Love all the 3800 swaps you've made to fieros. This has made my evening. I'm vicariously living through you. I have a 98 L36 Buick Regal LS. It has 270+ miles, it's not perfect inside, or out but it's a 85% car as that goes. Just one window that I manually move up and down on driver's side. And passenger side taillight out. As well as clear coat wasting in the top of the car. But the engine and transmission. Well, it's an L36 that I service religiously. Thanks for these videos. I love them.
Thank you for the kind words sir!
That gauge cluster looks great! 👍
Thank you!
Guage cluster was a terrible move man. That fiero cluster is awesome!
I agree, the fiero cluster is pretty awesome. I've had fiero's for 30 years though ... so I just got tired of looking at them and needed to change things up, kind of like ditching the stock wing.
@Toys4Life C5 yeah I guess that makes sense, I haven’t owned one for that long so I can’t say that haha
Nice
Thanks
Can’t believe you have not figured it out, I have not been to the track in 7-8 years, last time I was was there you and the boys came out.
KA?
Toys4Life C5 does it all make sense now?
@MN Hobby Farmer. Indeed. I am going back out to Rock falls yet this summer, what are you bringing?
Toys4Life C5 hopefully the 4th GEN, currently installing a close ratio magnum f and upgraded fuel system, one too many hard shifts into 3rd on the T56.
I have an 87 and PO did a 3800 swap. The cluster Panel I have is from an 86 cavalierz24. I’m looking to see how difficult it is to convert to a digital aftermarket unit. Yours looks real good.
Thank you, I do like the fact that it's probably the only one around, good luck with yours!
Great mods, thanks for sharing! Can you tell me what kind of brake mods you have? I have an 86, 2M6, and want to upgrade, but hear so many mixed things. I want to keep my ebrake in the back....
Best brake mod by far IMO - Chevy S-10 Brake Booster Mod. My brakes are all stock rotors and I am using stock Fiero calipers and rotors. They do just fine bringing me down from 114MPH in the 1/4 mile. I would not use them for track road racing - a few stops from 60 in a row and they get too hot. Perhaps the grand am upgrade would help for that. Otherwise West Coast Fieros sells brake kits that will do anything you want but do cost $$$ Thanks for the comment!
great video! do you do any of the swaps for others?
thank you for the comment! I do not. Maybe when I retire I will offer services???
Nicely done. Dig that spoiler and the dash mods. Have you ever considered building an LS4 swapped Fiero?
thank you! I would, the big problem is getting a good automatic transmission that can handle 600 hp in the rear of that thing.
@Toys4Life C5 I guess I just assumed you could use the transaxle deal from an LS4 Monte Carlo. Definitely unfamiliar with these setups though.
did you keep the buick engine fuse box for the cluster? if so did you run all the ignition wires and other things like o2 sensor, evap, maf, dlc?
czcams.com/video/4LAqaE_GdIs/video.html Talks about exactly what you are asking I believe. Thanks for the interest !!
Car looks great! Only thing I would do is change that ride height and get ride of that gap from wheel well to tire.
Agreed, the problem is it's already been lowered about an inch to an inch and a half, these things just sat up so high, perhaps for ground clearance because they knew people would drive them in the winter, I'm not sure.
@Toys4Life C5 do they make a set of coil overs for that car? Prob not, I love your car anyway!
i am in the middle of a 3800 4t65e swap on my 86 sc fiero, i have a 2004 drivetrain from a buick lesabre, and i also have the all of the wiring harnesses and the dash cluster similar to your regal cluster. i am having a hard time finding wiring diagrams or any write ups involving a cluster swap and i would really love to hear some input from you, since you seem like a full on diy guy and your build has a lot of aspects i would like in mine eventually. im mostly confused on what wires to keep and get rid of from the buick dash harness (with the obd2 plug, cluster hookups, door chime etc) and the exterior to interior harness from the fuse box to the dash harness, and what to switch around when wiring up the 3800 ecm to the stock fiero wiring, i know fuel level, speedo, odo, tach, coolant, serial data, but not exactly sure on everything, mostly since its my first engine swap with something thats not stock haha. it has a custom rear end tube frame and the suspension is in so its a roller currently, and after the swap is done and tidy i plan on turbocharging it and possibly e85 and getting a front custom fuel cell
GM tuners.com has a ton of wiring diagrams and info for these swaps. That's where I started and it was extremely helpful.
I would love to see your custom tube frame rear end! I've actually been thinking about doing that myself as a winter project.
@Toys4Life C5 i think you're one of the only fiero 3800 guys ive seen with a completed swap with the buick cluster thats done very clean there really isnt much info about this mod lol
You really need to do a early beetle with a blow through set-up on it , pay homage to your roots.🤔👍
You win. You have been stalking my for months and clearly know me well. Who is this????????????????????????
I agree about the VW b/t/w. With an LS though like this one. czcams.com/video/70OSJLzISL0/video.html
Toys4Life C5 pretty athletic piece 🤔👍
I guess I'm just a purest. I like my all orginal 1986.5 GT with a rare factory 5-speed manual transmission just like it is.
Nothing wrong with that sir, nothing wrong with that!!
The only thing wrong with this Fiero is that automatic transmission
For road racing I would agree with you. For just street use and drag racing, I would disagree with you. Solution is to just get one of each, deal?
@Toys4Life C5 It's always been my contention that any performance car, or car with performance aspirations, should have a manual transmission. As a driver, I like to be more involved in the driving experience. An automatic does not offer the same involvement. Besides that, I've never had much luck with automatics. Every time I'm driving at speed and throw the shifter into R for Race, the transmission blows up.
R for race. That's what I'm doing wrong!
Which trans
4t65e HD
@Toys4Life C5 I see a lot of transmissions . to many to rember all of them . which one
@Toys4Life C5 oh wow . That's a heavy duty trans for that small of a car
@Toys4Life C5 4 speed overdrive right ? Out of rides with that much weight to a car that weighs less than 3000 lbs that thing must damn near have wings. That thing had to come out of at least 3600 lbs minimum. Those gears got plenty torque
@Mathew Ostovich Here is some drag strip carnage...lol czcams.com/video/NacB47T21OA/video.html
Get a Porsche 914 w9nt catch on fire
But dude, it's a Porsche...
Nice
Thanks
