    I remember that at the hairpin the great Seb Loeb, in what was probably his first season in WTCC, came and pulled his handbrake to turn. It was a really good scene

      @@lakshyamongia3270 when the track is uneven the car hits the gound. all cars normally have magnesium plates under them preventing floor damage, but in for example monacco, the track is too uneven for it to work perfactly.
      on a track like this, where the car lifts off the ground, floor damage would be unpreventable.

    At Macau GP, there is a mandatory no passing at the Melco Hairpin for all races. Not sure that any F1 drivers would bother listening to that warning though.

      @@chaycowdry7654 The Macau Guia Circuit never changed since the 1950s. So the "No Passing Rule" at the Melco Hairpin stays. Besides, there is no way that the width of that corner could be ever widen.

      you never see 3 car head to head into the corner in indy or nascar, it's the same thing, it just physically cant fit, no matter you listen or not

    In Monaco, F1 cars use a special steering rack that allows cars to turn through that iconic hairpin of Monaco. If the Macau circuit is added to the F1 Calendar, probably F1 cars will need a special steering rack

      While wheelbase has changed, the actual length of car is similar and the new car is heavier.

      @@Ponja__ Yes, of course! Every spinning top, no matter how wide, has the same very narrow wheelbase that lets it spin on a dime. Anything before the first set of the wheels and anything behind the last set doesn't matter for turning radius.
      I think the guy above was saying that the equally long cars will still be hard to fit into the gap between the walls, which is completely true, but as seen in the video the car fits just fine as long as you can turn fast enough, so the smaller wheelbase does seem to be useful

    Macau is way too narrow for F1 cars to race around there. Only if u get turn 20 wrong. There will be an almighty pile up

    In fact, Ralph Firman in 2003 drew his Jordan EJ13 at Macau Street Circuit - with the fastest time 1 minute 59 seconds, which is almost 7 seconds faster, than in modern F3 cas

    Prediction before watching: Yes.
    On visiting Macau, I happened to take a bus that followed part of the Guia circuit. One of its stops was just above the hairpin. I started taking pictures, assuming we would carry on straight past and I would have a nice photo of how tight it really was. But then the driver turned hard right and went through the hairpin and down the hill.

    You know we were all waiting for 1:21! Part of the problem is not just the steering lock but the sheer THICCness of modern F1 cars. I read somewhere that Williams never changed the steering rack in the early 90's for what was then called Leows Hairpin at Monaco, they expected the drivers to skid steer round.

    Passing is done on the much wider main front. Reservoir Bend before the finish, the start-finish complex leading to the fast Mandarin straight. Finally pulling it off at the famous Lisboa Corner. As for the twisty back end bits up the San Francisco Hill, you have to be really brave. There might be one or two place where you can do it. But you must be extremely precise.

    Go and watch the touring cars race of 92’. All 3 190E Mercedes ended up in walls while they tried to celebrate the new dealership in Macau, you can almost see tears coming out of the screen.

    Teoricamente possível, mas realidade é impossível, basta ver no mesmo circuito com outras corridas quer fórmula 3 quer automóveis sempre acontecer acidentes graves durante na corrida, várias vezes não conseguirem completar todas voltas na corrida, por isso nem pensar como fórmula 1 com velocidade tão elevada e que poderia evitar acidente e não interromper a corrida? É sonho!

    It seems that that turn has the same layout as one of the monaco gp turns. So it just do some changes on inclination and would work fine.

      @@nooffensebut4655 not so. The minimum length for an F1 has been 4500MM since the 1970s.
      The longest of F1 cars is just under 4800MM, and it doesn't fare well in races due to the additional weight of that extra foot in length. (It adds nearly 70 pounds of weight, which is why those longer F1s tend to not place well. That weight alone harms their efficiency.)

    Honestly, if they found a way to modify the track to remove the hairpin, i think it actually be better than monaco. It has way more overtaking opportunities in the 1st and 4th sectors, and it probably has the most unique scenery in any circuit.

    Turn 17 looks scary, its very bumpy.
    And F1 will never race here, F1 car is bigger and bigger now. Maybe 50' or 70' car can handle it

      But honestly, that would ruin the essence of Macau. It’s supposed to be tight as all hell, challenging and fast. Taking out the hairpin would cause mayhem in the community.

    As I am a native of macau and i drive through this hairpin almost every week, l know how hard to drive fast on that hairpin, I think that a F1 drive through the circuit alone for a demonstration but l remember that it needs a push on that hairpin. By the way, which simulation are you playing as l would like to try it myself.

    actually irl, the circuit didn't have the grade 1 certification from FIA(it's grade 2 certified for F3 if I remember) so they can't run F1 cars anyway

    This is more riskier than the Monaco. Look at the road width, too small that it's impossible to overtake cars.
