- Sky News host Rowan Dean has commended Opposition leader Peter Dutton for his “genius move” on announcing his nuclear plan which will “win” them the next federal election.
Mr Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan last week.
“In my opinion, it was a genius move - it is completely throwing the left, Labor and the Greens and the Teals into a quandary,” Mr Dean said.
“They have no idea how to argue about this.
“I am tipping it now … the Coalition will win the forthcoming election, and this was the trump card they played.”
No to manchild Albo , Greens, Teals!
We are slowly becoming the technological bogans of the developed world. Hopefully Dutton can change this.
The ALP has been in office for almost a full term, is anyone better off under Albanese?...No, even worse off...The Greens and the Teals have also been in office for a full term...Has the climate improved... NO. it got even worse.
A proper debate will destroy the ideology of renewable superpower. Bring it on.
YES!!! This is our way forward and will prove albo has no idea about what is needed within this country.

Labor got it wrong with the voice referendum.. So that Labor will be proven wrong again ,with what they think Australians want ."We need another referendum, for what Australian's need, Cheap reliable energy",
Yes. But Dutton needs to say that a lot louder. I have never heard him criticise Labor for their lack of costings and demand that Bowen remove all the NDA's he has slapped on all the deals he is signing with overseas investors on our behalf.
One term for Labor more than enough 😢!!!??🥵💔

He’s the only one who gets it. Finally!
I love your show Rowan...absolutely brilliant especially The Canberra Cliwn Show...makes my Sunday morning & spor on!!!! Peter Dutton will make a great PM....
'Genius' isn't a word i'd use with any of our politicians, left or right, least of all Dutton.
When has a politician fixed anything in Australia.
In the not-too-distant future, I envision a massive waste dump filled with Chinese solar and wind turbines worth trillions of dollars. These turbines will sit idle, contributing to chemical pollution and environmental degradation on a scale never witnessed in Australia. This is because, as time goes on, renewable energy sources will be proven ineffective, and nuclear power will emerge as the primary, dependable, and cost-effective power source of the future. We will no longer need those expensive, part time renewables.
I like politicians that are considered and measured, and Peter Dutton fills the bill on that score. Here's hoping that Dutton has his ducks in a row with those sites, because Labor are telling a very different story. You can bet they will be out working to wreck any & all progress that will give the Coalition any momentum.
It's also good that P.D. hasn't over reacted to Labor's scare campaign, and done a good job at staying mature and sensible. The contrast between him and Albo is there for all to see see and decide upon come the election.
IMHO P.D. needs to conscript a smart strategist to find his way through the mine field that Labor will be laying. It'll take something special to kick Labor out of office. But this has the makings of something that just might rid us of the Fool on the Hill.
It's going to be a tough road for Dutton there'll be a lot of fear mongering.
@@dfor50 yes but Dutton's up for the fight. He's a man of strength and conviction. I like his straight forward no nonsense approach. Whilst Albo carries on like a hysterical emotional teenage girl when challenged.
It's plug in and play for the Magnificent 7. Go Nuclear, Go Dutton.
arrogance gets him nowhere
We needs Duxton become Prime minister 🙏 👏
This is just a Uniparty bait and switch.
Place your bets. Rowan has an 'impeccable' record of predicting election winners (US and Australia) and the misfortune of investing his energy in lost causes.
No-one should get to "choose" what grid system a country shall have,,,,, it needs to be driven purely from an economic and engineering perspective,,,, we have failed and will pay the ultimate price.
Australia has so much spare land. Why not multiply the number of solar catchments into hundreds of square kilometres, rather than potentially dangerous nuclear, then having to find a place to dispose of the waste?
Why does no one care that we have homeless children and workers. Where are our priorities. I suppose no one will care until they themselves live in a car or tent. All this talk of renewables and wasted tax dollars but no talk of housing. Mmmm what has Australia become 😭
Those issues are too hard to fix because they involve doing something that neither of majors have the guts to do.....namely slashing immigration. Their financial backers in big business won't allow it. So..easier to screw around with sideshow diversionary BS ...it suits both of them
Oh well..
I'll say it again...even though it will probably be deleted by Sky again....But ,basically, neither Queen Fudd nor Skull Murphy give a rat's about any of that. They're in the business of diverting the.mushrooms with pie in the sky (news) BS stories that save both of them from having to do any real work ....and , most importantly "getting into trouble" with their employers in big business. To fix the issues that you.mention immigration and population growth would have to be cut significantly .....and that they would simply not be "allowed " to do..
Will this mean, AlBO AND BOWEN WALK AWAY AFTER WAISTING MILLIONS OF TAXPAYERS $
What ,put them where there is or was a Power Station. HOW ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT not. CAPACITY,after election. COST, after election. CITIZENSHIP, after luncheon. GO PAULINE

Nuclear is a waste of taxpayer money, but less of a waster than renewables. Why not just burn the Australian coal and gas in Australia instead of sending it overseas. There'd be less emissions if it doesn't spend months on cargo ships before being burned.
Jack, you've given the lefties, Greens and Teals a seizure with that comment! I love it!!
Totally sensible…
That’s why Bowen wouldn’t be able to get it

