I love that luffy ALWAYS knows what his crewmates truly want, but he makes them say it bc he knows admitting it to yourself is half the battle.

It's not even the "I want to live" part that gets me. It's the "Take me to the sea with you!". It's such a sincere line. It's not just that she want to stay alive, but that her ideal of life is being besides her friends. The time she spent with the Straw Hats up until that point was probably the happiest Robin've ever been. It felt a little bit like a kid asking for their parents to take them. Oda is really good at making raw emotion come up on his characters.
Yes yesss
For me it is both parts. I mean first she was wished dead almost her whole life, then she was an enemy of the straw hats. Yet here they are, facing the strongest entity in the world, fighting til exhaustion just to make her wish anybody else denied her come true
It mirrors how she wanted to sail out with her mother, to the point where she became an archeologist in hopes that she could join her.
Boy is he ever. I've been on the point of ugly crying at least twice in One Piece and I thought it was silly that I was so shook over an anime show. I spent time watching reactions to this scene today. Bro, it hits for everybody. Oda taps into some universal truths.
So true and now that I think if it Robin was begging her mother to take her with her so they could be together as a child, she said she became an archeologist for that purpose alone. Just realizing this adds an even deeper emotion and dimension to this scene.
I like how they made her crying voice realistic rather than the typical high pitched anime scream
Onions do the trick đ
*high pitched uwu*
I cried. Had to rewind 3 times, and cried every time. Not ashamed
I meanâŠher VA has a deeper voice that she is consistent with throughout the series. Sheâs also in her late 20s, so older than the rest of the crew (except for Frankie and Brook, yohohohoho!)
@@Kujakuseki01 This exactly. I donât understand what OP was trying to say, since here it doesnât make any sense lol.

Shamasan Reacts facts, I mean I was t crying for hrs but I shed some good tears lol
Too bad she takes such a backseat following this
TheJmlew11 meh backseat is an overstatement, her development as a character reached its peak here, especially considering she wasnât a battle based person. Sheâs more relevant in scenes when no big fights are taking place, like side missions, information gathering or stupid gags, especially considering sheâs not a battle freak like our 3 favorite monsters. But backseat is true to a sense but kind of an overstatement
And Alabasta didn't?...

I love how Luffy makes Robin say it. He KNOWS that's what she wants, but he wants to hear it from her mouth, he wants to see Robin's true feelings. He wants her to know its all okay now and she can express her true feelings, her true self.
he knew that with nami and sanji too and wanted from both a clear answer. luffy seems dumb but is genius when it comes to honesty and fighting.
Luffy's live action actor pointed out in an interview that Luffy is someone who listens, and it's true. Luffy might be goofy in some ways, but he has a high emotional intelligence and listens when something is important to someone.
Same with Sanji in Whole Cake Luffy wasn't doing anything until Sanji said the truth about what he really wants, not for anyone else but himself.

I've had a couple friends who've only seen one piece through reels comment about how this scene is so cool. But the weight of this scene really can't be captured through just this, or even knowing her full tragic backstory.
It's in the fact that up till this point, robin has always been the coolest, most in-control character. She never gets mad, annoyed, sad or anything. We've just seen her go live with a knowing smirk, like she knows she'll be alright no matter what, or maybe she just truly doesn't care what happens in the end. This moment is so powerful because that facade is finally broken through Luffy/the crew's love and kindness. That cool exterior falls and reveals a girl who's never fit in or belonged anywhere, and all she ever wanted was a family. When she gives into these emotions and recognizes the crew as her true family, people that will protect her no matter if it means declaring war on the world, she breaks down into tears and asks them to help her escape and finally live her life rather than run away.
One piece is the greatest shonen anime and there's no argument in my mind.

A scene cannot be directed better than this. The OST, the voice acting, the visuals - everything was on point.
the fact that this music in this scene is used first and last here, not anywhere else making it even more epic.
I think this scene might have just saved my life. In a literal, physical sense.
I realised my uni major has, for a while now, been a suicide attempt. I've been trying to work myself to death. And I wanted to do it, it felt right. Like that was how it was meant to be.
I had to ask myself whether I was going to live, or whether I was going to die, and I wasn't sure which side to point to.
And then I remembered this scene, and I knew what to say.
We're with you. Live and breathe đ
Keep going
We want you to live. So don't you dare give up.
I always akin this scene to friends trying to help their suicidal friend from saying they wanna die. I'm glad it helped u
This scenes also make me realize that I wanted to live. Iâm happy to know that it help you too.
My girlfriend and I just reached this scene a few days ago. Iâve been waiting for this for so long. I sat there struggling between fixing my eyes on this one of a kind scene and her face reacting to it. The strawhats and cp9 lining up, the flashbacks, the flag burning, the heart thumping drum line, a swelling of brass, luffyâs call to action, all carefully culminating years of masterful storytelling into a single bated breath. The second Robin screamed her wish I finally managed to tear my eyes away from the glue of the television, eagerly turning to face her. And as I looked into her eyes, through both of our streaming tears, I saw the same indescribable emotions I went through the day I first watched it. A feeling of wonder and exhilaration only Oda can unleash upon you. Itâs so gorgeously surreal to watch someone fall in love with the series that raised you. I knew it wasnât her just watching it to humor my interests anymore. Somewhere between the start of the show to now, she had been enraptured by the same web, in which, I wish everyone could be caught. And I could see it all in her smiling face. So much more lies on the horizon and I cannot wait to share the rest of it with her. But this scene will always hold a special spot in my heart from here on out.
If youâre a new fan or hesitant to start one piece I hope this sways you to start. To all the current fans reading this, onward to the final saga! In any case, thank you for reading. Much love! đ§Ąâ ïž
After watching the "Luffy help me" scene in the Live Action show, it gives me chills for a possibility to see this
This is for anyone who doesn't believe in our own happiness, our own personal fulfillment.
Doesn't matter who is around you. Just keep living. And believing. And battling. Every human being fits somewhere in this world, you probably just haven't found it yet.

