    I honestly can't say how much this particular recap means to me. When I played this I was on deployment and getting maybe 5 hours of sleep or so a night. I was able to follow the general plot but wasn't able to grasp any of the finer details, much less have the time to dig in and read all of the ingame lore. I remember that last scene fighting the credits was an absolute nightmare because I didn't have an internet connection to do get the help. Tried for hours over the course of several days without any luck. Finally knocked it out when we pulled into our next port, when I got the help of everyone else.
    Also
    I know it's hard, but... we're here for you.

    EDIT: There are a lot of passionate NieR/Yoko Taro fans here that seem to be missing the point of the video. This is a story recap of the events as presented in the Game. I am aware there are many lore drops beyond the scope of the game, such as books, interviews, plays, crossovers and concerts, but this is NOT a lore video. This video is only summarizing the plot of the Game itself. Like for MANY videogames, there are additional supplementary materials you can check out, but, again, not the purpose of this RECAP video.
    Big thanks to the Patrons who selected this, and shoutout to the CZcams Members joining the club! So, whether or not you have played NieR Gestalt or plan to play NieR RepliCant, I Highly recommend you play Automata ASAP as it's a surprisingly versatile game that hits the gameplay/story balance with a slam dunk. This was ALSO a pain to recap, as normally I slice off most of a game and leave just the most important/relevant/interesting/funny/cool parts of a game and what you is a concentrated version that is usually showing off its best parts. NOT here. There are so many relevant/interesting/funny/cool parts I HAD to cut out to fit this under an hour and so while this is a recap I am proud of, there is so much good stuff I left out and, again, recommend you check out yourself. As of right now, this is the longest RECAPitation on the channel at 57 and change minutes. Please enjoy and I'll see you on the next Battlefield.
    Next RECAPitation will be: Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria

    Just a little note in case you wasn't aware, yoko taro has stated that the Nier Automata collaboration alliance raid series in Final Fantasy XIV is canon to the world of Nier, so the pod in space ending (ending e?) is the canon ending

    • @tovi3280
      @tovi3280 Před 3 lety +34

      Good, because hasn’t Ending E been the canon ending in every game in the timeline? All 4 now

    • @pablomonsalve3911
      @pablomonsalve3911 Před 3 lety +20

      I think that ending is Chihoo[D]'s end, because in ending C, the pod that should go into space gets obliterated to high heaven and never leaves Earth.
      Ending E comes after either ending C and D. You have to play both to unlock it, regardless of the order in which you do it. It's just a happy ending
      But if the raids of FF XIV are canon to the NieR franchise, then it's likely that ending D was the canon one, followed by E, but I want to wait for official confirmation, because it might get retconned or changed or maybe explained in a novel or a stage play... the lore of this franchise is spread across so much stuff

    • @Anddroiden
      @Anddroiden Před 3 lety +3

      I am going to disagree, we have no clue which ending leads to the FFXIV crossover and i am even going to say that D into E sounds unlikely to me because 2B and 21O make appearances in the crossover. However we will most likely know for certain in 3 months time.

    Also an interesting thing to note. The first squadron member that dies with 2b doesn't actually "die". She planned to desert from the beginning by faking her death, which ultimately left her badly injured and not able to make repairs in time even though she did successfully get away.

    This is one of my absolute favorite games. The visuals, quests, and game play were great but the story boosted it to the top. I got attached to these characters so quickly, and I was really interested in finding out their backstories, like Jackass. The second time I played the game for Ending B, I got chills at the revelations we got on his side. Ending C and D were heartbreaking but so satisfying when you learned about the new purpose of the ark. Ending E made my cry for at least an hour. The buildup in the music and the encouraging words from the other players gave me such an adrenaline rush, and I was breathless by the time I bead the credits. When I saw the new forms of 9S, 2B, and A2 I swear it felt like a warm hug. I cried so hard out of both sadness and joy. I didn’t even hesitate to sacrifice my save data. I’m terrible at articulating my thoughts, but the themes, story, music, characters, and lessons will stay with me forever.
    TLDR: I love this game with all my heart

    "A future is not given to you. It is something you must take for yourself." This perfectly encapsulates the Ending E credits.
    The Gods (in this case, the devs) decided for all of 3 of them to die. But we the players don't want that so we fight them for it.
    We are fighting for the future where they will live.
    _Everything that lives is designed to end._
    _"We" are perpetually trapped ..._
    _... in a never-ending spiral of life and death._
    _Is this a curse?_
    _Or some kind of punishment?_
    _I often think about the god who blessed us with this cryptic puzzle ..._
    _... and wonder if "we'll" ever have the chance to kill him._

    • @kaptenhiu5623
      @kaptenhiu5623 Před 2 lety +8

      Yeah... it kinda is. The first clue is the "black box" which is actually a machine's core.
      But the true creator of Yorha is not clear. The earlier Yorha was created by other androids to fight the machines.
      But in the process, the machine hijacked YorHa and put a backdoor inside YorHa so it could be wiped out easily when the time comes.
      The newer YorHa is then created each time the older YorHa was destroyed.
      The Machines keep destruction of YorHa as a secret, so that the rest of the androids (The Resistence) on Earth don't know about this.
      in short, The Machines create their own enemies and let them evolve in order to further evolve their own kind.

    To think that all of this started because a dragon and its rider killed a goddess in modern day Japan, which unleashed a plague that gradually wiped out humanity. Then roughly a few millennium after that, aliens invaded earth for some reason.

    I finished the E ending immediately after getting c and d and willingly sacrificed my save for others before touching any of the then unlocked postgame options. At first I thought I was calling the games bluff. Even as I watched it delete my saves I thought it couldn’t be real.
    I will never forget how that made me think about it for a long time. I started up a new playthrougj briefly intending to get there again and actually go back and take advantage of the ability to replay any point in the game and find all the other endings. Didn’t get too far before I just needed to stop... for now. Almost about to go back and finish that second playthrough watching this.

    Drakengard may fade into obscurity at this point, but even so, will you be doing a recapitation on the Drakengard series as well? At least to tie in the lore of Draken/NieR?

    I think its so interesting how emotional i get about popo and devola sacrificing themselves and helping 9S get into the tower. Moments like this only land if you understand the charakter and most importanntly their motivation. D and P are motivated by shame and redemption, they want to atone for their very internalised sin. Its touching af

    Wow, I missed a lot of plot even though I read everything the game threw at me. Everybody has their moment that makes them cry, and although I also cried at the end credits scene, the story of Debola and Popola really touched me. How they only had one another in a world that hated them for no other reason than bearing the same face of another pair that fucked it up. Made me feel really sad for them.

    I tried my best with this game but I just couldn't get past the first ending. So many people find it so special that I came here to figure out why. What was I missing that made me not connect with it. I watched the whole thing.
    This video is amazingly done. I'm so glad that this game has touched so many people as deep as it has. But I'm glad I didn't go on to find the next endings though. I got bored just by following this video. My mind kept disconnecting by how little I was caring about it as events were being explained to me. I tried my best, but sadly, I'm not one of those people that got touched by the game. But I'm glad it exists. So many people feel so much for it it's clear it's a special one.

    the moment where devola and popola suppose to attack the enemys around the tower and u need to hack the door to the tower i had a bug. One of those girls keep attacking the door insteed of the enemy so i was no able to hack it myself because nobody hold the enemys off.
