Few tips… keep rod low… and just walk back. Don’t want that weight coming at you and the fish will fight way harder

The technique you're using for salmon is basically the same thing we do for our walleye run in northwest Ohio, pretty cool to see the same thing being done for salmon! Pumped for the Alaska vids!

fished here like 4 years ago and slammed sockeyes for over a week, caught halibut and even offered to work on the charter lol but ya alaska is an amazing place, fishing the lakes is so different but so amazing at the same time.

I spent an entire summer cleaning salmon on the Alsek River after high school. So on saturday afternoons and sundays I walked to the East Alsek River and stayed in our fish buyers cabin.
I think I caught maybe ten salmon but caught dollies like crazy and bottom fish like sculpin if my lure went down to the bottom.
The fishetman laughed at me fishing with a pole because they used nets.
That was the last 16 hour a day job I had.
Right now the last run of salmon silvers is going on there.

Next time you do the salmon you should do my recipe you sprinkle 2 tablespoons of brown sugar over the filet then 3 tablespoons of puTter on top. If you want put lemon and a little salt then cook it the same way. Trust me it slaps harder than Mrs. Lehman

If my mood is down or blah.... I can always count on Minndak to lift my spirits. Not every CZcams channel has that gift. I love these guys! I know they work hard but I greatly appreciate them. I think they should collaborate with Samoung Outdoors! Not because he's Asian so I dont want to hear nothing about that, its because his vibe is similar and I think they would be magic together. Samoung has one of the most underrated channels on CZcams. He explains everything in depth and is awesome. His CCC are awesome too! He has great recipes.

Great job on all the reds!!! A little advise, on the lower kenai there isn't a hook sizer restriction like the upper kenai so when I fish the lower kenai where you guys went I use a size 2/0 or 3/0 owner octopus hook with a little bit of yarn. They stay on the hook alot better with the bigger hooks. Also check out ship creek in anchorage. The silvers are running really good.

I live in soldotna, limit is 6 now. Never use a coho fly, they are made for the Russian river and make to lose more fish. Use a normal hook with just a bead above it or a little yarn on ur hook, reds don’t particularly bite but we troll for them in skilak lake. Good bud. When you come back let’s meet up!

MinnDak you don’t use foil to cook your salmon!!! You just use a piece of brown paper bag like the grocery stores put your groceries in!! Just take your fillet and lay it on the paper bag and cut out around the fillet about a 1/4” or less from the fillet!! Then take the fillet off and coat the paper bag with a thin layer of butter or oil then season your fish they way you want and put back on the paper bag and throw on the grill or fire or anything that is hot!!! This is my favorite way to cook salmon or any fish over a camp fire!! Try it and do it in a video and I promise you that you won’t be pissed that you did!! Plus there is thousands and thousands of people out there that don’t even no this trick!! Every one would think oh the paper bag will just catch on fire!! Well it doesn’t as long as you have the fire not to hot but the fish traps out any air in between the fish and the paper bag witch won’t give it all the elements that is needed to burn the paper bag!! I learned this from an old timer about 10 13 years ago and I didn’t believe him at first but we both loved to fish and eat fish so one day when we were out crappies fishing I was getting hungry and was wanting to go!! As my old timer buddy starts messing around and is kinda fishing but seems to be getting stuff out of his truck I thought he was packing up but then I asked him what are you doing?? He said you are hungry you said didn’t you and we’ll I’m starting to get hungry my self so I thought I’d fix us up some crappies he said!!! I was like you have everything with you?? He was like all I need is a fire, paper bag, fish fillet, and maybe a little salt and pepper!! I was like what I’ve got to see this!! And that was how I found out!! He said he had learned from some Alaskans when he had went to Alaska years and years ago and he had used that method time after time when he would be out camping!! You don’t have to have the butter or oil if you don’t have any but it can help!! If you don’t have just lay the fillet on the paper bag for a bit on both sides of the paper bag before seasoning the fish!! Well sorry so long but to pass on something that I learned from a very good old friend that passed away about 5 years ago!! I do it in remembering him and passing on the noledge I guess!! Awesome video buddy!! Hopefully you will give it a try for a good old friend of mine!!!
