Good morning Guys. I know its an older video, but this the first time I've seen it. I'm building a "low cost" Cavalier currently. Trust me, building a car from scratch is not "low cost" LOL I bought a 2004 Cav for $600 that had only 52,000 miles on it. I gutted it and purchased, in my opinion, the best kit cage on the market. It's a Dickinson cage kit for $495.00...next was changing fluids(tranny filter/fluid and oil changed), that was another $200. Then it was new struts all the way around for $280. Aluminum rims (used) another $100. Containment seat used was $500. Then there's the misc things like new plugs, fire extinguisher and quick release holder, new belts, kill switch, electrical switches and wire, aluminum sheet to cover holes, steering wheel with a quick release hub, paint and so on. That's an additional Add another $500 or so there. I still need to get new tires...Another $350...whew..LOL I already have a trailer from last years racing though. All total....that's about $3025 so far. Of course then there's fuel for the car and truck and entrance fees. Racing is not cheap, no matter what level you are on. None of the things count towards time either. Time is also money. Time is what one of my sponsors gives me. What I mean is, a machine shop sponsors me and they do all my machining and give me materials for free. I just wanted to add what I (and my sponsors) have spent so far this winter. Thank you for ALL of the great stuff you guys help us small guys out with!! Have a great 2023 racing season!

Bought a 1997 dodge neon in 2014 for $400. Put around $5-600 in it to daily drive it. Then gutted it but didn't part anything out. Spent $500 on a cage and safety equipment, won a couple races, then have been racing it a few times a year since 2016. Overall it has 28 races and I've spent around $3,000 to keep it going for the last 7 years. Thats not including sponsorship monies, race winnings, and donations. Definantly time for an upgrade but the car has been a great father/son hobby.

All ya need to win in this class is the most money. Full blown racing engine with vvt, vtec, you’ll half track the rest. Make all the cars equal. Then see how many of these boys with those racing engines hold up. No vvt, no vtec, no racing engines. Also, all tracks need to USE THEIR SCALES. I’ve seen several people run 250+ hp cars, with a weight rule of 2200 lbs, running 300-400 lbs light and track never weighed them. The cheating will kill this class.