This one made me cry big time. Rewatching the whole Anime right now with my girlfriend.. we just made it to water 7.. Iâm so excited to get her reaction to this
Enies lobby is my favorite one piece arc, it had everything.
The voice acting by Robin's VA is phenomenal here. She doesn't hold back. This must have SHREDDED her vocal chords, but as a result, it packs all the emotional punches it needs to.
I feel like I only ever get chills for something that TRULY truly obliterates me in the feels. For this scene, no matter how many hundreds of times Iâve seen it I get chills every time.
Legit one of the greatest voice acting performances of all time
Luffy smiles at the end because things just got easier. No more messy psychological stuff, now it is time to rescue your comrade or die trying, and that makes things so much simpler.
I love the fact that even with all the fuss of Water 7, even though they got beaten up by CP9, even though the Usopp case wasn't resolved and all, the whole crew got together and even the most fearful didn't show an iota of hesitation or uncertainty. Everyone is more than ready to die in order to save Robin, who they didn't even like that much when she came in
Hereâs to hoping they make it this emotional in the live action
the VA put a ton of emotion into those lines, you can feel the pain, the relief, the tears, all of it. A++++
"nothing happened" is like the soul of one piece and "i want to live" is the heart
The vocal was amazing. You can really hear the desperation in her voice. Insane.

im sorry you have to experience that. if you ever need help, call someone. keep going, i know youll make it.
Why is everyone saying Usopp wasnt there? Usopp was there. He mapped the layout of Enies Lobby for Sogeking
yeah usopp was there, i like that he was working undercover in CP9, but it's weird that he never uses his Giraffe powers after this arc
He even interfered personally to challenge Lucci, so Luffy would get more resolve. He is worthy of being Sogeking's friend.
This is one of the most profound scenes in the entire series. Honestly, this whole arc is damn-near perfect, and I have never cried more during an anime than when Robin shouts that she wants to live and wants to be taken to the sea with her new friends and when the whole group watches Going Merry burn and Luffy screams about how all of them didn't do a good enough job to save her. Honestly, the only thing that would have made the Going Merry scene that much better is if Zoro's eyes watered a little, being the first and only time that Zoro showed something aside of stoicism. Sanji not crying makes sense, but Zoro was with Luffy and Ussop when they first got the boat, meaning much more connection to it.
Despite that, it is one of the most emotional scenes in the entire series, so the fact that this scene and that scene are so close to each other made this arc one of the best, if not THE best.
One of the best, most emotional scenes in the whole series
I got so many different emotions from this scene, it's so satisfying the flag burning the "i want to live take me with you to the sea"
top notch voice acting and soundtrack it's so impactful when a character like robin gets so emotional and says such a genuine heartfelt thing
As someone who was bullied and abused by family I grew up with resentment and suicidal tendencies that haunt me to this very day. Iâm crying while writing this, I never felt so connected to a character before man. Nico Robinâs arc always cuts through me like a knife (I LOVE how they make her a sidelined B character immediately after this). My disdain for current One Piece aside, no scene or movie will ever move me like this one does. I hope to reach the level of love and peace Nico achieved here, man. I wonât die until I feel this happiness.
This is what I like the most about Luffy. He'll never hesitate to help someone, but only if they ask for help or admit that they need it.
This is where I got into One Piece and I've never look back. Thank you One Piece for being so godly throughout these years

Tan robin was great
PowerOfAnime POA, considering that Robin lost her Cowgirl Hat in the Enies Lobby in the Pre-Timeskip Era I donât really see an issue with Robinâs Post-Timeskip design because of the fact that sheâs never wore her Cowgirl Hat all the time throughout the series unlike how Luffy from the beginning of the East Blue Saga to current Wano Arc always wears his iconic Strawhat.
