I was stuck in hell 6 trying to do everything by myself. Finally swallowed my pride and asked my clan for help. They carried me through challenge rifts, upgraded 2ndary gear, and hit hell 7 in no time.
1.Your green gear should be already at lvl 10. Ask someone from the clan to go over with you so you can raise your CR by doing so. By opening lvl 204 you will be able to get H7 gear, without it you can't. 2. Farm dungeons in groups so you can get H7 set items. I'm at the same level as you are as F2P and 8900 CR with lvl12 legendary gear and lvl 10 green. 3. Do WB raids every week this critical. 5raids + defense x2 = 7*2 =14 CR.
I am at 11'800 CR compleatly f2p. As a whale I would be at 13'000 but there is nothing in the game that needs above 11.8k CR since that is hell 8 dungeons. If you constantly did your 1k Warband points every weeek and upgraded the table you get 425 CR from that (500 possible if you always did 1.5k but thats 4x more grind than 1k points). Then gear upgrades are a really big thing, you need to farm and get the items at the blacksmith up, I think at 24 you have 60 CR extra on each slot compeared to your upgrades, same goes for secondary gear where you can just get carried for the upgrades.
I was in your position a few months ago when I was just a BP player. I basically tried to join parties that wouldn't mind me leeching for maybe 1-2 weeks to get whatever green item that can boost my CR up. Best dungeon for this would be Namari or Kikuras. My CR went up by about 1000 when i completed my greens (random sets).
When i couldn't find a party for me to leech I just stayed in the hell difficulty i was able to solo and grind for the scraps to get the leggo upgrades. CR is not a paywall to be honest. You just have to grind it.

U have to be at or above server pargon to get high quality legendaries + try to get in wb and upgrade ur tablu i get 10 cr in every upgrade it might look like it’s little but it really helps
My green set is lvl 10, and the armor weapon are only level 13, much lower then yours, even the resonance. My reso only 650, but my CR is currently 8.7k. so my best guess is, probably the warband raid do much different here.
The only time you wanna spend is if you are really invested in PvP , For PvE it's not worth spending , Just get your levels for now , And eventually you can be carried once the hell 8 opens up

Well, Gems does not give lot's of CR, even the 5/5 Stars. The Set Items and Primary gear will boost your CR, try to get the triple or high double rolls, and also being in a warband doing the weekly raids gives a huge amount of CR too, try to find a active warband to help you in your journey. For little and medium spenders, the best way is buy the telluric pearls weekly bundles, and save the legendary crest to run in a huge run. For some unknown reasons, the normal legendary crests gives us better 5 star ranks, the eternal legendary crests gives unbound gems to sell, however gives the worst outcomes and lower stats for all gems. The pearl bundles garantee the copy o 5 star that you need to upgrade, gem powers, and maybe some good 5 stars gems.
If you’re wanting cr gems is the last place to be looking. May be an extra 200 per but I highly doubt you’re spending the thousands to do that. Get a few h7 greens or join a farm party in h7

Nah don’t spend…get it from set items it may take 100-200 dungeons runs. You will get regular gear in dungeons as well so you will come across something decent out of 200 runs…check out future update end of month first …h8 same h7 just higher Rating you can get from gears.
the problem is you play the game solo. do you have warband? i have atleast 500 cr from just warband.... its not paywall i dont pay a penny and i have never had problem to go next hell...you gain around 12cr per week in warband... so not doing it in long run will hurt you so much. also never go raid bosses in less then 8 people you loosing on hellquarry levels
Man I been trying to find an active warband. Everyone I find they aren’t active for raids and not even doing the tableau. I’ve been forced to play solo it’s not a choice lol
Best option as u said is to find a party and get carried. Do it after u complete the Challenge Rift difficulty for H7 and wait for 3 days, after that u just need to do 9 dungeons in H7 and u will have upgrades. Try gambling with gold too if u have completed the req for H7 Challenge Rift.
You don't need to spend to get CR, get an active warband (your lossing a Lot of Cr ir u don't), farm bestiary, farm dungeons, this game is about grind, id u don't do that, then you always gonna be far behind

STEPPING up with your armor upgrades will give you 100s of combat rating...

Jump into rapid h7 groups once you on the raft you can afk

You need to farm scraps to upgrade your gear, straight up if you are completely free to play.
Easy cr can be obtaited by getting carried in higher hell dungeons, or challenge rifts. Also wb tableau gives substential amount.
