I love both of my s6’s. They are both early model, blue label seagulls. S6 and s6 folk. Seagull is about the best bang for the buck out there for a solid top guitar, sounds great, plays great, very, very stable tuning. I have several vintage small body and dread martins and 9 times out of 10 I grab one of the seagulls. Love them, can’t say enough good about them.

I want a mini jumbo cutaway with cedar top cherry back and 1.8 nut. Seagull at this point has developed a signature sound with those wood combinations. Please be proud of it and make some other styles for those of us who want a finger style guitar that’s not tiny, but not a bulky dreadnought either.

I love my seagulls. I have the artist CH, maritime dred and the excursion parlor. All unique in their own voice and beautiful! I like the slightly sloped shoulders of the maritime, its partway between the full dred and a full slope-D. It definitely pairs well with my concert hall.

Thanks so much for the review. Great comments help the novice know what they are hearing.

I played one of these in a shop today - it felt, looked and sounded pretty good and the price was ok too. I'd never heard of Seagull before I'm mostly an electric guitar player but am now getting into acoustic and looking to replace my cheap Epiphone acoustic.

If I buy a Seagull, does it come with Jim to play it for me?

I'm currently looking for a new acoustic, having parted company with the Breedlove Passport, the S6 sounds brilliant - nice cedar tone somewhere between mahogany and spruce or so it sounds to my old ears!

I played the folk the other day and I love the nut width. I’ve got an ovation celebrity and it’s too narrow for me. Time to trade. Never buying a Chinese made guitar again.

very good review. thanks. might want to consider ditching the clip on tuner while demoing guitars. I know I'd prefer to see it sans cheap red plastic.

I know the nut width on some are wider but what is the saddle spacing on these models? I'm reading a lot of conflicting information. Some are reporting that even though the nut width is larger that it does not translate any wider at the saddle than other guitars. I've read any where from 2 1/8" on the coastline to 2 5/32" on the SWS. 2 1/8" isn't any larger than my Yamaha FG. I would think the advantage of the nut would be also translated to a tad larger at the saddle as well. No saddle width on the Seagull spec sheet.

I wish that parlor came with a bigger neck, played an s6 for years and the neck on that bad boy was amazing but when i tried the Grand it was substantially narrower.
Too bad, that body style was a lot more comfortable to play in sitting position than the s6 or folk but i need that space on the fretboard.

I will never sell my seagull. I have Gibson Hummingbird and other, my cedar rustic after some setting up to fit me and I'm sure it's the lowest priced has something that all the big money instruments can,t reach in its place.Out of all my guitars I play the old Seagull both tone and smell frome the cedar and I have had it for some time now....

Sorry, but not everyone wants a small body with a wide neck width. There’s actually a decent portion of the human population who is small: 5 feet/small hands/short fingers. So we’re looking at parlors in order to get a slimmer neck width at nut.

It and the saddle are rosewood. I've never had a guitar with such phenomenal sustain and well balanced tone. Electronics are a definite plus in this price range.

coastline models are solid cedar or spruce tops

    • @j.mshrader4104

The tops on the s6 line are indeed solid, pressure tested cedar or spruce. Back and sides are laminated cherry. But they are all cherry. No birch in the laminations.
