    Fish Tapeworm (Diphyllobothriasis) | Transmission, Signs & Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment, Prevention
    Fish Tapeworms are tapeworm species (ex. Diphyllobothrium latum) that infect humans through consumption of raw or undercooked fish, leading to the condition known as Diphyllobothriasis. Diphyllobothriasis (or infection with a tapeworm from fish) leads to a variety of signs and symptoms, including passage of proglottids in the stool, anal irritation and pruritus, abdominal discomfort and indigestion. The diagnosis of Diphyllobothriasis involves looking for ova and parasites in the stool and the treatment often involves certain anti-helminthic therapies.

    Can ivermectin be used to fight tapeworms. It is an excellent anti-parasitic, why would it not work with tapeworms?

I put it back in the gril and i saw a worm comes out of it and it died because of the heat. How can i make sure that i didn’t eat a worm alive or a diphyllobothrium latum or whatever it can be? I don’t feel anything

    Excellent presentation. I have been eating sushi for 50 years on and off, do saltwater fish like tuna and yellowtail carry these parasites?

    Hello! Thank you for this information! Could you tell me what two-point discrimination means?

    • @devavratatripathy3788
      @devavratatripathy3788 Před rokem

      It is the ability of the body to recognise that two points touching the skin are actually two distinct points not one. Consider poking yourself with 2 needles separated by some distance, your body perceives this as two distinct objects touching at 2 distinct points despite them being at close vicinity to each other. Now if you bring them closer then a point will come when the 2 needles will be so close to each other that the body wont be able to differentiate between them and will interpret them as a single object touching the skin at a point. This is called two point discrimination.
      Hope it helps

    I was curious which tapeworms are used in medical management of IBS and what tapeworm were people consuming to lose weight.

    • @miss_america8643
      @miss_america8643 Před 2 lety +1

      They using "pig whipworms" for treatment of IBS in studies currently. As far as the tapeworm that is most commonly used In the "Victorian tapeworm diet" it's "Taenia Saginata" (beef tapeworm). However, it is an EXTREMELY RISKY way to lose weight as most people don't know that they CAN leave the Intestinal track and travel up to the brain and lay eggs which usually results in Convulsions, seizures and death. In rare cases they can go to other parts of the body and there's no guarantee that the anti parasitic you receive is going to work. So I would highly recommend to never try this. There's a video about a mom who thought her daughter was fat and wanted to make the cheerleading team and her daughter ended up dying because the mom fed her tape worm eggs to make her lose weight. So so sad. I hope that answered your questions!!
      If you're looking to lose weight I would recommend the 7 day cabbage soup diet! It's yummy ( And also tiresome to only eat for the 7 day's but it works like a charm If you need a flat stomach by week's end for a pool party). Just make sure you follow the directions to a T. Drink lots of water. It's definitely a much safer alternative! And just Google "7 day cabbage soup diet".

      @@miss_america8643 that's amazing. I just wanted to read about the tapeworm in medical practice. I really couldn't stomach eating a tape worm. It's amazing the medical benefits of tapeworms but rather terrible to learn of the misuse such as in dieting.

      This was one of the reasons for forming the FDA. At or just before the turn of the 1900's there was a weight loss pill being sold. You would only need one pill. The capsule contained a single pig tapeworm proglotid and that was enough to give you a massive tape worm infestation. You could eat anything you wanted and you would not gain weight. The tapeworm would just love your care for it. Unfortunately, an unsuccessful parasite would end up killing its host. Not a good end for parasite or host. The successful parasite does not kill its host. Peaceful co-existence.
