Some people really need benzos to sleep. Doctors should not superimpose their own benzo experience onto the needs of their patients. We are all wired differently.

I have been diagnosed with Parkinsonism, not Parkinson's, but because there is almost nothing written about my set of symptoms, I look to information written about Parkinson's to try to understand my situation. Because I live in the United States, McGill's website wouldn't let me access the book on Parkinson's. It is 6:34 PST, July 13, 2023.

We just found out that he had Parkinson’s and I see things that I knew were out of character. He has started to gaze, walking can trip him randomly, he is clenching one of his hands but yet it appears to be relaxed and appears unable to to control in a sense. He did not know he was doing some of these things but I had noticed. We are currently exploring many perspectives, opinions, treatment plans and really just what options we have and how are we going to prepare, follow and maintain a program that best suits his needs. Or what we could prepare for or even avoid in these beginning critical moments that could possibly stop this before it even begins or becomes him. Please continue to educate and share. Most of all please keep believing that we will find a solution and gain control and even end Parkinson’s. God Bless

Omg I clench my right hand (my right side is more affected by symptoms) and I wondered if it might be Parkinson’s with all of my other symptoms. Thank you for your knowledge, I can let my doctor know someone else has experienced this too

Do you know if Parkinson's can start up to 50 years early, and could one of its effects be alcoholism? I man I know has just stopped drinking after 50 years, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's two months ago. He was having depression and anxiety and sleep problems, constipation during the time he was put on anxiety medicines and depression meds when he stopped drinking. But I know most of the reason he drank was anxiety and depression due to his past history of drinking. Now I am wondering if he may have had this from an early age, and "self-treated" by drinking? For years this man had lots of trouble getting his wallet out and counting out the money and then the same putting the change away and putting the wallet back in his pocket, an extraordinary amount of time.

Two symptoms: Rem sleep behavior disorder, and constipation. Maybe three: night cramping of the leg and foot and toes. Does this mean Parkinson's?

Within the past 30 year medical practice I have never noticed an overweight patient having Parkinson's. I think that it would be well worth the research to see if this is true or not. Just a suggestion. Dr. Philip Robbins

I mean, if people can't sleep properly then body can't regenerate during the night, therefore degeneration is more dominant then regeneration. Sleep is extremely important.

From what I’ve read, REM sleep disorder has one of the highest chances of developing Parkinson’s. I have experienced rem sleep disorder once already and my grandmother had Parkinson’s.
