We have just said goodbye to our old uncle who left this planet last week very low. He was RAF saw a lot of action. I am here to lift my spirits with a 'brother' serviceman who goes to extremes to get us into places no one has seen since WW2. Come and sit a while and enjoy his hard work with his son Eagle Eyes and sometimes Bunker Buster Girl - it LIFTS my heart! Thank you. 4:53 I have researched these small squares and some sites say that these were 'tracer' rounds. The ordinary powdered cordite and the square things mixed. I dont know if this is true? Some tracer rounds had an EXTERNAL coating which glowed as the bullet spun out of the barrel. 8:48 THAT is an AMAZING FIND!

Couldn’t imagine the fear some of these soldiers must have had ,must of being frightening. The thing I find the worse is all the shrapnel pieces that would of been flying around,the damage that could of caused . Great finds again my friend

Every time when you find something with your pinpointer ,the sound gives me an adrenaline kick to go hunting for ww2 stuff to find beercaps and hoping that il find a cartridge or something of ww2

So tragic, beyond heartbreaking 💔. Couldn't begin to imagine what went through the soldiers' minds with all the explosions and gunfire. Feelings of helplessness. You came upon some interesting artifacts there HH & EE. The schematics for the switchboard was especially of interest. They sure cleaned up nicely. A very sad time in history. I bet there is a lot more there to be discovered. Thank you for taking us there EE & HH.

The ammunition wasn't damaged recently, it has been sitting around in that state for a long time.

That plate from the back of the switch board, the damage to the plate would tell me that the switch board was hit by shrapnel possibly creating the dent hole in the plate. If the plate was on the back it would indicate either shrapnel leaving or entering the switch board...maybe? Also to add with evidence of a fire, the switch board would have burned up long ago, but the plate being coated metal lives to tell a story. Amazing finds!!!
yes it could ahve been hit by something indeed. The plate is in great condition i think after that long time outside. Thanks my friend.

Rewatching this video and still get a kick out of it that the cartridge that is found at the 6:48 mark is now sitting on my book case here in the United States, what he says is true history is everywhere.

You know I love all your videos, they all tell a story. However, now and again not only does a location give you something to learn about, time frame, battle history etc but in this case, seeing the amount of shells, and in the state they were in tells that story even more.... this location really brings home those last few desperate weeks leading to the fall of Berlin. The Russians throwing all they had at the retreating Nazi Army..... I feel for sure they hit an ammo cache looking at those casing all bent and torn open, and seeing the brass shells all blasted open among the other bits tells a story that is tragic, desperate and dark.... but is also fascinating at the same time. Whoever gets these items next Month will really have a piece of the final bit of the wars history to hang on the wall or put on a shelf to display. It seems crazy to think of the peace and quiet in that forest now, but around April 1945 that place would of been a scene of total mayhem and carnage. That 12 minute film really brought that home. You don’t need no stinking metal detector with Eagle Eyes. That young man can just walk around and find history on top of the ground. I still wonder if the cartridges were run over by a tank? Very nice find on the schematic. I always love when you put a picture with it to give a better perspective of what it’s for. You must spend many hours researching these finds. Am sure there is more to come from this location.

You are definitely right. At the end of the war, they probably piled up all ammo they found in the field and destroyed it by controlled explosion.
This explains why these bent cartridges are all over the place
Another excellent video! Hard to tell exactly how everything got mangled. Right after the war, a lot of rubble was bulldozed to level ground, fill in craters, plowed by farmers, forestry planning and simply moved a bit to make way for nearby rebuilding projects.
Any of the ways though, their story of how they came to be mangled is still part of WWII history and still interesting!
A most interesting story to me would be if they were somehow mangled by all that I mentioned instead of just 1 thing.

Just curious... Is there any evidence left in the physical terrain to help you determine the types of fighting that took place in what areas there? Just grenades and/or tanks or is there larger crater evidence to suggest any large artillery or air support? Perhaps a fire of opportunity at some ammo bunker with an explosion?
Would all be very interesting to hear if there's enough intact in the ground to sort it out to point to each element in the historical record in that kind of detail to watch in a future video some day hopefully. Great work!

Wow those 7.92 cases are mangled. I bet it was a ammunition dump that was destroyed. Sorry I haven't put anything out. I hurt my back again and can't go down the stairs to get to my firearms room. I bought some 7.62x25 Tokarev ammunition from 1952,53 and from WW2. Im just going to save it. I really hope to get through this soon. I don't want to keep posting stuff on my health. My Tokarev is ready to go to the range along with my Enfield. I want to finish up the videos but I can't walk 400 yards to change targets yet. It's only 1200 feet but with my back blown out it might as well be 1000 miles. I was hoping to get a K-98 this month but I will have to wait a few months. Hope all is well with you and your family. well now. I just heard the very same sound issue I have been dealing with for a few months now. I have a feeling mine is the 3.5mm female jack on my Note8 smartphone...im still tracking the issue down myself but it is either the mic wire or the female connector on the phone/camera.
mine was my own finger resting on the Jack so just my own fuat i Guess. i have taped the cable and no finger there now so all is ok. Thanks for taking time to comment and watch

I half want to say the spot looks like 1 that was dug up about 4 years ago and they found ammo, 20mm canon, mines and gernaids all live and set it on fire.

Anything sticking in the trees? Maybe the trees are a second growth. That forest saw a lot of action back in 1945. Be careful of unexploded ordinance as you dig. The war is not over for you residents. Looks like a hot area.

That ammunition is indicative of exposure to fire and explosion. It could have been a purposefully destroyed cache of German equipment once captured. The US Army in OIF would collect captured weapons and munitions and EOD would come around and destroy large piles of them.
i couldnt tell but there are both German and Soviet munition so kind of strange. Thanks

What a fantastic find on the schematics and it is in wonder shape for it age and being in the ground. Another mystery as to what happened to the shells. The way they are twisted and mashed I would think maybe a tank ran them over. I wonder what the Germans thought after being on the offensive and now retreating on the defensive side of the war? Love hearing Eagle Eyes voice. It puts a smile on my face. Now on to the next video.

It makes me think about the men and women who fought and died their. It must have been a horrific sight to see. I like WW2 history. My father was a WW2 veteran who served in Italy. Never talked about it much. He passed away almost 30 years ago.
But it's sad that it brought so much heartache to so many families on all sides . Stay safe.

My family was effected by the Germans. living in Russia during ww2 and my great uncle died in 1943 as a soviet soldier. But now we are in peace. Germany and Russia peace. And I have heard during ww2 Soviet soldiers would smash up German ammunition so the enemy doesn’t use it again. Respect from Russia.

This looks like you found a cache of ammo that was probably intentionally destroyed, hence the extreme damage of the ammo.

@@rick1827 if this was a storage and command post (switch board) then damage could have happened during the "fire", if that is indeed what happened...but it leads me to believe in this direction.
From the damaged ammunition they found it would suggest either a fire or the ammunition was destroyed in an explosion. However the ammunition was a mix of German and Russian which would suggest that it was probably collected after the war and destroyed. Just my 2 cents!
