Thank you. It's fun to learn what books had influence on lives.

Very interesting, fun and ohh, more books to go on my list. I love making and using junk journals/art journals/glue books. With much of my past lost to memory snafus, I am slowly "writing" my memoir (getting what I can of my history on paper). Methinks a small journal dedicated to the Top 10 books. . . with many a rabbit trail and way more than 10 on the list would be a perfect memoir addition. Thank you! Also, thank you for being a librarian. My traumatic childhood was greatly soothed by several of your sister librarians (all were female). I hit the first grade already reading. My teacher sat me at the back of the class right next to a bookcase. She and the librarian kept a rather tall stack of constantly refreshed books for me to read. Books are still my Drug of Choice and my trust, reverence and admiration for librarians has never been scuffed or tarnished in any way. Thank you again.

Good for you, Marsha! Finding the books that helped to make the person you are, is an interesting assignment. Thanks for your kind comments, and happy memoir writing!

My small town library had the original Nancy drew books where she wore a cloche hat and drove a roadster.

WOW. How about that. The power of the written word. And there you are with Thoreau and his books in a bookstore by Walden Pond. WOW. I can also say Nancy Drew help drive my love of mysteries. Thanks for these very interesting videos.

MANY mystery readers point to Nancy Drew as their entry into the field. Hmm. Maybe I should go back and read some of them, too?

I actually just purchased all the Nancy Drew Mysteries from thriftbooks and have started reading them in order. I had only read a few as a kid. So far I have read 10 as a 67 year old retired man with a lot of time on his hands. I think I am enjoying these books more now than I did as a kid. I am also reading the Alfred Hitchcock Three Investigators series but I get those books from interlibrary loans. For some reason those books are selling for prices too rich for me and they are only paperbacks! And yes, I didn't leave out the Hardy Boys. I recently bought most of those from thriftbooks again but the Hardy Boys just don't grab me like Nancy Drew and the Three Investigators do.

Thank you! I just discovered your channel. I love your fascinating review. It has really got me thinking about the most influential books I have read in my life. I was very fortunate and had the opportunity to visit Walden Pond and Louisa May Alcott's home while visiting my daughter when she lived in Boston. I also visited The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art. As an early childhood educator, that was a real thrill! Reading has so many ways of adding enjoyment to our lives. Thanks for sharing, Francie! There ARE a lot of cool author sites to see EVERYWHERE, and many in Massachusetts and New England. It was also a fun assignment to think about the books that have made an impact on me.
