Actually, Elmyra got popular during the End of Season 1, because Cree Summer insisted they'd do more to develop her character. And they did. Giving her Parents, an older Sis voiced by Punky Brewster, a Younger Brother and a Cartoon Comic Strip Creation from herself "Mr Skullhead". You clearly didn't watch Tiny Toon Adventures.

To be fair Elmyra was never a bad kid she just needed to learn to calm down a bit. In order for Monty to be redeemed his parents need to learn to grow a spine and teach him he can’t get everything and anything he wants.

I’ve recently watched through TTA, and I’ll admit, while Max has a compelling backstory, I’m fine with him staying a villain. It’s good that Buster has an adversary that embodies some of the more obnoxious traits of the upper class western world, and which he can punch up to. I’m happy they gave Max some more sympathetic moments later on, partly written because his VA Danny Cooksey got tired of always playing a bad guy, but I feel like some social commentary would be lost if any future iteration tried to fully redeem him.

I thought Monty was bad! Like really bad! So bad, I literally considered him one of if not the worst fictional characters of all time! Elmyra also sucked, but I will give her this. She doesn’t know she’s causing harm to them.
The reason I hate him so bad is because he’s a rich spoiled brat and narcissist. I even created an original character after him to vent my frustrations on spoiled/bad children.
I’m surprised to learn that even thought everyone hates him (which I think is well deserved), he’s lonely and got the short of the stick from the beginning. I think he has a hopeless social circle if he keeps this up.
I also agree that the parents are the catalyst for him being a prick.
Despite Elmyra, what if all Monty needs to be good is just a positive influence? Someone for him to be around and someone who likes/loves him unconditionally. But knows to put their foot down when Monty plays a trick. Pride and Greed are terrible sins.

Hell, I'd say the same is true for Chloe Bourgeois, they had ALL the setups in the world to fix her act but series creator Thomas Astruc is allergic to possibilities that don't make the show look like he's got his head up his bum.
Seriously, you have NO idea how frustrating it was to see her be a hero during Malediktator and the Heroes Day duology and they DIDN'T want her to continue being a better person by working alongside her idol (who's actually her hated enemy Marinette aka the show's titular hero Ladybug), realizing all she had to do was admit she's unhappy and let people in so they can help her.
But no, they want to make her allergic to selflessness and just keep digging her deeper into a crap-infested pit by having her get suckered by the series' main antagonist and WILLINGLY betray the heroes because she didn't understand that one of them could save her mommy and daddy better than she could!
Are you starting to see why I hate how Astruc handles his own creation? I get he doesn't want to upset the status quo but at the same time Thomas is constantly changing that all the time but Chloe stays a pain in everyone's ass and gets worse every season after the second one? Bullcrap! You just can't do that, Thomas, you'll be hated and people are gonna stop watching the show!
All in all, if it takes the fanbase to fix a hot mess like Chloe Bourgeois with their fanfics and comics as opposed to the creator's getting with the program, we have a problem here.

The reason for Montana Max being less effective as a villain as time went on, even being the protagonist of two shorts, is because his voice actor, Danny Cooksey, who was fourteen years old when the show began, complained about always having to play the bad guy.
As someone who strongly prefers the original 1990 series to the Looniversity reboot, one of the reasons for it is because Monty is a much more prominent character in the original series than in Looniversity. Thus far, Monty's only appeared in one episode of Looniversity, "Save the Loo Bru", and he's also become a victim of "Adaptational Late Appearance", since "Save the Loo Bru" is Looniversity's fifth episode, whereas "The Looney Beginning" was the original series' first.

@Nonjola The people behind Tiny Toons did a really good job of making Monty and Elmyra feel different from their Looney Tunes counterparts, Sam and Elmer. Same thing with Furrball, the Tiny Toons counterpart of Sylvester. For one thing, Furrball is mostly a normal cat who just meows compared to the talkative Sylvester. For another, one of his targets is Li'l Sneezer, the Tiny Toons counterpart of obscure Looney Tunes star Sniffles the Mouse. (Lightning Rodriguez, a Tiny Toons counterpart to Speedy Gonzales was planned, but ended up being relegated to two blink-and-you'll miss cameos.) Finally, Sweetie, Tweety's Tiny Toons counterpart mostly tends to attack Furrball when the latter is minding his own business.

