      more tips
-use your rangefinder when you are waiting for enemies, i started to do this a while ago ae when you are in the flank waiting for people to come and it works.
      - if you doubt aim for their cannon, is not a good advice if you aren't a good shooter, it may give you time to decide what to do against hard targets.
-Use smoke as a fake bait, in fast tanks such as m24 you can throw few smoke granades then go around covered by a hill and take the flanks of people waiting for the smoke to fade.
      - turret better than hull, if you hear an enemy in your rear is better to turn your turret than moving the whole vehicle, you make less noise, and some people wont see you until is too late.

My ten cents of tips. 7+ years of playing. How time flies.
    1. Open custom matches & practice fighting the AI in the tiers you will be fighting negative -2 to plus +2 or more, this is better then doing real battles. It will save you SL & give invaluable map intelligence. The AI is enough to learn from & is very forgiving. This works with Ground, Air & Marine.
    2. Learn your maps. Custom battles are excellent for map familiarization & exploration. So, when your in game your not tempted to go & explore.
    3. Again go into "Protection analysis" familiarize yourself with your vehicles & the opponent vehicles.
    4. Again USE YOUR BINOCULARS! you can see more & faster. The seconds matter in battle.
    5. Train your crews beyond the basic & invest your crew points.
    6. Only you matter, however if possible, cover your teammates but do not take unnecessary risks. DO NOT TRUST YOUR TEAMMATES. They will get you killed to get the enemy to spend their shell on you then properly baiting them/smoking or glancing/bouncing a blow.
    7. Learn how to deploy smoke or countermeasure appropriately that will not handicap your self or your team.
    8. When you come to a corner where there is a opponent on the adjacent side, bring yourself close to the corner. Press C to allow you to peek around the corner. If your confident with your vehicle expose a steep angle of armor this will bait an undisciplined player to take a shot, likely it will bounce. Or use smoke grenades.
    9. When your critically damaged & on fire DO NOT EXTINGUISH THE FIRE IMMEDIATELY. Attempt to neutralize the threat prior to fire extinguishing. You will last longer.
    10. Do not revenge kill. Remain tactical & objective orientated. There time is coming.
    11. Seek the high ground always but do not expose. Do not crest hills. Use cover & again use your DAMN binoculars to see over the hill.
    12. When you’re in a fighter plane in RB or other. Escort your bomber if possible. Gaijin mostly puts you out of useful range of a successful escort, so dive to build energy/speed to try to make up for the distance.
    13. If you’re a bomber climb! you need '20,000 feet or equivalent to have a chance or do what you want. People are unpredictable. Plus, watch for UFO Japanese planes. You will need a guardian angle.
    13. Know your plane & weaknesses!
    14. Helicopters are better off in realistic battles. But careful as soon as you spawn some one sees you before you see them.
    15. Check out the mobile side of warthunder & play in the officers club.
    16. If you don't have tools or ammo, go to your or a check point, where you can repair or reload.
    17. Respect your opponent. You will engage them differently.
    18. If you feel your team is reckless remind them to "fight smart" you may change there gears from casual to engaged.
    19. Try not to create a traffic jam in spawn let the faster vehicle go first. Be courteous.
    20. Do not ever go with a full load 20 to 35 rounds max.
    21. Do not ever go with minimal fuel in airplanes. Rather flame then blow.
    22. Learn the holy trinity of tank designs ! Speed, Armor & Fire power. If possible research how armor was deployed/maneuvered it will also help. Side note same with planes.
I am rambling I can go on but I should stop.

  • @rockerscum
    @rockerscum Před 3 lety +45

I would also include to not max out your ammo capacity, as the more ammo you pack into your vehicle, the more chance it will have that somebody is going to ammo rack you. Personally I always keep 25 shells on me and I portion it as 3 HE shells and 23 other shell with highest penetrating values. As how I experienced, 25 shells is quiet enough, esspecially in higher BRs where everybody is basically just 1 shotting eachother with HEATFS or in the case of the british, APFSDS (which isn't always killing you or your target always in one shot)

    • @GabrielBarbosa-gs6vk
      @GabrielBarbosa-gs6vk Před 2 lety +3

I usually take around that much, but keep an eye for ammo rack displacement, for instances Type 74 is best to carry only 17-18 bullets (not sure if it`s 16 and one on the gun or 17 and one on the gun), if you place more it starts filling the frontal rack, and we all know where that goes... stuff like IS series i usually don`t carry more than 10-12 cuz reload takes too long, so I usually don`t use them all in game. Also using HEAT above 9.0 is a nightmare, believe me. Learn to use APFSDS. Some tanks have almost triple protection in same plate from HEAT or HESH, than with APFSDS, cuz thats how composite works, and thats without considering the Bricks of ERA, that in lower tiers 8.0 to 10.0 usually only work against HEAT (only the recent ones like kontact 5, etc, protect against Kinetic, aka APFSDS), so even more protection also the slower speed of HEAT round that makes it drop faster, so less accurate.

