Cosmic Cove my beloved :,) I actually work at a coral lab now so I can try and identify the wacky corals on the main planet! Will update after viewing.
Update: 90% of the coral I saw was Agaricia (classic ridged plate-shaped coral). The ones that weren't turned out to be sponges. But I think the tiny rod things, if not sponges, are likely Porites. Coral explainer out :)
Those rod/tube things are pretty insane (well all marine life is)
And thus, the ocean is alot more vibrant with you around.

There's something funny about Vinny trying to play the game with a controller it was never designed for and only making things harder for himself in the process. It's like when he played a 4K mod for Super Mario Sunshine that was noticeably buggier than the base game.
I remember his Sunshine playthrough. The music kept getting stuck on the first note which was hilarious. Though that might've been just an emulator bug.

5:26 I had and still get these deep-sea dreams where I'm swimming through the dark depths of the ocean, and I can't see anything other than that giant glowing jellyfish with the colorful glowing spots right next to me. And I'm tiny compared to this thing, the electricity flows through the water and the pulsing noise is super loud. I love the Cosmic Cove level but it really did leave an impression on me lmaoo
Around a year or two after I played galaxy I had a dream where I would be flying around using the red star, the one in the observatory. It was quite a trip. Though my dreams on the ocean are usually ones of me drowning, so that isn't fun.

Why is the black hole at 29:30 randomly at like 40% opacity? I've wondered this since I was a child playing this game.

That's just like my childhood question of why in Wind Waker there's one single Floormaster after you beat the Earth Temple that never attacks you or moves or anything. It's just a dormant enemy that sits there.
I work on Dolphin on graphics issues. It looks like SMG2 has some kind of custom depth-based fog effect in that level (not using the GameCube/Wii hardware fog), though it only activates when you move deeper into the level (past the first checkpoint, though also in the secret walljump star); this is the same effect they use in Slimy Spring Galaxy. This is done by tinting everything on screen using the values from the depth buffer. But black holes don't write to the depth buffer for some reason (probably related to transparency). So the fog effect uses the distance of whatever is behind the black hole, which is either rocks (nearby) or the skybox (very far away). You can see this at 22:43 (on the bottom left when the fog effect kicks in, followed by on the top right where you can see only *part* of the black hole being lighter).
Slimy Spring Galaxy doesn't have any black holes so this doesn't happen there, and I'm not aware of any other levels that use the fog. I'm also not sure why Honeybloom Galaxy has fog at all - maybe it's to help with depth perception/identifying what's in the distant background?

Man I already talked more about it first stream but this has seriously been such an unexpected joy I've actually been looking forward to it being streamed again. The vibes of this game are just that feel good and reminds me of a lot of better times. Shame he probably isn't getting any green stars.

When I played Galaxy 2 on my Ps5 controller I found it helpful to set it up so that I had to hold a button to enable the pointer, just a heads up

There's a classic controller mod that makes it control like a normal game, so all of the ball rolling and Fluzzard and whatever sorts of gimmicks are perfectly playable. You just need to map your controller's gyro to the right analogue stick to get a motion pointer.

odyssey is just jump, throw hat, dive and catch, throw hat and dive again x1000. that 1 sequence solves literally everything, and it's the same exact sequence everytime. it's a very manufactured movement scheme. still nothing compares to the speed, freedom, and fluidity of mario 64. the fact that it's 2024 and mario 64 is still the only 3d mario game where you can wallkick out of a longjump is insane.

i agree with the fact that you should use your blinkers, but consider this: lets say somebody is only able to think about a few things at once. would you rather them use their blinkers, or would you rather them focus on steering so they don't crash?
if you can't handle using blinkers and steering at the same time you shouldn't have a license.

I don't know how but Vinny always manages to find these really ugly 4K packs.
I know AI is generally seen as the devil but for remastering textures it's almost always better than these weird over sharpened fan made packs that clash with the original art style

I can share some light on why Galaxy 2 is not in 3D All-Stars.The devs had problems reprograming the Yoshi mechanics since it relies heavily on motion controls. It was impossible to replicate the mechanics on a controller inputs, so they left the game out just for that reason.

This doesn't make sense seeing as how you could still scoop up the star bits on screen with the sensor bar on the joycon. Just point and grab them. The Yoshi mechanics were the same. Also the pull Stars.
@@AgarthanExecutioner The problem is you have to press B after you highlight your target. Imagine using one of your right fingers to touch the screen while awkwardly trying press B with other fingers. You could use your left fingers to touch the screen, but you have to come to a standstill.
Yep. FFVII Ever Crisis BS is like Kingdom Hearts when you need 5 different systems over 3 generations to play all the games and get the story...kinda.

Tweaking with the video options on his super Wii really doing him wonders, because honestly everything in this game looks like it should.
