Let indian govt. take over BCCI, they will bring cricket down to the level of football and hockey. Create a small scale but non-govt. ICL style rebel league for football. League should be self sufficient funded privately and should focus on commercial growth. Once government involvement is rendered non-existent, growth is imminent and Football/Hockey can easily surpass Cricket. Indians want to watch a champion player/team and not only cricket. Most of the fans don't even know how to play leather ball cricket. They feel depressed watching football or hockey matches as the team cannot compete at world level. People here giving their opinion based on cricket, saying first perform then ask for funds, things dont work like that. You have to invest at the grassroots level, make every age group teams and then see the results. Saudi is doing this by bringing foreign players, they are now Targeting players to play in their 2-3 league, so that every league can be made competitive and the local players can be pushed to the next level.
