  • When it comes to Mold remediation we are constantly getting questions about whether or not homeowners insurance will cover the cost of the mold removal process.
    The first step in answering this question is to take a look at your home insurance policy to see what kind of coverage you have.
    If you don't have mold coverage then that's the end of the story.
    However, water damage restoration efforts may be needed in the home and that may be covered.
    In this video I'm going to share with you the answer to one of the biggest questions we get, and that's Will insurance cover the mold remediation expense.
    I'm also going to share with you some tips on How to call in the claim in the event that you "think" you have mold ( I say "think" because legally it isn't mold until its been tested and verified by a lab)

    i am seeing your video after the fact that I put in a claim for water damage and mold in my kitchen. I am glad that I told them what the cause was a water leak. It was a dish washer drain hose that cracked at the top of the bend. It might have been going on for a long time and only now did we see a water leak. To protect my family, I started to take apart the cabinets and found black mold and deteriorating cabinet structures. Thank you for your advice.

    I've noticed what appears to be mold in my heated/insulated garage. We have had some recent heavy rains and I believe the insulation has gotten wet and now I have mold. I plan on calling the insurance co tom - any tips for dealing with this situation since its in my attached garage and not inside my home itself? BTW - fantastic video!!!!!!

      Hi Robin. Thank you for the kind words.
      I would recommend getting in contact with a Public Adjuster to help you with the claims process. Public Adjusters ( the good ones anyways) understand the claims process, what documentation is needed, and they fight on your behalf to make sure you get the most out of your claim for the repairs.

    Great video. What happens if you removed and threw away the rotten cabinets without pictures and then file a claim for water damage.
    Will the insurance company fix the the water damage wall and also compensate for the cabinets ?

      🤔Unlikely. Go for it anyways. Rule of future thumb...always take pictures. Any sign of damage of any kind, take photos. 👍🏾

    How about for renters? Does it cover cover or ins company usually goes back the landlord or owner?

    • @TheIHVPNetwork
      @TheIHVPNetwork Před 8 měsíci

      ..🤔check your renters insurance policy as well. Here in Cali, it's required to have insurance. Review your lease agreement, or have an attorney review for you. Tricky ...but as a renter the landlord is liable for repairs if brought to their attention. Keep all conversations about everything with your landlord or owner in writing.... Lips Flap, Legal Smacks! 👎🏾©️

      You're welcome & Sorry to hear that. Most insurance claims processes are like that, unfortunately. There are great Insurance companies out there, no question, but as a general rule, it seems as if the process for the homeowner is getting harder and harder.. This is why we have often said that Homeowners should, in the event of calling in a claim, consider hiring a help them through the process.

    I was told in Maryland there is no mold insurance coverage. How do
    I determine if this is true?

    Is t possible to get an insurance company to cover it if it was not water damage but because of an unusually wet rainy period in which the humidity was very high? I had two mold remediators out to do an assessment and neither saw water damage.

    • @ecotekpro7897
      @ecotekpro7897  Před 2 lety +3

      There are many variables with this type of situation. But to simplify, the insurance company generally is going to want to see a "cause of loss". In other words, yes you have a mold issue , but what caused the mold in the first place. So in a situation like yours, where there is no clear signs of water damage but the Relative Humidity in the Property was high because of the rainy period, the insurance company could always come back and say that it was a mechanical issue or lack of maintenance to the AC as the AC would have kept the RH% within reasonable levels.
      My Suggestion is when in doubt about whether or not you have coverage, Contact a Public Adjuster In your Area. A public adjuster will review your policy and understands policy language to determine if its a viable claim.
      As with most things related to Insurance and Claims, there are a ton or variables and one size does not fit all.
      Hope that helps. And thanks for the love and support of the channel

    Most of the time NO they don't. Under pre existing conditions excuses. I work in Water restoration working claims. It's rare that Mold is paid. Very rare. The best bet is having your service representative talk to insurance. They know what verbage to use. Or should.

    If you indicate water damage can the HI company state tgat it was fue to flood?

    • @ecotekpro7897
      @ecotekpro7897  Před 2 lety +1

      Tough question to answer, an insurance company can state whatever they want... whether or not its correct is a totally different story.. Actual Flood damage is a totally different game, typically its a separate policy altogether and the way that its treated in the claims process is also slightly different as far as whats covered and whats not. Again, hiring a good company that understands the process and what caused the damage is key here and perhaps consider brining on a Public Adjuster to help you would be a good idea as well
