  • How to loop Wicked Game as well as learn the lead part for acoustic guitar. I do 90% of this video using the Voicelive 3 pedal - amzn.to/2LvV6bs - and have programmed fx to switch between the different parts. I use a boss OC3 - amzn.to/2PTJFfO - to help create a bigger sound when I'm doing the percussion parts, and also later on when I drop out the second loop, and want to keep a reasonable amount of bottom end still around :)

    Hey todos ! Just a "little" thing : the lead part's first note is a B (Bb in your version). Pre-bending it is a good way to avoid bottlenecks and whammy bars !

      If you like the guitar setup ftom one preset and the vocal setup from another preset, is there a way of copying these individually to a new third preset. I can only see h o w to copy a whole preset and not individual layers.

    • @davidshanhun
      @davidshanhun  Před 3 lety

      @@malcolmhodgson7540 Sadly not that I know of. I filmed the details of a layer that I wanted so I could copy it that way. So basically copying the layer with say guitar that you wanted to a new slot, then filming the details of the vocal settings on the preset you wanted, and manually copying them in. If you come across an option to do just the layer let me know though!

    Very interesting - thanks. Good to see the VL3 back in action. Faced with some of the same issues, my go to approach is to use Steps on the VL to add an octaver or delay. Then I just have to manage one button to cycle through them rather than changing presets and settings independently. You've got cleverer feet though.

    • @davidshanhun
      @davidshanhun  Před 5 lety

      Hey Chris. Yeah I'm glad it's all good too! That's totally a good approach as well. I use the looper a lot so have the step pedal set to the loop function - thinking I may remap a few things after this comment though... I have the switch 6, but often don't take it in as haven't wired up a board or really found a good location for where it will go if i do! I think the switch 3 is probably all i need (and easier to actually mount on a pedal board!). I found previously that the 'hold' option to get to the loop screen led to potential 'undo' situations when exiting the looper from time to time :) Cool thing about the pedal is that we all use it in so many different ways eh? Your comment will have me up for ages experimenting again now though haha!

      Hey Sascha, The issue for me seemed to be getting the contact points cleaned of the actual internal parts of the pickup - it was essentially bad connections from simply the age of the guitar, and that the pickup system and wiring had never been cleaned - especially the contact points. Let me know if that helps yours also! How old is your guitar?

      Hi Clency, the RC-2 only gives you an option to store one loop. with the pedal you have you won't be able to switch to different loops sadly. It's still a great pedal, but you can only have one chord sequence at a time. Hope that helps!

    Hey David! Thanks for this! Can I ask a question? What's this black pedal in front of VL3? And how do you achieve this really nice acoustic sound? I see, you plugged in just one cable to instrument input. Is your Takamine equipped with piezzo and mic, and both signal come via one cable and are those blended, or how? How you avoid unwanted piezzo's dry sound? And how you can achieve the perc sound with your guitar with piezzo? I don't see any mic plugged in. I have Takamine also, but cheaper version, than yours and I have some nice results with Bodyrez, but can't do perc sound and allways I hear this crappy piezzo sound a little bit. Ok, I know this is recording for YT and here you are using an amp and soundcard, but how you're doing this in live situations? So, what's the secret of your acoustic sound? Thanks in advance! Gabor

      But I don't understand how you are doing perc sound. Ok, there is mic inside of the guitar, not just piezzo, but you plugged with just one cable. Sorry for dummy thing, but it means, that the signal of piezzo and mic are going to one cable?

    • @davidshanhun
      @davidshanhun  Před 3 lety

      Hi Gábor! There is no mic in my guitar - it is a Takamine ND15c with the pickup under the bridge. What I suggest is that you experiment experiment experiment with your guitar - all of our guitars are different including the actual guitar and the pickup, but with experimentation you will start to find sounds that can work for you. What percussion sound are you most wanting to get - the kick drum sound or the snare/string slap type percussion?

    • @gaborpelva9205
      @gaborpelva9205 Před 3 lety +1

      @@davidshanhun Yes, when I hit the strings at the bridge, there is a deep kick-type sound and string slap is working also, but I'm interested in the thinner sound, when you hit the top of the upper bout. My piezzo doesn't receive this. Thanks for quick feedback.

    Hi David great tutorial. About the voice live 3 is it easy to use ? Would you recommend it ? Do you have a tutorial on it ? Thanks

    • @davidshanhun
      @davidshanhun  Před 4 lety

      Hey Stevie. I would answer both yes and no on the voicelive 3 being easy to use haha! It takes a little bit of time to setup and because there is SOO much packed into it - there genuinely is a bit of 'learning time' that you'll need to put in. In saying that, once you've done that and understand some basics on how it works plus have some settings created that you like, then it is straightforward on how it actually works and is a really great all in one pedal for both guitar and vocal effects, as well as a really awesome looping unit. If you want something that you can run out of the box on day 1 - it's not for you however. It's fun out of the box, but does need some personal input time to create your own settings, match volumes and have everything how you like it. Good side is it's super customisable. So..... loong reply, but hopefully that helps you! Watching this might help you get a better sense of the unit - czcams.com/video/vuL4Oal_3SU/video.html - feel free to reach out with any questions! 😊

      David Shanhun Hi David Thanks very much for your response. Could you please help me to choose a looper pedal with 2 tracks or more? I’ve been looking at loads of them but they all seem to have their issues.For me sound quality and ease of use are most important. I was looking at the Aeros but saw some negative comments regarding firmware. If you could point me in the right direction that would be brilliant mate. @@steviebuoy320 the best option is most likely the Rc300. The RC300 is the reliable industry standard for 2 loops or more. Other options for two loops are the RC-30, ditto x4 perhaps. Are you looking for just a standalone looper, or wanting effects options as well? They all have their little quirks/challenges/issues, so would be curious what you're aiming at - live shows, home fun etc? PS. I don't think there's a perfect option created yet 😂

      @@stevieross4415 I haven't had much experience with the Aeros loop studio sorry! I did have a brief look at it and thought it would be super fiddly to switch between loops etc, but that's also it's blessing in being such a small size and only having a few press-able pedals. And again, in saying that - I haven't actually used it. Some others to consider also would be the boomerang III (i always forget it because i don't like it's switches haha), and the pigtronix infinity. Neither of which I have any real experience with tbh.
