    I love the Kenworth T680 here in the states. Only issues I've had with them is the same issues we have with all modern U.S trucks. SCR faults, DEF level sensor.
    Wish we had the K220 here. It's a nice looking truck. Ppl need to let go of old school or just quit trucking. Only gonna get more hugh tech

      The storage is up to the company ordering the truck, you can have multiple options with storage across the back and at the sides, with microwave tv, refrigerator, and cooler options. We return home just about every day and don't need the storage.

      Don't think they will keep the older K200, they are just finishing off old orders, maybe there will be a cabover legend in the future. Have not driven a bonnet truck in a long time so can not compare.

    • @No_Handle

      In Australia we use them on our b-doubles, because there is a overall vehicle length restriction. Cab over = more cargo

    Ballrace turntables are dangerous. Nearly lost a load of glass bottle when the turntable went 90 degrees off camber and the trailer was on the piss. Had to jack the trailer and rotate the turntable and then strap it to stop moving side to side all because the welding on the locking pin collars had no weld penetration. 2 new guards, 1 pair of jocks , and a lot of verbal diarrhoea to the cops.

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  Před 10 měsíci

      I have personally never had trouble with the pins unless I forgot to take the pins out with the block on, driver error. Unless the trailers are set up for the turntable seems no point really.

    • @tba3900
      @tba3900 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@australiantruckerrod1070 there used to a lot of trailer set up for ballrace . They used to weld in the blocks and then they bolted them in so they could be removed. As a subcontractor it was a pain in the arse removing the block and the so called locking pin always elongated or bent the 2 rings it had to sit in. Ballrace is plain bullshit. How many time do you reverse up to a trailer and pull the locking pin first and then have the turntable twist going under. If you left the pin in you spent ages with a hammer or turning the steering wheel to relieve the pressure on it.

    • @dennisjohnstone4739
      @dennisjohnstone4739 Před 10 měsíci

      Where I worked the truck had a ball race turn table because we were delivering to build sites and when manouvering to unload if the prime mover turned acutely in relation to the trailer,having the turntable pivot points always across the trailer prevented the trailer twisting to one side if it was heavier on that side. However if you're just running on highways I can't see the need for a ballrace turntable with the extra weight and potential complication when connecting to different trailers.

    Can’t say I’m a fan because of that new interior, completely ruined it and makes me quite sad 😢 give me a Z style dash like the last of the K120 series and the K100E. Simon Kerswell’s infamous aerocat has the best dash layout for a kw cab over.
    I hated seeing that digital tablet fitted in the last of the Peterbilt 389, that really broke my heart seeing a traditional Peterbilt fitted with that garbage. I like the style, functionality and ease of replacement that analog gauges offer.
    There may be more storage but I’m not a fan of adding more plastic trim, going to end up the same as an argosy in regards to rattling and falling apart.
    I’d much prefer the older models which have most of the cab trim covered by the diamond pleated vinyl and metal cupboards.
    I dislike smart wheels. On the k200 it was removable but not with this monstrosity. I prefer a 4 spoke wooden steering wheel
    Aerodynes have always had vista windows since 1977 and the new roof line looks to plain.
    Trailer brake control should not have been changed, worked perfectly fine before and the new one looks cheap and nasty and in an awkward position.

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  Před 10 měsíci

      What Paccar should have done is made a cabover legend, with K100/k200 styling, and put all the modern features in the DAF truck, developing a big cab with the 660HP coming next year or 710Hp motor. I don't think you are the only one they have put offside.

    • @benmurray8689
      @benmurray8689 Před 10 měsíci

      @@australiantruckerrod1070 I definitely agree with you on developing the DAF and keeping the more modern tech in a euro based truck. The K200 was a good truck but some minor updates like the new step design and grille etc would have been a positive. Other than the new roof the K220 looks good on the outside, just not on inside unfortunately.
      I’m pretty sure the upcoming DAF XG has the next generation cummins X15D which is 300kg lighter than the current X15. It will definitely be a game changer for DAF against Volvo but will the new engine platform be durable enough? Time will tell I suppose

    I’m not a big fan of the K220. They don’t look good and they are way to modern. I’m a huge fan of the K200 and backwards. Also I’m not a fan of the K220 dash. The old dash looks way better because the gauge is right there in front of you but with the K220s you have to push so many buttons

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  Před 10 měsíci

Always amazed me they charge nearly half a million and they can’t make a decent aircon I spent years in the Kimberly’s sweating my arse off in one . Built tough but rough and hot , must be just kenworth did 7 yrs road training east west in a anteater same thing totally useless aircon an absolute miserable hot sweatbox in summer, tried a hundred times to get it working properly but only relief on a 45deg day was pouring water over myself with window half down.

      But have to keep some of the features old school, classic Kennworth.

      (I would be thinking it's a Jake, more old school.)
      Manufacturers today I am guessing are targeting larger fleet operators, not the one truck old school nostalgic operator. They are going to make it with the cheapest components probably overseas to maximise profits, All these old-style Kenworths will eventually be replaced, maybe with the DAF. It's either move with the times with different equipment and new-age drivers or get out of the industry.

    Doesn’t matter what you say it’s STILL a KW CABOVER
    IT still a tin shed on wheels
    Unless they have fixed the inherent problems with them they are still garbage it’s just been dressed up a little
    They STILL have those useless sunvisors
    Where are the Diff locks ?
    At least they have changed the air vents back to the square ones instead of the round ones that’s the ONLY positive I can see
    You still need to climb up the jungle Jim to get into the bloody things
    This one has done less then5000km and it’s already got an electrical fault on the dash - a sign of things to come
    So basically they are the same pieces of crap they have always been
