A bittersweet listen. I want to be the young hopeful guy who listened to this in '83, not the middle-aged guy of 2015. Tracey you shaped my musical taste early on and for that I'm eternally thankful x
I've loved this wee song since forever ago, even the out of tune guitar at the end doesn't seem to matter. Hard to pick a absolute favourite song, but I'll tell anyone who'll listen...this is mine.
I was 21 when this song came out, BUT I didn't hear it until earlier this year. I don't think I heard anyone talk about it in the Bay Area at the time. But, thanks to the power of CZcams, I found this song. Love it as much as any of you. Just took me a while to get there, but at least I did. Bittersweet lyrics, very mature for a writer so young.
I used to sneak my Sister's `Marine Girls' EP into my room and play this song endlessly! Beautiful song and Tracey's voice is so evocative. I love this, still!
I never believed that you could be too happy But I realize now that we can be When we can't cope with this love that we found Seems we'll say anything to knock it down That I realize I love you more And is that why we go through this for? Could that be any more perfect.....or any more true?
true story: I found someone selling this album on discogs from UK. I ordered, received and messaged him asking whose signature was on the back.. It was Tracy's.. he sent me the wrong copy :)
i never believed that you could be too happy but i realize now that we can be when we come cope with this love that we found things will say anything to knock it down than i realize i love you more and is that walk we go through this for
@MaurJacobLUV Why must we go through these little things? Each wondering what the other's silence means I wouldn't break it by turning to shout So soon forget what I was angry about I never believed that you could be too happy But I realize now that we can be When we can't cope with this love that we found Seems we'll say anything to knock it down That I realize I love you more And is that why we go through this for?

my heart was broken at 14 and i listened to our kids tracey thorn album he used to play to his girlfriend.I sobbed and eventually got over her.all through my life i come back to this album when i need a friend to sing to me about how im feeling.wish you were here
@Laminateddeffect Just what has happened now I don't know So happy five minutes ago Laughing and talking if things that we planned They are wrong when you drop my hand Sometimes I don't think and say things I don't mean Expect you to read all the spaces between Careless words I know sometimes you regret Cry cause I can't bare you to think I'm upset That I joke and say now I'll go home But you should know I'd never leave you here alone
@Laminateddeffect These are the lyrics that I heard so there are some mistakes, but ones that I know for sure after listening to again are that "Careless words I know you sometimes regret" is actually, "Careless words I know you so soon regret" and the line "And is that why we go through this for?" is 'what' instead of 'why' :)
Oh man. A Proustian rush of almost unbearable proportions. It's as if the last 35 years have melted. That I should again feel with the intensity and passion that I did at 19. It's just the bland flab of middle age now.
@Laminateddeffect did u find this lyrics? if not go to google and type the song's name and everything but the girl , good luck and send me when u cover it up.
This song still brings tears after 40 years. Beautiful
This song kills me and always has.
Loved her voice from day one and at 51 still love her voice 33 years later
Hi Tilly, lots more of us early Tracy Thorn, Marine Girls and Ben Watt fans out there i hope. The soundtrack of my teenage years along with Eden.
A bittersweet listen. I want to be the young hopeful guy who listened to this in '83, not the middle-aged guy of 2015. Tracey you shaped my musical taste early on and for that I'm eternally thankful x
Hahaha It remindes me on me and my first longer girlfriend and the pillows and prayers sampler

Just what has happened now I don't know
So happy five minutes ago
Laughing and talking if things that we planned

I've always thought the lyrics were 'Then a wrong word and you drop my hand' and 'Why must we go through these little scenes' (not 'things').

I love her, hidden talent ❤ in a way im glad because it'd be exposed with over rated things lol
