I think Islam is underestimated because he’s quiet and reserved out of octagon (English is second language.) But he’s had over 300 fights since he started his career at an early age. And as he said, he fights for legacy and his country; not money. All of that combined with an insane work ethic and you get a CHAMPION.

1- defend belt few times.
2- didnt fought prime volk or prime charles ( as khabib didnt fight prime conor or prime poirier gaethje...)

People keep saying they are surprised at Islam's striking! He's had great striking his whole career. He is a Taekwondo black belt. People said they were surprise in the Charles Oliveira fight at how good Islam's striking is and at the punch that knock down Charles before the submission, but he's been demonstrating his striking skills in all his fights before that, these people just don't seem to see it. He TKO'd Gleison Tibau nicely. Now after this head kick can we stop saying how surprised we are at Islam's striking skills. He is simply the best fighter in the UFC at the moment!
I agree his striking is very good now, we can say its one of the most calculated and measured strikers right now, but when he and khabib come to UFC they couldnt strike, then Javier Mendez teach em how to strike throughout the career, Khabib never got to the level Islam did when it comes to striking but he improved too a lot since joining the UFC, both of them did, unfortunately that costed Makhachev 1 MMA defeat, early in his UFC career.
Anyone surprised at his striking hasn’t been listening to Javier Mendez. He’s been saying for years that Islam’s striking is as good as his grappling, which is actually obvious if you pay attention. Charles tried to lure him into the kind of wild melee he thrives on, but Islam was far too disciplined, sat back, and then easily took him apart with like 3 counters.
Volk was knocked out 🥶 in the very first round and all Volk fanboys were saying he is gonna win before the fight 😂😂 I bet they will change the tune with loads of excuses 😂😂

That is a bad excuse for his performance the first fight, he had the same time to rehydrate as anyone else.
Him and his team recodnized that Volk has been open to head kicks in the past, and they prepared that and Islam executed it perfectly, strategy won this fight

Finally, Islam getting the respect that he deserves. Islam said he will make this a decisive victory, that no one can make excuses over and he did just that. He made one of the toughest UFC fighters looks easy. But i know there are still some haters out there making excuses. Congrats to Islam. He beat Volk and silenced any debate between those 2. The only things I didn't like were the illegal hammer fists to the back of the head after the kick. But Volk was moving a lot so I get why Islam wasn't penalized.

But, why is this not the case for Kamaru Usman? How can you make this excuse legit for Volk, but not for Usman? They both accepted the fights in short notice, and Kamaru survived 3 rounds, and many say he won the fight against a beast like Khamzat, who has been training full camp for this. (Don't forget the fact that Usman also has damaged knees, so his loss should have been more justified than Volk's)
Another point where this excuse cannot be used, is the fact that Volk lost the fight in the 1st round, when he was still 100% charged with energy, no fatigue, no injury, and he got defeated in his own field (striking), so Islam showed that he has improved his standing skills way better than the 1st fight. And in my opinion, he also deserves the no 1 spot in P4P, Jones has fought just once after 3 years of absence and against somebody who was afraid to throw punches at him. Jones was the GOAT for 2010s, but now it's Islam's time.

Unpopular opinion but i think volk mightve let the mma comment sections get in his head a little toooo much. The world telling you you beat islam, his team probably telling him that as well, in his head i think he thought he already beat him once, now hes just gotta do it again and be more aggressive. But obviously that didn't work out for him. I could be wrong. But i would think constantly hearing everyone say "you were robbed" and "you beat him the first time" might've effected the way he percieved and approached this fight. And this isn't me giving excuses for volk i think islam won the first fight and think hes just a bit better than volk but just an observation
