Wow angelsix is back
Highly useful info being shared here! Thorough video explaining how the red light works. This will aid in my future repairs with the GG. They are slowly dying especially those born in 91-93 (unattended ones that is). Thanks again Luke! Looking forward to next video.
Fantastic and thorough video, looking forward to the next one! (I have a game gear which red lights but won’t boot games so hoping it might help)
Really enjoy this series on the game gear I have a number of boards i need to revisit that aren't functioning properly. This has been helpful.
Glad you like it. Many more to come
Very helpful. Thank you for explanation.
No problem
My game gear turns on, the light flickers, and there is a strong spark at the solder point of the lamp wire with a lot of smoke.
The power board could not maintain 5v. When you turn it on, it's ok, but in 2 seconds the voltages start to drop until they reach zero.
I replaced the capacitors and it worked while it was unplugged. All voltages correct on all pins.
When I connected it to the main board, the same problem happened again. Blinked, spark, smoke and the power board could no longer hold the voltages.
Somebody has any tips?

Thanks for helpful information but i have 5v on Rest، but still no red light
Any suggestion ؟!
Thank for the video, very helpful. I have a GG, red light is on but !reset is 0v. Please help!
Trace out the reset line to everywhere it goes. You likely have a break in the trace somewhere
what is considered as a redlight boot? i have 2 gamegears which show a red light for 2 seconds and then turn off. is this seen as a redlight boot since it shows 2 seconds the red light? or isn't it seen as a relight boot since it cannot keep up?
That is but it's a short and it's the power board shutting down
Thank you for this video, I thought it could solve my problem but no...
My Game Gear works perfectly but the red light is still blinking even though the GG is plugged into an AC adapter, I measured the Vonf, and it's around 1.85V and Vref is 1.12V.
So it's ok I don't understand why this red light is constantly flashing...