    • @Tornado1994
      @Tornado1994 Před 9 měsíci

@@FlyingDuckMan360 Also keep in mind, that Ruegger in the Summer of 1989, hired Nicholas Hollander, Sherri Stoner, Bruce Pritchard and Paul Dini to head his writing team. There was a Sense of Camaraderie with Ruegger and his Four Horseman(Ruegger's nickname for Hollander,Stoner,Pritchard and Dini) and they all worked tirelessly to completely make sure each Little Looney Tune completely distinguished themselves from their Regular Looney Tunes Counterpart. (All alongside Reugger had worked on Shows like The Snorks, Dinosaucers, Jem, Pound Puppies, My Pet Monster).
Buster and Babs were both Based off of Bugs Bunny. Honey was later retooled as Lola in Mid 90s, but Babs' was an algamation of Bugs' Female Drag Alter Egos, and Tress MacNeille's Impressions she created at Second City in the 70s and The Groundlings during the 1980s, that's why she was cast as Babs. Cryptkeeper himself John Kassir was originally considered for the Voice of Buster, but Charlie Adler's persona fit Buster Immaculately and since Buster was a more Fleshed out Mascoty Protagonist then the Smartass Bugs, Adler was picked to voice Buster.
For Daffy's Counterpart, the idea was to make Plucky a complete Satire of Chuck Jones' often hated Interpretation of Daffy(Jones HATED TTA and insisted that Amblin and WB NEVER use the likeness of his image in the cartoon, that's why Jones is NEVER referenced or mentioned or seen in Tiny Toon Adventures) so Plucky was written as a Delusional Megalomaniac, but with a Heart of Gold, which is why L.A. Radio Personality Joe Alaskey was picked to voice him. Alaskey had actually pitch hitted for Mel Blanc since 1985 due to Blanc's Voice strained from decades of Chain smoking(Blanc Quit Smoking in '85 after he realized how much Cigarettes had ruined his voice) as the voice of Daffy(Blanc returned as Daffy in Who Framed Roger Rabbit and Quackbusters in 1988) but Alaskey got Blanc's blessings to carry on as Daffy and thus he got cast as Plucky.
For Shirley, the entire creation came from Gail Matthius herself. Matthius had a very brief and often little discussed unsuccessful stint on Saturday Night Live(During its Legendary Infamous Abysmal Season 6 in 1980-81) but she had broke though in Voice Acting and had Written and produced the Hit Sex Comedy film "Valley Girl" so the idea was to create a Modern Day Melissa Duck(Daffy's Wife, who had just recently cameod in Quackbusters) with a Valley Girl accent while mocking and satirizing Actress Shirley McClaine and her supposed involvement with Psychics and the Occult.
Originally, Noel Blanc, Mel's loyal son was cast as Porky's NEW Counterpart, the Nerdy,Romantic, Timid Pig Hampton J Pig. Porky had been the Straight man and Looney Tunes' Mascot for 54 years at the time, so it made logical sense for Noel to voice Hampton, but word got out to Legendary Voice Don Messick that a NEW Modernized Looney Tunes Spinoff was in development, tired of being typecast in Hanna Barbera Cartoons, Messick wanted in. And so, HE was cast as Hampton instead of Noel. Noel voiced the New Porky instead.
For Fifi LaFume. There had been heavy brainstorming on what a Modern Day Pepe would be. Hollander himself created a More Younger,Beautiful,Feminine and Seductive take of a more polished FEMALE Pepe, and named her Fifi. When Ruegger heard Kath Soucie's Voice Demo Resume provided by Andrea Ramano, they KNEW they had found the PERFECT Voice for Fifi.
For Sweetie Bird, they decided a Yuppie laced, Youthful Groundlings member being trained to become a Voice Director by Ramano would handle the voice, so it was given to 28 year old Candi Milo.
The LEGEND himself, nicknamed Mel Blanc's Apprentice Frank Welker was given the choice to voice not one, not two but THREE Characters in Little Looney Tunes: Furball, the Feral non English Speaking Kitty and Sylvester counterpart, Gogo Dodo a Zany NEW Take on the Obscure Tex Avery Creation "The Dodo" from the 1939 Merry Melodies short "Trouble in Wackyland" and Little Beeper, Road Runner's New Counterpart, Wild E's New Counterpart Calamity was made and written to be Mute.
Finally getting to Montana Max and Elmrya Duff, there were several deep layers and nuances in the approach to how they would be written. Max's Early Drafts called for him to be a TRUE Villain. Who would use his Rich Spoiled Family's power to make Acme Acres a Living Hell. But the more, Ruegger and his 4 Horseman studied Yosemite Sam, the more they discovered he had few nuances and was Generally just a Punchline Villain with a funny Cowboy Persona and was Bugs Bunny's Foil. Originally, 14 year old Jason Mardsen was planned to voice him, but Mardsen fell short in his Audition demos, so his Counterpart Danny Cooskey also 14 got the Role. By this time, it was decided that Max would be Buster's Rival.
Elmrya Duff's Early Draft called her, "Elmer Fudd's Niece" and she was originally written as a "More Malevolent, more Smarter Version of Elmer Fudd who wanted to Capture ALL the other Furry Toons and make them her Slaves". Cree Summer was ALWAYS considered for the voice of Elmrya right from the Get go, but she REJECTED the original draft as it called for her to do her Penny Gadget voice in a more Hammed up Form, she insisted they change Elmrya's Character to a more "Loving and Nice, but Misunderstood and Misguided Character" and Dini LOVED this idea of making Elmrya more of an Unintentional Villain and a Dimwit who treats all the other Furry Characters as Feral Pets and has no idea how to actually care for them.
Keep in Mind, ALL the Voice Actors had dictation and control of how their Characters would be written. They each got to work together with the 4 Horseman.
Getting back to the name "Little Looney Tunes" The Decision to Rename it came in November of 1989 after NBC Rejected the Pitch as a Planned Saturday Morning Cartoon. Interestingly, Nickelodeon/MTV Networks took Heavy interest in it calling "Looney Tunes Jr" and considered adding it to their Network, but Frank Redstone (Nickelodeon's Then Network Chief and President from June 1983 to April 1995 and son of Viacom founder Samuel "Summer" Redstone)became too concerned that he'd have nowhere on the slot to put it all(Looney Tunes took up the remaining Early Evening Nickelodeon Timeslot and on Nick at Nite as well at the time) so he regretfully passed on it.
It was Sherri Stoner who came up with the name "Tiny Toon Adventures". The 80s were coming to an end, and she believed that if the name had a more "Stylish sounding name with more Pizzazz that reflected the new Decade", that the IP would be more viable. The First Season of Tiny Toon Adventures mostly ran in Syndication, but Fox had already decided to pick up its Exclusive Rights in September of 1990 when TTA debuted, by May 1991, it became part of the Fox Kids label and lineup Thanks to Margaret Louch, Manager of FOX Kids and President of Marvel Entertainment from September 1985 to June 1996.(Jim Henson and Stan Lee had personally picked Louch).

