    Information about the ring grip:
    The Advanced Ring Grip for RS 2 allows you more flexibility when powering your gimbal, mounting accessories, controlling wireless follow focus motors and operating the gimbal body.
    The system allows you to power the RS 2 with either a Gold Mount Battery, V-Mount Battery, or the RS 2’s Battery Handle. The Advanced ring Grip allows you to mount the RS 2’s Battery Handle to the top of the ring which doubles as a power source and top handle. This can be used in combination with a Gold or V-Mount Battery Plate, which gives you more flexibility and longer battery life on set.
    The Right Side Control Handle allows you to control the movement of the Gimbal Head and offers camera control through the RS 2’s camera control ports. A single finger wheel allows you to control a DJI Focus Motor or our Tilta Nucleus M and Nano.
    The Left Side Focus Handle offers the same wireless follow focus capabilities, but with two finger wheels, allowing for simultaneous control of Focus, Iris, Zoom, and the Gimbal Head, all with only a single operator.
    The system allows for further stability when operating the RS 2 and the included kickstands allow you to set the gimbal down after long takes.
    The Advanced Ring Grip does not include a battery plate and the compatible battery plates are currently not available for purchase separately. The Ring Grip does include an adapter for the RS2’s Battery Handle that allows it to function as a Top Handle for the Ring and provide power to the gimbal.

    Hello, thanks for the mention in the video.
    It's possible to raise the MiniMax arm by unscrewing the four knobs in the back a couple of turns then pushing the arm upwards so it's flush with the bottom of the power pack.
    This way you'll gain about 10 centimeters in height which is good when you want shots a bit higher up.
    Have a nice day.

    Hey Peter, I asked the same question over on your RS3/Advanced Ring Grip video but trying to get info for a shoot happening today.
    I am trying to get my DJI focus motor to work on this exact setup. (RS3/Advanced Ring Grip) I have the toggle on joystick handle set to "df" (dji focus motor). When switched to "tf" my Tilta Nucleus Focus motor works perfectly and is controlled by other handle with focus thumb wheels, but when toggled to "df" I can't get my DJI focus motor engage or work. Any idea? Does the other handle with 2 spin wheels need to be completely off and only the joystick handle on to make it work?

    Hey Peter! Awesome vid. Just one note, sending your video signal through your monitor then to your Teradek may introduce just a little bit of delay from the monitor. You may want to reverse the order and go from camera into teradek then loop out into your monitor. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong haha.
    P.S. Love the rig! I just ordered pretty well the same setup for our 6k pro's. Looking at that shinobi 7 too.

    • @PeterBaerveldt
      @PeterBaerveldt  Před 3 lety +2

      Hey Tyler, connecting the monitor first could introduce some delay for sure. I do this because I don't have a focus puller (wireless monitor is just for my client). I pull focus myself so monitor first is for me the best option. I I have a focus puller to help out I would connect the teradek first of course.
      The bolt 500 / shinobi combination is very effective. I don't experience any delay when I do the Loop through. I do have some proper SDI cables so that might help as well. bolt 500 being zero delay is nice.

    • @PeterBaerveldt
      @PeterBaerveldt  Před 2 lety

      It's decent. My Freely movi was better. However if you get to know the rig it's a solid system (for me). I don't really use the controller for movement. I use the gimbal itself. I know you can set the speed of the controller so you can tweak it to were it works for you.

    Hey Peter I just get the Basic Ring, my question is if you figure it out about the power, for example when you connect the Ronin battery as HANDLE the power start running thru the FULL RING, there is no way to use the power just when you turn on the camera right??, so the battery is sharing the power even if there is no gimbal attached. I figure it out when I leave the ring setup for 2 days with full battery and sudden the battery was completely dead..

    • @PeterBaerveldt
      @PeterBaerveldt  Před 2 lety

      Yeah same here, It drains the battery (handle and V-mount) even when it's not on. I don't know why so I remove all batteries when not in use for now. Do you also notice that the Handle battery does drain more quickly than it did without the ring?

    If I want to use a 1st AC pulling focus with the handle grip on my DJI Focus motor, I am left with only one handle grip for myself.
    So what handle grip product do I need to buy to replace the one my focus puller is using?
    Are there options beside buying another $200 USD grip handle for the ring?

    • @PeterBaerveldt
      @PeterBaerveldt  Před 2 lety +1

      I guess not? So far no handle without control functions can be bought I think? I was actually considering just getting a basic ring as well and combine the two rings. So I have two rings with controls.
      Up to this point I didn't tho. Seems like a good Idea at the time but currently I'm more into shooting gimbal and handheld combo's so no need for two systems.
      But if I were in your situation I would do that. get a basic ring, have a spare on set and have two sets of handles I guess.

    Great video! Very useful. Have you tried swapping your handles to opposite sides? The one with the joystick on the right instead of the left? All of Tiltas images show it on the right and describe using it with the right hand. Not sure if that would make a difference. You would think they would be interchangeable. 🤷‍♂️

      I tried and it gave me no problems. I used a d-tap cable straight into the v-mount for the Komodo and the v-mount plate on the ring powered the rest with out problems. I did however use a 98wh v-mount the fxlion nano's are a bit to small for powering everything at ones for a considerable time.

    • @PeterBaerveldt
      @PeterBaerveldt  Před 3 lety +2

      Good question, I choose to use the BP’s for practical reasons. You can monitor the battery life and hot swap them. With a v-mount I can’t. For my Sigma Cine lenses I do use the D-tap out (did a video on that on the channel) otherwise I won’t have the clearance. Both ways of powering work very well tho. The beauty of the ring is that you have the option (even with a komodo) to use it many different ways.

    • @PeterBaerveldt
      @PeterBaerveldt  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for the compliment! Well, there is some up and down movement sometimes. If you lift the gimbal slightly so a part of the pressure is off the easy rig string and Practise your walking technique it helps a lot. In this instance my walk and a slight lift was enough. If i have shots where the movement is distracting I'll just use Resolve's stabiliser.
      I don't mind the movement too much. If I don't want that kind of movement what so ever I will pick the right tool for that purpose and use a system like a tilta float or Steady cam.

      On a set of two BP-955's I usually get around 2.5 to 3 hours of runtime. Bp-955 is rated for around 1.5 hours of runtime. Most of time this is a pretty accurate estimation. Less runtime can occur when it's cold outside or when recording an interview where it's consistently recording at 6k resolution.