What is Mr Potato Head going to do about his drug addict son?
Dutton needs to put in place that if nuclear power gets up it will remain gov owned and run for the lifetime of the reactors and not sold off to the private sector
The immense difficulty in safely, and I mean safely, disposing of nuclear waste frightens the life out of me. If adopted future generations would forever be at risk of leakage and untold health damage if it occurred. Mr. Dutton your “ can” of waste comment would be hilarious if it wasn’t so potentially life threatening possibly to untold millions.
You have to get costings from around the world not like Labor who just throw out some number. The site in WA is twenty 20 km from the nearest town and 220km from Perth.
Oh, only one side "throws out numbers"?
BUSINESS OF GOVERNMENT
The way the current governments conduct the “business of government” is at odds to the way the Menzies format was conducted and would be seen as radical in those days as this movement to the left would be seen to be at odds with mainstream thinking of the time and probably still is.
I wrote on this blog about the 4 P’s which I expanded to include another P.
A punce is a person who purposefully and deliberately does something poorly but is actually good at it. \
The 5P’s being the press, the politicians, the professors, police and punces are all racing to the left while the people still believe in the Menzie ethos.
One has to understand that a significant percentage of our population gave their lives in two wars for freedoms that have been systematically destroyed by 'do-gooders".
Yes, nuclear will be expensive, but when Australia's industry closes down completely like South Africa's has done, It's going to be one helluva lot more expensive to resurrect it.
Just hope it is cheaper as it should be

And if you don't???????? Will you give this pipe dream up? Didn't think so......
I could not care less if they put a Nuclear Power plant in my neighbour hood. All that means is heaps of high paying jobs for locals. Operators, Process Engineers, Hygienists, Electrical Engineers, IT and OT people, the list goes on and bring it on...
Cost: Finland went to nuclear and the cost electricity dropped to one third. That’s what we’ll get from the nuclear transition.

The undeserved "I will not listen" arrogance of Albanese is asthonishing. Nuclear is used in so many developed countries but this PM will not entertain it. His re newables only policy has decimated businesses and households and will result in his removal next election.
I'm tired of hearing all this speculation already. That's all it really is, speculation, as nobody really knows the costs nor how to store the waste long term. Would it be a lot safer to build more dams, protect from flooding and use the stored water to run through turbines for hydro power.....much safer and places like Lismore would be glad to have no more floods. ???
Any Greens or Teal devotees out there , tell us how much this renewable experiment is costing ? If your ideal position in net zero , Fine , no disagreement here , but accept that Nuclear energy is Zero emissions , so there is the positive . How much will it cost ? That will be decided at some point , when will we know how much cost is imvolved with wind , solar , Hydro , green hydrogen , wave energy ?? The Cost does matter ...tell us !!!
Standard one-megawatt nuclear power station cost about $8.65 billion. Multiply it by the number of plants needed for our electricity needs. It's all taxpayer's money. And then you have to wait 8-10 years with inevitable cost overruns. Thanks but no thanks.
Had to be done, Nuclear Subs coming, was only logical thing to do regarding power issues.
FYI you stuffed up ALP.
Okay 😮
So can anyone tell me when Duttons plan will actually lower power prices. Is it 15 years, 20 years or more from now. Rita and Co are barking mad. Oh and by the way he says the taxpayers will fund this rather than having industry pay (mostly) for the renewable installations.
Solar and wind has been installed for 15 yrs plus has the price of power reduced?.

Yes definitely Liberals need to support corporate American businesses...
It would be better than doing for China as renewables are.

I think Australians are well and truly on board with renewables, Dutton’s nuclear plan will only succeed if he successfully argues that nuclear energy is there to support renewables …..not to take the place of renewables….. but to support it
Nuclear reactors produce power ALL THE TIME. You cant "turn them off".
If there is a large renewable presence in the mix, where is that nuclear power going to go when the renewables are pumping the power out???
I hope they put a reactor in my backyard. We were once an energy power base for the state until the Climate Lies became a thing. It would be nice to see power being generated in the Latrobe Valley again. The region could do with the employment opportunities as well.
It makes sense to put a reactor right next door to transmission lines, does it not?
100 percent renewables in Tasmania and Canberra and South Australia has about 90 percent and all are working fine.
Tassie has lots of hydro, South Australia has the most expensive power and nobody cares about Canberra.
South Australia has 70% installed capacity of renewables as well as gas and diesel. They not only have the highest electricity prices in the country it is also the most unreliable. During a recent wind drought with overcast weather they couldn't draw on the interstate interconnectors because each state was dealing with its own shortages. Almost all of their electricity was coming from gas and diesel at that time and on one late afternoon of those days they didn't have any electricity coming from wind, solar or batteries. SA is the reason that they are starting to worry about gas shortages.
Most of Tasmania's energy comes from hydro but in times of drought and reduced water supplies they too have to turn to gas.
The ACT may have contracted to green energy companies but they most definitely are not running on 100% green energy. They draw their electricity from the same grid as us, there is not a separate grid for renewable energy. They suffer the same shortages as we do if the wind isn't blowing and the sun isn't shining. Their 100% renewables claim is BS. Hasn't happened anywhere in the world on a commercial scale.
@@dfor50 but lets go nuclear to make it more expensive and are their any blackouts in those three states because of renwables because that is argument being used and people who have solar panels aren't they getting electricity for free?