It's funny you should mention the fact that kids (and the Tiny Toons by extension) aren't so forgiving towards people who are nasty to them. Danny Cooksey complained about constantly playing the villain, so Monty was given two shorts where he was the protagonist. These outings are genuinely interesting because their modus operandi is to be as mean as possible. Even when Monty's the main star, he's humiliated and kicked around at every turn. Given his personality, it's completely played off as Monty getting what's coming to him, so he's not undeserving.
My Dinner With Elmyra, the second and last short, is the best one because we see a different side to everybody. In a nutshell, Monty is roped into taking Elmyra out because her family is a friend of his parents. He doesn't want to take her out and also doesn't want to be seen. You'd think he'd take her to an expensive restaurant which is off-limits to poor kids, but he doesn't want to spend that much and, in an attempt to sabotage his date, takes her to Weenie Burgers. Unfortunately, she loves the place and all the Toonsters are present.
The whole Weenie Burgers sequence is the best part of the short because of how much you can read into it. Elmyra asks for the most childish item on the menu and Monty has to order it for him. The cashier practically bellows what Monty's asked for, prompting all the patrons to point and laugh at him. I get a sense of ambiguity from the cashier because, at face value, he's a nice guy trying to follow the "service with a smile" policy. Despite this, you can alternatively interpret his actions as passive-aggression. Monty often hangs out at the burger joint, he's probably bullied the staff. The cashier can see that Monty's in an embarrassing situation and trying not to be noticed. Therefore, the cashier can humiliate him and get away with it.
To add insult to injury, the Toonsters begin singing "Sitting in a Tree" and Elmyra loves it, thinking they're serenading her and Monty. It's not just the likes of Buster, Babs, Plucky, etc. Not even Fifi, Hamton and Mary, the nicest characters on the show, are above mocking and laughing at Monty.
It's not mean-spirited in the same way as a show like It's Always Sunny or Family Guy, but it is for Tiny Toons' standards. It's also one of the funniest shorts the show had to offer.

Never really watched this show, but I wonder how Max would fair if he had a sibling to play with. Think about it: It'd be perfect for him. A sibling would be someone raised in the same household, who might have the same inflated sense of pride and love of material possessions. Max might see having a sibling as finally having an equal.

Montana Max is my Favourite character his storys are really good like The Acme Acres Zone" "Citizen Max" "Love Disconnection" and "Sepulveda Boulevard" i hated it when they replaced him with Rudy in Pinky Elmyra and the brain but luckily that is none cannon i don't think Elmyra would just forget about Montana Max she had a big crush on him and loved him and cared about him. im Happy that Montana Max is back for Tiny Toons looniversity

Angelica has to be my third favourite character in Rugrats after Phil and Lil. I really feel for in general. It’s not her fault she’s bad. Charlotte is a workaholic and Drew tries his best, but it doesn’t always work out in his favour. I know you’ve told me before you’re not a Rugrats fan Trevor, but these are just facts.

Love your video my friend but I have to politely disagree. Though in. the flashback episode with Buster, Montana Max's parents did seem like the type to make him forget his poor past; they wouldn't forsake certain friendships, such as the Duntz family ( Elmira). If you remember elmira's, let's face it call Mom backdoor pilot episode, you'll see that her family is a typical nuclear family that lives in a above middle class suburban neighborhood, and just try to get by in life . Not worried about money, but more concerned about the baby getting out of the playpen! Even Montana Max's father would encourage Max to use his imagination instead of wasting money on toys that he was going to destroy anyway . Even though the show has some inconsistencies, one thing was clear was that Monty's parents did not put up with a spoiled brat attitude and would usually try to make him be more humble.. they weren't always the type to spoil him rotten, they would usually try to lessen it if it meant him to be a better person, such as Elmira's date! The parents threatened to take his allowance away!😂
