  • A look at the Kenworth K200 cab over interior. Their are some variations to these. Some with single beds with different storage. It depends on how they are ordered when new. Will do the exterior soon.

    I'm guessing they still have length rules in certain parts of Oz. Otherwise I can't imagine why people would choose a cab-over unless they are constantly in/out of tight urban areas with hard to get at loading docks, and then you'd want a much smaller/shorter tractor(day cab) than this anyways.
    Still this thing is MUCH nicer than the old cabover trucks from the 80's/early 90's in the US. No huge doghouse taking all the room up. Still not as much room in the cab as some of the bigger conventional sleeper trucks here in the US though.

    • @australiantruckerrod1070
      @australiantruckerrod1070  Před 5 lety +5

      Hi Aaron. Yes the length restrictions is the problem. Companies want longer trailers not more room for the driver. Bigger beds in the kw than the European trucks, that most big companies are going for now.
      Have a great day.

    A K200 seems to be a lot taller than other trucks, eg Pete 389 or Kenworth 589. Is that the case? Do you sit taller than those for example? (Not just the height of the truck but does the driver sit higher than other drivers?). Thank you.

      Hi Ivan. normally over 12 hours before each run. Don't have to load or unload, just drop trailers 99% of the time. We call and get tyre fitter out if we get a puncture. But I have changed many tyres over the years without help.

      Yes. They run off a single cylinder diesel engine. As long as you have fuel, also keeps the batteries changed and can have it on stand by, auto start if the batteries run low on the truck.

      Hi James. They have come a long way from the older models, smoother ride and reduced noise. Don't think they will ever be like a European cabover. I have driven a peterbilt 379 a few years ago, that was a better ride than the K200 in my opinion, but it did have a great driver's seat.

      Freightliner have 2 Cascadia L/H drive in Australia, doing trials with companies. They will be fazing out the cabover.

      Kenworth should have kept a cabovers option, would have been good for regional, local work and the drivers that like the cabovers. In the future the Kenworth as we know it, will not be available, they will be going to the European DAF as their cabover.
