Wow this is such a beautiful mech! I thought the phantom would be good for something like this, due to the large amounts of big pieces, letting the armor be huge! I think if you came back to this with another set, maybe just another phantom, to beef up the limbs this could be an even better mech! Great video and hope everyone has a happy holiday!

THIS IS MY FAVORITE MECH NOW!
So, I decided to dust off the construx catalog of Halo sets out there, and I have a few ideas in mind:
Forerunner mech - You may have to save this one for if we ever finally get a forerunner/flood war-based entry in the series, but it is a cool idea. So far I can find the 343 guilty spark set, and the phaeton gunship set, but that's kinda it...
Elephant Mech - Uses the UNSC Elephant Sandnest set, could be even more bulky than the tank mech set, could be interesting to make the feet just be treads...
Ghost Mech - Could be a cool deviation from the rules since there are not a lot of parts, but perhaps restrict it to an x-amount of ghost sets, your choice (Ghost of requiem seems to be the most recent set FYI)
Chopper Mech - Same deal as the ghost mech, but really could lead into some sort of melee-oriented mech
Pelican mech - IDK exactly how it would integrate well, but it is a big bird, and I want to see some wings!
Frostraven mech - same deal as the pelican mech, but winter themed
The Mammoth - Essentially the mech to end all mechs, this should ONLY be done to finish off the series, cause nothing will ever top it unless we get a larger (and incidentally more expensive) set
Additionally, I just learned there were exosuit sets, so perhaps this could be a good way for smaller vehicles to have their time to shine, like the Mongoose, Wasp (or one of its siblings), or Cyclops (which honestly would be kinda badass to make an upgrade for)
If you are fine with harming your collection's resale value, I also have a list of mech ideas for legacy sets:
Shortsword
Wolverine (just imagine the missile pods) (also there was an arctic model which looks really cool)
Locust (more for the exosuit kind of stuff)
Hawk
Seraph (though this one might be a bust unless we get a new version considering the lackluster design)
Vulture (again, go big or go home deal)
NMPD Pelican Air Base (came out in 2015), prob expensive to get but could make for a cool police themed MOC, so long as you buy a customizer pack to act as a supplement just for the riot shields...
Spirit Dropship (If you want a good purple covenant flying mech)
Countdown (set ID 97017) this is a nutty idea for a set, BUT it is the ONLY space ship set ever made for Halo, and the extra parts could make for a cool display stand
Additionally, there were brick built ODST mega figs back in '09, so maybe give them a try (also a brick built Arbiter Mega Fig in 2010)
Finally, to close this out, pray for a flood set with a lot of flood features cause I want a flood themed mech!

I’m particularly pleased with your suggestion about using the mech suits to replace the buildable Chief set to open up the door to some of the smaller sets. I’d really wanted to create some smaller mechs using the banished ghost, banshee and chopper but new there weren’t enough parts to warrant a full size Mech. Now you have planted the seed I will no doubt have a play around with the banished Mech suit to see what I can come up with, thank you.
I also agree with most of your suggestions, the Frostraven and the countdown set are particularly appealing to me. You’re suggestion of using the scaffolding from the countdown set to house the mech created from the sabre is excellent.

@@brickman1175 No problem. I hope my comment was not too big, but it spiralled like crazy when I decided to pull up the full back catalog, so many amazing sets!
As an addendum, I was considering including the floodgate set here, but there just isn't enough yellow bricks for some sort of construction themed mech, perhaps Mega did some sort of CAT themed set you could harvest from as part of a joke video...
1:17 You know, there seems to be enough parts there to make the scorpion mech shield even bigger...
I just had a thought. A fusion of the Chief figure set and a few Ghost sets to try and make a grunt.

can you make mechs based on the Elephant tank and the Mammoth apc, for extra carry weight capacity why not stack ball joints close to each other like a double knee joint like the lego star wars General Grievous as that set is massive but has some clever ways to manage its weight, or use lego shock absorbers and pistons on ball joints allowing them to move a bit and add detail
