    i absolutely love this brand of art supplies. Their watercolor pencils are awesome, and especially their drawing/drafting supplies like mechanical pencils, and leads are top of the line. All beautifully packaged. No affiliation at all, just a very satisfied customer.

    Sounds like these are what I need...my biggest concern was the lightfastness, but you answered my question. And I like the fact that they are not as dusty as softer pastels. Thank you!

    thanks so much for reviewing these pastels. I've been a huge fan for a long time now. I'm not sure about the UK, but at Amazon in the US you can get the soft and extra soft in the multi color sets, and also individually or in sets of individual colors (4 for the extra soft). I think they compare very favorably to most other brands including Sennelier, Rembrandt, etc. I don't know why I never see them recommended in art books, etc.

    Thanks for the tip on Koh-i-noor. I was looking for a good pastel stick to start with without breaking the bank. I also just joined your Patreon. Awesome companion site (I've seen other artist use different methods, but that companion site is winnning so far)

    Well, now I cannot wait to be a Patreon! I am a self-taught artist and advanced quite a bit in my pastel work but really want to take it to the next level! Your level! You are amazing. I have started to do animals the past year and after seeing yours, wow, just wow. I cannot wait to learn more. So excited. Thank you!

      @@wildlifeartjm I am having a good ol'time right now looking through everything. I feel inspired! Motivated! Something I haven't been feeling for a while during this difficult time I am having. I see your art and I feel, alive!! I am also feeling these pastels. I have never heard of them until now! I usually use Rembrandt or Nupastels. These look great and I have just added them to my Amazon cart for later, along with the pencils.

  • @gordanamudri48
    @gordanamudri48 Před 6 lety +1

    If you still didn't, you should try Koh-I Noor extra soft pastels. Even more soft and creamy. And btw, watching one of your videos about fixatives, I am using Conte a Paris. I think I will make a test like you but, until now, I didn't notice the change of colours. But, It doesn't fix dust completely, although it helps me to put more layers.

      @Tippel3 Před 6 lety +3

      I think he didn't realize that there are two different soft pastels from Koh-I-Noor. He also mixed them up in the links and it would explain why he thought 48 is the biggest set (true for the extra soft pastels but not for the soft pastels). Maybe he researched the extra soft pastels and wanted to buy these but accidently bought the wrong pastels without noticing it

    Well, this is an another option to buy, if you need more range of color with good price. Yo said, That this soft pastels are the same texture of Rembrandt Soft pasteles? and for me this is an option, because I see a good range of color. I love my Rembrandt soft pastels! But, I want to try this. Many thanks again!

    Just wondering would you recommend these over the rembrant soft pastels? If so why and how would you use them differently?

    • @kabluey5971
      @kabluey5971 Před 4 lety +5

      I have both, ~280 of the Rembrandt (they only have 225 max at any one time but have changed their color range over the years), 72 of the Koh-I-Nor, both are very similar in softness. The Koh-I-Nor range has more intense colors but less tints and shades (lights and darks) of the same color so you would need to blend more to get the same range of lights and darks.

    Hello Jason ! Just saw your video. Also seen the other one where you have compared some more pastel brands too. I stay in Mumbai, India. I am new to pastels, barely a month. We have a very limited variety of pastels and the only affordable ones are the Korean brand called Mungyo. But I find them rather not satisfying and they create a hell lot of dust. Apart from Mungyo only Sennelier, Rembrant and Schmincke are available and all three are very costly. But I want to use better pastels now. So can you please advise me if I have to choose between the Sennelier and Kohinoor which one should I buy considering the quality in terms of butteriness and softness. Please can you reply ?

    I find Conte to be terrible pastels: they just don't stick to the paper, even PastelMat. It amazes me they are still around with so many other good brands around.