    1) learn to snipe (dont be fooled by "coward noob camper" stuff if your camping site covers a good portion of the map your literally locking the enemy especially if it covers 2 cap points)

    another tip i myself know.
1.for tanks starting a battle dont rush in and then die. find a good spot to sit in but not too long since enemies will triangulate your position through scouts, hit markers, aircraft spots etc.
2.for lighter tanks etc chaffee or the puma never go head to head. you will die. Try flanking and hitting them from the achilles heel even if you cannon can penetrate their front ( you prob get gaijoobed with non pen, ricochet etc or just miss)
    3. if you are unsure where to shoot (example is-7) always take out the gun or breech. This basically makes sure he cannot kill you if you miss (take in mine 12.7mm machine guns for light armoured vehicles)
    4. do not ever get greedy for kills. Sure Target Destroyed is satisfying but rushng out to finish someone most likely will get you finished. Keep in mind there are enemies everywhere. They just are waiting.
    5. for aircraft doing CAS always pull up about 400+m altitude when diving. If you are using planes such as the ju87 use the airbrakes (default is H) and also set your throttle to 25 percent to 0 percent. This makes sure you do not get so fast that your planes becomes a v1 rocket that cannot maneuver. try using 0percent throttle because it reduces the sound your aircraft makes= you can prob jump some poor spaa.
    6. for everything in war thunder. Always be conscious about your surroundings. all the time. This reduces the chance someone gets to jump you. and reduces the noob starter mistake of tunnel vision.
    7. your settings. Disabled the settings which enables grass, bushes etc to show up in your binoculars and gun sights. This emoves the annoying grass that blocks your sights. if you are that tryhard, set your quality to low since in low quality all the realistic effects such as grass etc and shading are gone.

When getting straffed by an aircraft turn sideways or if they are close go toward the aircraft. It will limit or eliminate the amount of shots land on your vehicle. Unless the top of your tank and the front is well armored. In that case do not turn your weak spot toward the fire.
Learn the optimal angle for your vehicle to make the most of armor.
Unlock parts and fpe before any other mods so you are not made useless but minor damage.
Do not buy things on sale just because they are on sale. Test drive everything, look in the vehicle info at pros and cons and vehicle usage. Also google what people have to say about different vehicles. Great vehicles are made into turds by having a high repair cost or changes to BR.
Want to be op with a premium vehicle? There is one sure fire way. Find a new (the newer the better) vehicle that has dominating characteristics and play the heck out of it. Use it as much as you can before it's BR is changed. It will be in a higher BR after a while and it might still be good or it will be nerfed to the dirt.
Do not rush to higher BR. Enjoy the game and take advantage of lower costs to save SL. You may feel rich but your SL will deplete fast in higher BR.
Do not be a mode zealot. Some vehicles are fun and work great in AB some in RB. Be ok with switching to where the fun is.
Weak spots are typically on the sides and rear of tanks. Do not bother learning every tank just learn the exceptions. Projection analysis can be great for this but so can AB. Play in AB and the cross will show green when you can pen.
When trying to ambush or use cover do not be an ostrich. Just because you can not see an enemy does not mean they cant see you. Do not bury your head in the sand. Instead have awareness what parts are hanging past walls or what enemies might see from different elevation.
People will snipe you through windows (you should do this too).
You can shoot through walls and some buildings. Some will not even be destroyed. I hope Gaijin fixes this so anything that can be shot through is destroyed but this is likely not going to be fixed.

