I think Flyers timing of naming Coots and TK captain 4 weeks before trade deadline is a sign Flyers see Laughton being moved so they have leadership group in place without Laughts. I think they view Ryan Poehling with his age, play e.g killing penalties, skating ability etc. and recent resigning to a very friendly contract can replace the roles and minutes Laughton played without much drop off. Walker I see being moved, they know they need more assets and in perfect spot to get what they want for him and Risto plays the right side too.

While I understand Frank's point that Torts maximizes a roster and now they can't pick top 3 to get superstars but it's also true that they are playing at an above average level and still have a potential star coming in Michkov + two 1sts, two 2nds this year on top of their other prospects.
Add in the fact FAs will wanna sign here and our roster is gonna be fucking amazing as we continue to build.
I'm not a flyers fan but another year or two and they're going to be nastyy

Seeler brings more to the team than Walker and Risto. Walker is found money from LA and Risto was a Fletcher mistake. Pretty simple

Couldn’t agree more . Seeler bleeds Philly and he needs to stay here . I’m seriously sick of hearing him in trade rumors . But Keith and Danny know what he’s brings to this team . He’s that presence that we need on this team . And dam Risto has been such a disappointment. When we first brought him to Philly I truly believed he was going to be that rugged Guy that teams feared . That violent attitude that would dish out Huge hits and drop the gloves for his teammates . Crickets 🦗.. or did I just expect to much ?

Seeler deserves a contract. The guy has been a top D for TWO years now.

I would like to think Torts is gonna bring a cup to Philly within 2-3 yrs but at the same time the area of focus I'm concerned about is goaltending. Say what you want about Ersson (who is a NHL material and playing very well) but I just don't see this guy being the goalie to bring a cup to Philly and likewise with Peterson. Idk, maybe trading a pick or young player away for a guy like Markstrom or Kuemper could be beneficial for just a couple years and to still have Ersson be a backup meanwhile we patiently await for Carson Bjarnason to play in Philly.
Maybe try checking out the goalie prospect pool the Flyers have. They literally have two of the best goaltending prospects in all of hockey
@@Frank065 I have and that’s where Bjarnason comes in. Was hoping Fedotov would’ve made an appearance in a Flyers jersey by now but Russia had different plans for him unfortunately.
The Flyers need a better European Scouting Department. The Flyers haven’t drafted a difference making European player since Peter Forsberg. There’s way too much talent over in Europe and we need to be up to our necks in that talent pool.

I’m pretty sure this guy is on Torts’ black list after the Hayes comments when Gauthier refused to sign with the Flyers. Torts won’t take any of his questions and he shouldn’t.

What an awful assessment of where the Flyers are now. They're doing well so we have to assume that "we're playing with ourselves?" How are incremental steps of success a failure because you assume we won't win the Cup? There are intangible results of this success. So you think teams below us also have a better shot? I disagree so much with this horrible assessment. Also how you think Torts is the wrong coach for where this team is now. He's the FACE of the franchise. Before Danny, before Keith Jones.
This type of attitude is why the Flyers will continue to be mediocre and a bubble team forever. Look at all the last winning cup teams and look at the flyers. Don’t get me wrong, the flyers have been playing great under Torts play style and love watching them play great. But not building up draft capital and trading away guys that can get picks or prospects is going to be like the last ten years over again.
@@brendangibbons6063 I agree. It does have to be done in the draft while being strategic with the cap. I see so many articles from the dozens of beat "writers" saying acquire Zegras and other hot players who are upcoming FAs or unhappy. At the cost of filling a roster and having zero cap flexibility. I don't want to see the Flyers sign guys because they're having one decent season and getting locked into more cap hell when the prospect talent pool is deep again. All that being said, I hate hearing that the current success with the current roster is a means to just walk away and accept defeat because it's pointless. Why? I can see the disctraction of the upcoming TDL and the conundrum of deciding to extend contracts or sell while stock is high. That's the business. They're not winning the Cup this season but why shit on success? I disagree with Seravalli's "throw in the towel" assessment in that regard.
