  • In this video resin expert Mylene Hillam demonstrates how to work with EnviroTex Lite Pour-On High Gloss Finish. She shows you the tools you'll need, project and resin preparation, measuring and the double cup mixing technique for perfect blending, pouring and degassing, finishing and project ideas. EnviroTex Lite® is the original 1-to-1 epoxy resin coating. It cures to a thick, glossy coating in about 8 hours at 70°F, and reaches full strength and toughness in about 48 hours. This durable, resilient material requires no polishing to produce a high gloss. One coat is all that is usually required for a deep attractive finish, however, two or more coats maybe applied one over the other by simply wiping the surface with a clean cloth and alcohol prior to re-coating.

    I recently purchased Envirotex Lite 32oz for a craft project - making coasters. I followed all the directions to a T, wore protective gloves, was in a well-ventilated area, and never allowed the resin or hardener to come in contact with my skin or clothes. Everything went fine when using it - or so I thought. The following morning I woke up with my face, neck, and chest bright red and ballooned up with red itchy hives and bumps. My eyes so swollen shut I could barely see. It’s been about 48 hours and my face is still just as bad. This was my very first time using resin epoxy, and I must have had an allergic reaction to the epoxy FUMES - which honestly were undetectable at the time of use (no strong odors). I didn’t even know there was the possibility of this type of allergy before this happened. No warnings about allergic reactions to fumes on the label or in any tutorial videos I watched. No one ever wears a respirator mask or has a fan blowing or is located outside while doing the demos with this resin. The product worked as it was intended, but now I can never use it again because of the severe allergy I had to the epoxy fumes. Just wanted to voice to other first time users that there are dangers with this product that aren’t even hinted at in the fine print or in the tutorials. Please take serious precautions (aka a Hazmat suit and OSHA respirator) if you have a history of skin rashes.

      We are sorry to hear of the trouble you have had with EnviroTex Lite. A reaction from exposure to the product would definitely be cause to visit with your personal physician or make a call to your local poison control. On each bottle included with the kit there is a phone number for poison control. Along with that information each component has warnings advising about possible issues that may arise using the product including eye and skin irritation and that the product can cause allergic reactions. We do recommend wearing eye protection and gloves as well as working in a well ventilated room. All of our products have our phone number and web address for any specific questions or concerns our users may have. Safety Data Sheets (SDS) can be found on our web site and go into detail about how to work with the product as well as precautions for those who may be extremely sensitive to epoxy resins. We hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us at 800-368-9323, M-F, 8:00-4:00, PST. Or please email mail@eti-usa.com. We are here to help.

    I put my bottles in a warm bath, and the product set way too quickly after mixing. It didn't even flow over the edge of my project like I hoped ,. I'm pretty sure it was user error, as I think i may have over heated it in the warm bath Does this sound like this was the issue?, I've used the product before and this seems to be the only change I made.

    Hi there, I have an antique redwood burl coffee table that long ago was treated with Envirotex. What is the best way to remove and re-treat the table or any other tips on how to restore it, as I’m told Envirotex is not like a regular stain but more like a plastic?

    • @ETIVideo
      @ETIVideo  Před 2 lety

      Hi! A soft outcome is usually the result of the epoxy not being mixed thoroughly enough or the climate being too cold where the project is curing. Feel free to reach out to our customer service to talk through it: 800-368-9323.

    I have recently been reading that you should wear a respirator mask even if the manufacturer says you don’t need it. Your company apparently doesn’t recommend one so I’m confused by this. I don’t know why I should wear one if you don’t say it’s necessary. So do I need one or not when using Pour-On?

    The front of the box states this product is waterproof, heat and alcohol resistant. I cannot seem to find the highest temperature it is able to endure without changing its smooth, glassy, cured and hardened finish? Like, does it start to melt or maybe bubble or blister when exposed to heat? Several heat related situations I'm concerned about; a) Putting my HOT coffee cup down on a coaster layered with this product. b) Having these coasters sitting on a table in a closed patio where the heat gets close to 120 degrees in the room (southern states) and c) Since I'm selling products coated with this, I often travel and deliver with them all in my car...which gets VERY hot in the Summer, and I'm afraid the finish will get messed up. Thank you for any information you are able to provide, especially relating to the highest temperature its heat resistant to. :D

    • @ETIVideo
      @ETIVideo  Před 6 lety +5

      Hi, at 130 degrees F the product can begin to discolor. At 180 F it will begin to soften. Hot tea or coffee poured directly from the kettle or pot into a cup that is at room temp and placed on a coaster coated with Envirotex Lite should not be an issue. If the cup is microwaved to heat the coffee or tea the temperature of the cup itself could be raised to a point that could cause an issue with the coating.

    I'm interested to see that your bottles both appear to be clear. I just bought this product from my local store and one of the bottles is really quite yellow. After mixing, my resin isn't clear, it's still quite yellow so adding it on top of white paint made the white paint look slightly yellow too. Is this normal?

    • @ETIVideo
      @ETIVideo  Před 6 lety

      Hi, Envirotex Lite is an epoxy coating and the hardener component can shift in color over time. All clear finishes including epoxy coatings will shift in color to some degree over time when dry or cured. Generally, this discoloration goes undetected on most colored surfaces. However, with age a slight yellow contrast may become visible on light or white surfaces.

    • @Layput
      @Layput Před rokem

      All epoxy will yellow over time. That means you have an old batch.

    How would you apply this to a spherical object? I have a coconut I'm carving into a drinking vessel and I need to seal it's natural pores and I want to use something that will have a gloss finish. My question is since it's spherical how would you apply the Envirotex coating to minimize pooling? I'm thinking of using a vertical post to hold up the coconut through the cork hole but I'm not sure if that would work.

    My resin tube has some crystalization and may have gotten cold. Can this be fixed?

    • @ETIVideo
      @ETIVideo  Před 3 lety

      Yes, place the closed container of resin into a warm bucket of tap water (not exceeding 80*) for around 20 minutes to dissolve crystals. Make sure to wipe off any excess water remaining on the outside of the bottle before use to prevent water contamination, If warmed resin is used right away you will lose about 10 minutes of your working time, to prevent this let the resin cool to room temperature before using.
