- I'm aware that CZcams disabled the audio content on the other version of this clip. Lame. So I redid the clip with no song at the end. So its silent for the montage part. But none of the characters have lines. Except for Reva & Josh at the end. He says "You were right." And she says "Always."
Television's longest drama's light is out. Catch the finale here, whenever you're feeling nostalgiac for the Guiding Light. - Zábava
Great show today!! Kim Zimmer & Robert Newman looked great. Will miss the whole cast. I'm glad that Reva & Josh ended up together. (Always). I grew up watching this soap opera with my late grandmother (RIP). I thank her for introducing me to this soap opera.
KIm Zimmer looks fantastic! I love her dress!
That was great! Thanks for posting!
Reva & Josh forever!
I have been watching guiding light for 23 yrs now and I am only 33. watching the final episode makes me so sad, because I remember sharing special time with my grandmother who started me watching it as a kid. it made me feel close to her, and now that it's gone off I makes me feel like I have lost a connection with my grandmother who died 3yrs ago, I have never watched an episode with out thinking of her. (YAY FOR REVA AND JOSH)
Jasmines Playhouse I feel the same way. My grandmother listened to it on radio right from the start. My mom grew up listening with her and they watched together when it moved to tv. I grew up watching with my mom and, when she died in '96(right before our favorite, Reva and Josh, got back together), watching was like still having her here. I felt the same exact way when it ended but am so grateful that people have posted these videos to watch. I feel like she's with me as I watch and I sometimes still talk to her as I do.
Thanks for posting this. Like so many others on this site I started watching GL in it's glory days, early 1980's, loved it up until early 1990s and then have kept my distance for awhile hoping it would get better. Although it seems that many people didn't like the final episode, I believe the ending was appropriate and satisfying to see Reva and Josh framed by the iconic lighthouse.
Reva and Josh were my favorite super couple who I definitely miss seeing every day.i cried the day of the final it was the last day I was seeing reva and Josh again 💔 Kim Zimmer and Robert Newman are my favorite and my family 4 ever and always ❤️
always forever JEVA always forever REVA JOSH KIM ZIMMER YOU ARE AN EXTRAORDINARY ACTRESS
That's just what I was wondering. Nice touch, if that's the case.
i love mallet is with dinah i'm so happy i loved them as a couple and josh and reva the way to end the show thanks for posting this going to miss guiding light
Absolutely worth every second watching this. I've been watching GL since 1978, back in the days of Holly and Roger. I remember the four Musketeers when it originally aired! Hard to believe this era is gone.
As a fan Otalia that was such an anticlimax, but as a fan of the show, that was really great.
I've been a fan since 1986 and I am so sad that GL is over! But I liked the fact the show wrapped up all the storylines and characters with happy endings.
dovasi I'm glad they left enough open for it to come back someday...hopefully!
The only issue that I still have with the way they ended the show was the fact that we never have had any closure of the Geoffrey/Edmund situation. Heck Reva went off with Josh and that would be fine for me if Geoffrey was in fact dead, but we know he wasn't.
Rick is marrying one of his BFFs Mindy Lewis (Billy's daughter). I love it! So tear worthy.I feel lame for not watching it every chance I got!
I HOPE THERE IS STILL HOPE AND SOME OTHER NETWORK PICKS GUIDING LIGHT UP... I have been watching Guiding Light since 1988 ( I was 12 ) and to think it's gone is so sad... shame on CBS...
just watching the first few seconds make me happy! yay!!! Shayne and Marina! ahhhhh!
So do you think that truck Josh is driving is from the year 1937? (The year GL first went on the air).
A show that was on for 72 years at least should have been sent off with a montage in the end credits. I was disappointed that they didn't even do that.
Yeah, he pretty much just vanished with no explanation.
Josh actually says "You ready?"
I am crying so hard I cannot comment now.
What's the song not included near the end?
Jeffery was one of my favorite characters... They never explained what happened to him. Also it just seemed a bit rushed. For a show that dragged minutes into day's I expected a more thought out ending. And for the love of God, who's wedding was Dina at?
what song was used, im just curious
Stop with the hate, everyone gets older and maybe heavier. But the stress they were under made it horrible.
This show might still be on if the writers hadn't started smoking crack in the mid -90's and run it into the ground. They completely destroyed what used to be a good show.
rockgoddess78 Yep. They got away from the characters and history and just went for the sensational tabloid stories. The reason Y&R is still going so strong is that they follow the golden formula: strong families with historically/character driven stories.
GL brought on too many new characters with no tie to any anchor family and failed to properly create new generations for those anchor families. It's sad that the show ended because, if they had continued with the stories they used to 'wrap it up', they could have been great again. Think of it: Bill and Lizzie together and having a child. That child could feel the pull of being both s Lewis and a Spaulding. With Alan gone, Phillip could slip right into his shoes except with the added dimension of the pull of his Spaulding upbringing vs the Marler values Ross tried to instill in him. Josh and Reva could have settled into the stable, older couple like a Bob&Kim (ATWT). They could have been great advisors to their kids/grandkids/ nieces/nephews. With Rick and Mindy together, they could have rebuilt the Bauer name and Frank and Blake could continue the Cooper name (p.s. I wish they had made the new baby a boy).
1993...the year Jill Farren Phelps killed Maureen Bauer.
why you shut the sound off at the end
Rhonda H I thought my earbuds stopped working😂
I'm 32 and watched this since the 6th grade. When I graduated high school I stopped watching it.(not on purpose) To see this as the last episode is sad. I mean sad because it could had been better. How was there no rolling credits? Wow. I want talk about camera crew and how it had gotten sloppy since I watched it last.
Nooooooooo!!!!!!!!!! It can't be over! Not that I've been watching it for the past few years but I grew up on this show. Question, who is that woman that Rick is marrying? She seems kind of ditsy.
beautifulgorgeous08 That is the original Mindy from the days of the four musketeers, Krista Tesreau. She and Rick were pretty hot and heavy before he got involved with Roxie. They've stayed pretty close over the years and, in my opinion, she was the great love of his life.
I would rather they had ended this with a montage of clips from the past as a remembrance....and closed with a picture of Charita Bauer (Bert). It was nice and happy but for TVs longest running soap opera, the last quarter of the program should have been clips from the past as a tribute to those actors who contributed their talents..past and present...to a series that, disgracefully, was ruined and killed by those who thought they knew best but did not.
justess martin The biggest problems they had were not utilizing the history and neglecting to create and give good stories to a new generation of the core families. They killed off or sent away almost all of the younger generation.
Also, the last ten years or so was more plot driven than character/history driven.
My biggest pet peeve though was their illogical and irresponsible use of the SORAS technique. The biggest and most egregious example of this was Daisy. WHY WHY WHY was she still a teenager when she was born BEFORE Shayne AND Marina??? She should have been aged with them as She and Marah were born the same year.
Greedy copyright people!! UGH.
It's really over. :(
i cnt believe its over the ending could have been better they rushed it too much thats just my opinion
These soaps have to stop using Warner-owned songs in their finales. Both GL and AW did, and since Warner won't allow any of its music on CZcams, these finales had their closing scenes muted.
OceanKingNY what was the song when it played 9 years ago? Did the actors talk?
Game shows are cheep, no actors. Just one guy who once had a claim to fame. But I agree. It is very much so "Wrong"!
Mallet not with Marina is the best thing about the ending
