Because of it's size, the Shoebill doesn't have a lot of natural enemies, the Nile Crocodile and the occasional stalking feline might snatch up a fledgling here or there, but because the adult bird can fly and it's up to 60 inches in height, it doesn't have any flying predators that can take it mid-flight.

I can't be the only one who's amazed that it can move its neck and body while keeping its head frozen in place. Like the head got stuck in "Pause" mode while the rest of the body is in "Play" mode. What makes it even more fascinating is the sheer size of the head. Being able to keep it completely still is really cool.
super late reply, but bird eyes are much larger compared to their skulls than human eyes, and are often semi-elliptical , which both make them hard to move. this led to them developing an incredibly keen sense of balance and the ability to keep their head steady, as their eyes can't make minor adjustments, so without the ability to keep their heads level and move smoothly they would be unable to focus their vision.

Evolution is a lie bitch
I wasnt afraid of birds before today but this bird just single handily made me lose my entire stomach
Its a good thing they don't attack humans 🤧 they just stare at you. Which in my opinion is still terrifying
did you check out the cassowary yet?
0:42 something deep in my DNA shuddered when this thing stood up. It was like seeing death itself.
Now we know where Predator’s sound comes from.
This is an under rated comment. Lol

The clicking noise of the Predator was created by Peter Cullen, the voice of Optimus Prime.
I'm looking at it now, and it wasn't too terrifying in the beginning. It actually seemed rather cute. Then it turned toward the camera and raised its head. I shuddered in terror for a moment, and felt better once I heard the noise I came to hear. It most certainly is a dinosaur. Hope this species can recover.
That thing was obviously a dinosaur at one time
Actually still is, all birds are from the same family as dinosaurs
The closest thing that we have to a Dino. Amazing creature 👌🏼
I've heard they're pretty chill and friendly.
..
NO.They cannot eat humans-don't care about them-Want solitude, and grass-wetlands to hunt food in, is all.

Seems like that this Stork has watched too many Jurassic Park movies and he’s pretending to be the Velociraptor calling its pack mate in the kitchen scene😂
SUB ZER0 You atheist for sure.
SUB ZER0 Mr. Ventura how could you!!
SUB ZER0 This byrd is an anonymus birdus capillarus, wich means they are descendants of the mammarian tribes of israel and the coasts of eureka. Even the Egyptians used to worship them as the Gods of reincarnation and soccer. Look it up if you don't believe me dummy.
🙃😛😜😝😮🤓😐😊
Waaris Sattar clever girl...
I said the same thing but birds are technically dinosaurs anyway !!!

Did this bird just do a full on movie roar preparation?
Such a fantastic creature
*das one big honkin beak*
That's why it's called a shoebill! Its beak looks like a gigantic wooden clog XD
imagine what the people who discovered this animal felt when they heard this birds sounds
A big ol' NOPE.
Scientists: we are about to see this new bird.
Other scientist: what’s that noise.
Shoebill: 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
its like the bird gonna jumpscare the sh!t out of me!
Shoebills are very docile to humans but they will stare back at us .
He’s watching you.
My name is same like you
Such incredible body control. I'd love to see one of these in person.
That bird is a straight up dinosaur
If a bird that big appears in front of me making that sound, I will sh!t bricks and proceed to dig my grave.

Sounds like someone hitting a plastic bucket
Bro just walked off extinction