Also Idk what madness WOT does but here Sweden really only have Guns in terms of tank destroyers, u still paper, Soviet and Specially German TD`s are the full package, Heavy armor and decent (for the russian ones) or amazing guns (Germans) still don`t pen as much as swedish ones spetially considering some of them have 400 mm HEAT at 5.0 (yeah Ikv 103 I`m talking about you) but if it pens it kills cuz the ww2 TD`s from Germany and USSR have explosive filler so once inside it literally blows up inside the tank. Hence instakill.
PS: the left German TD lineup are glass cannons, so more mobility but no armour, the right TD lineup on the other side.... Armour and Guns, just look at Jagdtiger and You`ll Understand

  • @Phapchamp
    @Phapchamp Před 3 lety +1

Well im most certainly not the best player out there but i think these tips make the biggest differences.
    1) Corner checking. Use C to check around corners instead of driving blindly. This is something so important and you gotta make it an habit.
    2) Limited binocular usage. Use binos just to check if something is a tank or not and when fighting on long range. In cqc using too much bino is a disadvantage since it limits your line of sight.
    3) Know your tanks strengths. If your tank has long reload dont wander alone. If your tank is fast flank. If your tank has well shell velocity snipe. And know enemies weaknesses (stuff like overall armor layout included). For example most heavy tanks have 10+s reload. And mostly weak on lower glacis plate. Centurion series have high penetrating high velocity APDS shells with stabilizers but they are slow.
    4) Dont lose your cool and play for fun. A lot of skills in this game is earned thru time. Like ranging spotting map knowledge tank knowledge etc. You will get a hold of these with time.
    5) Blame gaijin when you die and hop into the next match. Dont care about your stats since this game doesnt really make sense and isnt balanced at all.
Yeah these are my experiences from 3 years of wt.

Hey Tankenstein, I've got a question that also doubles as a video idea, if possible:
Started the game with this video, and came back to it almost a year later, now super into this game (1,314 hours so far). I've played ground up to 9.7 US, and despite getting decent around 6.3, I've since plateaud and don't know how to improve. I'm just statistically in perfect mediocracy-- 50% win-loss rate, ~1 KD, etc, and want to get really good like some of my friends (who've played the same amount of time) but just don't know how to improve. Learned a lot of the maps, learned strengths and weaknesses of certain weapons--stuff that just comes over time--but still don't do too well at anything above 6.3.
So here's the video idea, which stems from a question of mine: "How do I get better in War Thunder, as someone who already has played for a long time."
I say this because there are currently no videos on the topic; All of the videos are for new players, stuff like learning ammo rack spots, pressing "i" to turn off your engine, angling your hull, etc. I've noticed you mentioned in many of your videos that you've improved since the last few videos, and wanted to know how you do it, or what overarching goals to reach for.
Been watching for over a year, and still watch every video. Keep it easy man!

Tips are vague and uninformative. I would say the following.
    1. Do not take max ammo. 20 to 35 rounds is enough. Any more and you will detonate more easily. Pick your targets, don't waste ammo, and you won't miss it.
    2. Situational awareness is king. Watch your mini map when someone pings it. Keep your head on a swivel. Assume every hill or bush has a tank in it.
    3. Attack distracted enemies. Use your binos to check where their gun is pointing. If they are looking in your direction don't peek until someone else shoots them. If no one does, yield ground and find a better spot.
    4. Push the objectives but not recklessly. Use rocks ditches or buildings to mask your approach or make yourself a harder target. Easier to do in low profile tanks. Don't be in too big a rush for the initial push.
    5. Play hull down. It means using the back side of a hill that is shallow enough to let your guns depression line up with your target. Easier to do in tanks with -10 degrees or more depression. Only peek as much as you need for your shell to clear the hill then back away immediately rather you hit or not.
    6. Flank. But only when the two teams have tied up. Use the chaos as an opportunity but only fire when they are focused elsewhere. Players get tunnel visioned so use it. After three or four shots yield and move elsewhere.
    7. High ground. Hills are to be taken immediately and not given up till the end of the match. Even if there is no objective point on them. Even if they are on the other side of the map. They are sniper nests and you WILL be cross fired and destroyed if you ignore them.
    8. Angle. This will take a bit of practice to master as all tanks are different. But if your front is a square with an angled upper plate, turn your hull a bit to maximize effective thickness. It can help you survive one or two shots before they flank you. But try not to be caught out of cover in the first place. The best armor is a invincible rock or building or hill. Not your armor.
    9. If you are face to face with a jumbo aim at the turret on the lower left or right between the mantlet and turret ring. It will penetrate and kill at least one of the turret crew and piss them off. The machine gun port doesn't always work. This is assuming you have a tank with a decent gun and shell.
    10. Open topped vehicles are CAS bait. Expect revenge kills. If there is a high enough rock or building, cozy up to it to reduce the approaches they can gain on you. Other than that you're screwed. Also don't sit in artillery strike zones. The fragments can kill your turret crew.
    11. DON'T RAM! You have a S key, use it and stop trying to spin your team mates out. And don't bump into someone peeking a corner, they may be getting ready to fire and you will cause them to miss and you may both die in the response. Just don't be toxic. Please.
