
nope! and neither is your 20s :)
